7 years ago shortly after i was married I posted a concern about my new wedding band causing wear on my engagement ring

Indeed it has happened. I have managed to wear down and bend one of the prongs. The jeweler tells me while the setting is still strong so there shouldn't be any concern about the diamond coming loose, it is still advisable I have it repaired. She said it would have to be sent away and that they would likely re-mount it. Can anyone explain to a clueless person like myself what that could possibly entail? I will ask for further clarification when I am in the store again next week picking up another item but I'd like to inform myself a bit first before going in. They quoted me roughly $500 for the remount if that is any indication of what kind of work could possibly be done. Does that mean prong repair? Re-setting in a new prong head? Or resetting in a whole new ring

Let me see if i can take a clear photo to share

Thank you in advance

We can't know exactly what they meant. You will have to ask. But since your ring is Tiffany, it sounds like they would be replacing the head. I think a whole new setting would cost considerably more than $500.

Once your diamond is reset, you need to buy a spacer band to keep that from happening again. A spacer band is usually a thin band of some kind worn between the two current rings. I'd have Tiffany check your band to make sure it doesn't have any damage to the diamonds in the band, too.
