diamondseeker2006 said:Yes, that will be too noticeable. What you do is match the diameters as closely as possible. So if you can get the diameter measurement, then we could see what range might work. I'd probably want to match the cut somewhat, too. However, the best option might be to use this diamond in a pendant so you could get a matched pair of ideal cut studs!
Yes, definetly contact them about matching. By phone though so you can explain (I think phone is better .athenaworth said:I wish I could afford to get ideal cut studs but I can't (and I already have a pendant). Maybe I should send my diamond to WF and have them try to match it for me? The problem is I only have a budget of $2,500 and that includes the setting (which is going to be the 8 prong).
*fingers crossed*dinamit said:Cool, sounds like you have some great projects in the pipeline
My first sone is H SI2 so it is pretty low. I could do J with SBF and that'll work fine too. I do have a GIA cert. I'll get a copy of that and send the info WF's way. Thank you for the idea.diamondseeker2006 said:Does the .90 stone have a grading certificate? If so, you need to send them all the info on the certificate. I don't think you really need to send the stone itself unless you just want to. But if it is not graded, then it might be necessary. I don't think you can go more than one color grade different, but I'd want the diameters to be almost the same and I also like the tables to be close to the same (as in not a 54% with a 60+%, for example). If this stone is not ideal cut and you get a similar stone for the other earring, you may end up not being able to have a trade-in policy on the new stone. So be sure you want them to be your forever earrings! I do think it might be hard to do with a budget of $2500 including the setting unless the color and clarity of the first stone are pretty low.
