Hi!

Would love any suggestions or information on
the Harry Winston Cushion Cut ring in the pave
diamond setting vs. the Tiffany Legacy ring.

Here are specs:

Harry Winston
1.66 ct
0.52 pave diamonds
F/VVS1

Tiffany Legacy
1.64
F VS1

They are about the same price and both are GIA
certified with no culet and no fluoresence.

I have had excellent customer service with both
of the sales reps that I am working with.

I am leaning towards the Harry Winston ring.

Thanks in advance!

Any chance we could get pictures of both of the rings?

I''m sure they will both be absolutely stunning. But are you sure you don''t want to go the route of finding a great stone online and having a setting made? You could get a much bigger stone for the same amount of money, or just save a lot of money. Then again, if you want to walk out with one of the rings tomorrow, I''m sure there''s no wrong answer.

I love the legacy, but I think it can make your hands look chunky unless you have very long fingers. I would def. try it on with that in mind...I personally like smaller carat size with that setting.

The HW in nice, and looks a little less likely to make your hand look bad (more elongated)

I’ve tried both these rings on several times and stared at them for hours, he,he!

In my personal opinion, the HW is WAY better! And vs, you know I have one on order, so I'm a bit biased!

The cushion cut is very different in both these rings. The HW cushion sparkles A LOT more.
9.gif
The cushion in the Tiffany Legacy looked a little dark to me and more like glass. The micro pave around the HW is thinner which shows off the center diamond more. In fact, it kind of blends into the center stone, making it look like one big diamond from a distance, KWIM? In the Legacy, the pave is more the focus and is really noticeable as being separate from the center stone. I love the side view on the Legacy though! But in my opinion, the Legacy looks better in pictures than in real life.

Both are gorgeous rings but the HW took my breath away. I’m counting down the days until we pick mine up on March 14!!! The wait is driving me crazy!

vs, I can't wait to decide which one you go for! Keep us updated!

lucky girl :)

They do make a nice product, dem overpriced dealers!

A lot of people here go with leon mege when they want the best of the non-major store stuff. I have to say I wonder if a Mege ends up costing just as much as a Tiffany or HW though...

RE: the tiffany cut. yes I do sort of agree with you. It is supposed to be a modified *brilliant* cushion, but it came out looking a little like a confused assher crossed with an odd looking crown.

Still pretty though.

Hi, Angela!

Thank you so much for your feedback....I am heavily leaning
towards the Harry Winston, but wanted to get opinions from
this forum. I have been working with Lilly from the Las Vegas
location and she has been extremely helpful and knowledgable.
(I know you have been working with Tony, but when I called
HW, she answered the phone and was so friendly that I felt
bad asking for him!)

I have yet to try on the Harry Winston ring and I am trying to
figure out if I can fly out earlier than April. Your feedback
is SO helpful since I have only tried on the Legacy. I know
the quality and craftsmanship of Harry Winston is going to
be extremely high, which is why for the same price, I am
heavily leaning towards it. I pretty much have my mind
made up! :)

I can''t wait until you post pictures of your ring...thanks again
for all of your help! :)

If I was going to pay for a name I would much rather pay for Harry Winston than Tiffany, especially If they are around the same price. I can''t wait to see hand pics of whatever you decide though!

vs, you're going to love the HW! Believe me, I thought I liked the Legacy when I first saw it, especially the thin pave band and the side view. But the HW ring just BLEW IT AWAY!

30.gif

I'm so happy you called the HW in Vegas like I suggested! Feel free to tell Lilly about me working with Tony on the same ring. I'm sure they'd love to hear it!

I can't wait to see pics of your (our?) ring too!

Hello! I''m coming into this thread late, but if you decide on the Legacy, I suggest that you look at many of them before you choose one. Some of them are very sleepy, but others are dazzling! I''m thinking about getting a 1.04 carat F VS1 Legacy I saw that made a 4 carat Legacy disappear when I had them on my hand together. Legacies always look better and livelier on the hand than they do in the display case.

Hello, everyone!

Thank you all so much for your feedback...
I really appreciate all of your comments.

Rainbowtrout-I agree with you, the Legacy tends
to look clunky if you don''t have long fingers (and
I don''t). It is a gorgeous ring though.

Madam Bijoux-Thanks for your input...I have
tried on several Legacies of different sizes
(from 1.18 to 2.50) and you''re right...some
definitely sparkle more than others.

Choo Choo-I really have my heart set on the
Harry Winston. Also, I have had friends buy
diamonds online with mixed results. Plus, this is an early anniversary/
birthday gift so I am going with my ''dream'' ring.

Angelainjapan-I can''t thank you enough for all of your help! Since
you have tried on both the HW and Legacy it really reinforced my
decision to go with HW. I will let Lilly know that I have been talking
with you...I''m sure they will love hearing that, too! :)

Again, thank you all for your help...I will let you know
when I go to Las Vegas to try on the ring...I can''t wait!

VS,

Personally, I would go with HW over Tiffanys. My "dream" ring is also on their website - the huge oval with half-moon sides. :)

I love, love, love the cushion cut w/ pave halo setting that you and Angela have selected. We don''t have a HW here in Houston, but I have tried on the Tiffany Legacy many times (I love it also). I prefer the one with graduated sidestones...have you tried on that one? I think it looks so much prettier (both from the top and from the side) than the regular Legacy. I have only tried on Legacies in the 2+ carat range, and I never thought they made my finger look chunky or anything like that (and my fingers aren''t long at all). But I do agree that some of the center stones have looked kind of yellowish to me (even with all that amazing lighting they have in the store).

