Hi There,

This is my first post and I'm actually a little nervous :?
I am going to be getting engaged soon and I am wanting a Blingy 5 stone with uniform stones (not graduated) rather than a single stone for my ring, mainly due to wanting more bling-pact on my large size 9 fingers!!

I would love some help in the following areas and appreciate any replies! Here goes:

Firstly would .60 ideal cut rounds have enough impact on my size 9 finger? I am considering the trellis or basket setting.
Is it uncommon to get a 5 stone for an e ring what are the pros and cons?
Does anyone here have a 5 stone for an e ring, that can chime in?
I am going to get as well cut as possible, and am now considering Brian Gavin Signature/ Is it worth the premium for H&A for .60 stones?
If they are not graded By GIA ( which most at Brian Gavin are not) how worried should I be about colour grading with AGS? I always had my heart set .65 points each, ideal cut, GIA F colour. Now having learnt so much from this forum, I now think I should drop the size and get Signature having seen so many beauties on here..
First World problems I know, However I desperately would love to see/ hear your opinions! Thanks

I love a 5-stone (uniform sized) engagement ring!!!!! The stones you're considering sound quite large - .65 It will be very blingy. Have you tried anything on - even a CZ ring, just to get an idea?

...maybe email the moderator to move this over to Rocky Talk section - you'll probably get more responses! Good luck!

I have a graduated 5 stone but set in a shared prong setting similar to a uniform prong.

In terms of pros I feel like there are lots. I have a 7.25 finger, and I feel the vertical coverage of slightly smaller stones is more impactful than one slightly larger stone. Also they are little sparkle monsters. I've seen stones bigger, but none with as much impact. Netter than a solitaire or halo. Also being low profile of makes it very wearable. I just about forget its on. Different than my solitaire rhr. And it allows for stacking and a lot of fun mix and match options with w bands.

I would figure out what the mm length is of visable space on the top of your finger. If that makes sense. I know there's a way to figure that out but I can't remember how. Then I would divide by 5 to find the ideal mm size of the stones (subtract a little for prongs. )

Alsp if you have no budgetary constraints BG sigs are great stones. Bit no I don't think h and a are required for stones that size.

And AGS is a very reputable lab, but I have seen it where they grads just the slightest bit softer on color than GIA.

I've picked a 5 stone for my engagement ring too! (it's currently being designed/made, then I have to wait for the proposal! :D) So I just came to chime in and say I think it's a great idea. I chose it because I wanted something a little different from a solitaire. I also had a feeling that I wouldn't want to wear a solitaire the rest of my life... however a 5 stone seems very elegant to me, and something that will "match" my lifestyle as I get older - though I'm in my early 30s already so I'm not exactly young to start with. hehe. Some people may be surprised by the ring choice, but I know it's exactly what I want. My bf was happy to go along with it.

I am going for very slightly graduated stone sizes - I tried on a band like that in person and it stood out to me. I definitely second that you should try on bands in real life and see what size feels right. My finger is 5.5, and when I tried on 1.25 tcw it was blingier than I felt comfortable with, so I am sticking with 1.0 tcw, which still packs a punch!

Have fun shopping!

I love love love a five stone as ER!! I think 60 pointers will be huge - perhaps too big even (words I rarely say on PS). I assume you looked through the five stone band threads? There are some 50 and even 55 pointers in there. I would definitely go for the best cut possible. No regrets on quality since this is your ering. (Personally, my dream MRB five stone for my size 7.5 finger is .40ct each, G with strong blue fluorescence, super ideal cut. Gives me chills just thinking about it!). I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I think like others have said you need to see some five stone rings even if you buy some "fake" ones to try. I have a 5 stone that is from QVC it is set in a trelis style and each stone is .50 size. I got it in a size 5 (for my fat summer fingers) The way it is set most the stones sit on top of my finger I might lose 1/2 of both of the end stones. But if I recall your finger has more room for the bigger size stones you desire. It is very rare the here on PS do we hear someone saying "GEE i wish i had gotten smaller stones" :naughty: . Since this is going to be your ering I say go for it.

Hope this helps

I have always loved the idea of a 5 stone band so went for it as an anniversary band and guess what - I wear it without my er solitaire and love it! I have a size 8 finger and the stones are approximately .42 points each and there is great coverage. I went with Whiteflash for their signature stones and wow - the bling is amazing! I can't stop looking at the ring! I found their prices to be far less than I was quoted elsewhere. You should check out the 5 stone threads here, as I did, to see some great pics and get some more ideas. Good luck with your search and I'm sure whatever you pick will be beautiful!!!

I just wanted to say that I think a 5 stone for an e-ring is a great choice!! If I could go back in time and pick one for my e-ring, I would totally do it.

Bling, that looks wonderful on your hand. Congrats! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Love it!!!!!! Wow! Will you wear it with a plain wedding band? I love that look!

You need to do a Show Me the Bling post. It's really lovely! I have a small 5 stone wedding band to wear with my pear
engagement ring and truth be told I basically wear my 5 stone all the time and only wear my pear for special occasions.
I think it was a good choice!

Thank you all for the lovely comments!!!! :wavey: :appl:

@motownmama Thank you! And yes I am thinking thin plain band for wedding band so it doesn't take away from the 5 stone :)
