5-stone ring help

I am planning on buying my wife a 5-stone ring for our 5th anniversary and have no clue where to start.

I would like something around 1.5 cts (she is a size 5). I also want to make sure that the setting is low cut, so that it doesn't hit her engagement ring or snag anything. My max budget is $4500. Is it possible to find this for that budget?

Do you have any suggestions on particular rings or loose stones/settings?

5 similar sized stones or graduated (the one in the center the biggest and then tapering down?)

What does her engagement ring look like?

Similar sized stones in a platinum setting.

She has a 1.75 ct asscher with a thin pave band and a halo.

Very helpful info - I will defer to the step cut experts who I am sure will have more questions and tons of great advice!

Are you sure she wants to stack a 1.5 ctw 5 stone next to her asscher? You're talking rounds right?
.25 stones are about 4mm
1.75 asscher is about 6.65ish (not sure about your wife's particular size) but my point is that the 5 stone is probably going to distract from her asscher. If she's
ok with that fine...but if your not sure...

I would wear the 5 stone as a right-hand-ring. Does she have a nice RHR?

Do you have any pictures of her asscher setting so we can see how high it is off the finger and see the details of the head? She may still have
to wear a separator ring to keep the diamonds from rubbing against each other or the diamonds of one ring from rubbing the metal of the other ring.

Low setting...this is a 1.25 but they can probably up the carat weight to 1.5. They use Whiteflash ACA melee for their rings. Beautiful stones.

Yah, is this for a right-hand stand-alone ring, or are you thinking she'll wear it with her engagement ring? That will help people get a sense of size issues (e.g., no size issues wearing on right hand)

I just assumed that she would wear it with her engagement ring, but she does not have any right hand rings. If it would look better as a stand alone ring, I'm sure she'd be happy to wear it on her right hand instead.

I don't have a picture of her setting right now - I'll try to get one when she takes the ring off before bed. I want to surprise her, so I don't want to take a picture with it on her finger.

You might want to check Love Affair Diamonds and Jewels by Grace for ready-made 5 stone rings as well.

Thank you. Is 1.5ct a good size or with my budget should I be looking at a 1.25 or 1ct? What looks best on a size 5?

Your budget is completely reasonable and plenty.
Branded H&A cut 0.3 H SI costs about $600 from Brian Gavin and WF.
18k WG setting starts around $1000. More elaborate ones cost about $1800. So.. that's $600 x 5 + $1000 =$4000 + tax. Again, we are talking the best of the best cut AGS/GIA graded diamonds.

I am not sure if they offer H&A 0.3 H SI melees, that are not graded by AGS/GIA, which should be cheaper, but still very well cut. . If they do, you get to save some money.
For a reference.

If you contact vendors like IDJ for a quote for PS quality stones (not H&A, probably non graded, but still very good), save even more there.

EDIT: a plat setting starts at $1450. Still within your budget

Pick a setting first, and write or call whiteflash and brian gavin.

"I am interested in a 1.5 ctw (0.30c x 5) 5-stone ring. Here is the platinum setting I am interested in [provide link]. Could you provide me two price estimates? One with AGS graded WF ACA H SI1(or BG Signature) and another with WF ACA F/G VS Melees (or BG Signature Melees)"

And write or call IDJ with the setting and ask for a price estimate for "PS quality melees".

A 5 stone 1.5 ctw RHR would be lovely. I* would chose a U prong setting where you can see most of the stone...
Here is a pic of my 1.4 ctw 7 stone u-prong. It is also my avatar picture.

You can look at this thread to see how big a 1.5ctw is. I did not see her finger size in the thread though.

I like a U prong better, too, though often more expensive.

I like the U prong better too. I also wonder if your wife would want to wear that size of band with her ering. It just depends on what she likes on her hand. A 5 stone ring would be a fabulous RHR as well. I am sure whatever you decide she will love it.
