Advice on engagement stone

Hi,

First of all, appreciate any insights or advice I'll get. I am currently looking for a emerald cut diamond in the price range of approx. £6500-6700 (approx. $8400-8600) and a LxW ratio of 1:40-1:50. Preferably;

-G and higher in color and
-VS1 and higher in clarity.

I am planning on having the diamond in a platinum setting (solitaire or pave). Also if I could be so rude to ask for recommendations from Blue Nile or any other Europe located trader (I am in the UK). James Allen and etc just cleans me out due to customs.

I have been looking at some but I am having a hard time determining the extent of the bow-tie effect. Specifically, whether it is the light in which the images of the diamonds where taken in or if it is a 'poorer' cut. Here are the ones I was looking at but please if you think there are any better please post.

Again, thank you

Regards,
Sankt

BN, as far as I know, are not able to provide ASET Images for their diamonds. ASET imaging is essential in evaluating a fancy cut diamond, without naked eye observation.
Is there another UK-based vendor that you can suggest so that I can help you??

Place #3 on hold ASAP, and request ASET & other visual aids, such as a video of the stone, N-S, rotating, so you can see it perform along the steps WITHOUT being positioned on pavilion facet 3.
Also, viewing its performance in different lighting conditions will be helpful, too.

While conversing with BN, be direct in telling them you are in search of “Pricescope Quality”.

Thank you. Forgive my ignorance but "Periscope Quality"? Is that a method of measurement and evaluation?

Not quite...it’s an expectation of superior quality stones, based upon the level of quality you’ll find, here, on Pricescope.

You have listed the same stone twice so you really only have 2 stones listed. Is there another stone?

Neither of the two you listed would work for me. As stated above the first (and second stone) has 2 steps that are turned "off"/black together
which gives the impression of one big step. It appears to stay mostly "off"/black and not lighting up.

With the third stone, although the steps look nice it doesnt appear to be doing much. I'm not seeing a lot of flashing especially in the center.
This stone looks like it would be a very bright stone but would be missing the contrast that gives you the on/off flashes.

Not sure if BlueNile would know what "Pricescope Quality" is. As far as I know, that term is only used with ID Jewelry but you can always give it
a try. And...to make it worse, I'm not sure if whoever you speak with will know how to pick a nice emerald.

- you want all the steps flashing on/off all the way into the center (a lot of times the outer steps work but the center steps do nothing)
- want steps to light up individually so you dont have 2 steps combining to look like one step* (might be ok if its 2 small steps)
- cant have too many steps off (or on) at the same time. It will result in a dark looking stone or not enough contrast

After I'm done with kids, I'll take a look on BN. Maybe Matthews can help find out a lovely stone on BN?

OK, so I went through BN with your specs...I also drop down to H and VS2. Your ratio and specs were eliminating a lot of stones.

Here is what I found...this is an H (very high clarity) but pretty stone

G/VVS2 edit ...I see this one is over your budget

E/VS1 smaller though (look at length)

G/VS2 - got an inclusion in there...would need to ask if its eye-clean

H/IF - dont really think this one has enough contrast

Brian Gavin diamonds has released an BG emerald line. The ASETs are very good, and BG has a great reputation on PS for super ideals. I would assume this new emerald cut line will be very sparkly also.
But taxes would be paid separately, extra hassle. They seem a bit more expensive than BN so probably smaller. So cut over size I guess.

For instance:

https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/....065-g-vs2-emerald-diamond-ags-c-104102553003

some info on them to explain (though I only glanced at):

They look so beautiful :kiss2:

I am looking forward to super ideal vendors moving into more fancy cuts, as I love fancy cuts so much.