Anyway, I don''t think you can go wrong with either... I think the HW looks a bit more modern with less metal showing...and the Tiffany kind of has that delicate, antique-y look with the milgraining.

Either way, you''ll have a *beautiful* ring and you''re going to love it! :)

I vote for the HW over the Legacy anyday. The HW just looks more delicate, sparkly and feminine to me, the Legacy is a bit too chunky and " severe" for my taste.

You must be so excited!

Oh vs, I'm so excited for you and for me too!
31.gif
I'm lucky enough to live just 5 minutes away from the Harry Winstons here in Osaka, Japan! I stop by so often all the staff know me by name, ha,ha!

I totally agree with Lorelei about the HW ring looking more delicate and sparkly with less metal than the Legacy. It was just the look I was going for with my dainty size 3 finger.

Watch out for hand shot pictures mid-March! Yippee!

Hi, Angela!

Thanks for your good wishes...I am excited for both
of us, too! You are SO lucky to live 5 minutes from
Harry Winston...I would be in there all the time, too.
How long have you been living in Japan?

I am hoping to fly out earlier than April to try on the
ring. I will probably put a deposit down so it will be
there when I want to try it on.

Since the ring is delicate, it will look perfect on your
size 3 finger. Plus, the stone will look HUGE! :)

I can''t wait until you post pictures of your beautiful
ring...when are you and your fiance planning on
getting married?

Take care and thanks again for all of your help :)

This always happens to me - the odd person out - I like the legeacy better. Just my opinion. Try on both rings - the same day and see which one you like. The legeacy is so breath taking inperson. Good luck and I would love to have your delima!

Hi again vs, (wish I knew your first name!)
35.gif

I''ve been living in Japan for about 3 years now, thanks for asking. It sure has its ups and downs! I go back and forth to the states every 3 months. So I kind of live in both countries at the moment! That will change after we get married and I obtain a spouse visa for Japan though. We haven''t set a date yet but are shooting for this fall. We''ve been together for 5 years, so I''ve had my share of waiting!

Well, I''ll be in Vegas from March 14-16 to get my ring. So if you happen to be there then by golly let''s meet!
36.gif

We paid for half the ring already and will pay the other half when we pick it up. I just hope it fits perfectly. I have nightmares about it being way too big or too small!
32.gif

I''ve only ever seen the cushion in 1.02 carats. It''s the biggest they have here in Osaka. The Japanese tend to go for smaller diamonds. The ring I ordered from Vegas is 1.27 carats and then you''re looking at even bigger so I can''t wait to see it in the larger sizes!

It''s all so exciting, indeed! Good luck with everything. I lurk around this board a lot so keep me updated!

Hi, TriciaKirk!

Thanks for your e-mail...even though I have made
up my mind (the Harry Winston 1.66 F/VVS1 cushion
cut in the pave setting) I will probably try on both
when I am in Las Vegas. I have tried on the Legacy
many times and I love it, but I have decided that
for the same price I am going with Harry Winston.

Thanks again and I will let you know when I
fly out to Las Vegas! :)

Hi, Angela!

We should definitely be on a first-name basis...
my name is Victoria and I live in Northern
California (Wine Country-Sonoma County).

If I can fly out in March and we are there at
the same time...let''s definitely meet! :) I will
let you know as the date gets closer. I am
SO excited for you...only a few weeks left!

Will you live in Japan full-time after you get
married? What an adventure it must be!

My husband and I have been married for
almost 10 years and we have two daughters,
ages 6 1/2 and almost 4. We met his first
year out of medical school and we were
together for four years before we got married.
Sounds like a long time but it goes by quickly!

When I realized that the Legacy and the HW
were about the same price, I couldn''t believe
it! I just assumed that HW was much more
expensive and the 1.64 FVS1 is almost $2,00
more than the 1.66 FVVS1!

Again, thanks so much for all of your input...
it has been a HUGE help! :)

Take care and perhaps I''ll see you next month...

Hey Victoria, that's a beautiful name, by the way. I wish the PM feature was still here!

Fascinating story about your family! Is your husband a doctor then?
2.gif
My dad is an ER nurse and my boyfriend owns sushi restaurants here in Osaka. So yes, I'll live in Japan with him for the long haul which is a scary thought, ha,ha!

My mom has family all over California so I've been many times and love it. I myself grew up in a small town near Seattle.

That would be totally awesome if we were in Vegas at the same time! Definitely let me know when you're going! We'll have to celebrate our matching rings, he,he!

Hi, Angela!

Thanks for your latest post...yes, my husband is a doctor
(an Ophthalmologist). When I read that your Dad is an ER
nurse, I couldn''t believe it--my Dad was, too! He retired
about 12 years ago...what a coincidence :)

We love living in Sonoma County and I was born and
raised in the Bay Area (San Jose) so I have family and
friends near by.

I really hope my trip coincides with yours...
it would be great to meet you and to thank you in person
for all of your help. I feel like we''re friends already! :)

How did you meet your fiance? Do you speak Japanese
fluently? It must be a lot of work to own a couple of
restaurants. I have friends who used to own one and
the hours were intense.

Take care and I look forward to your next post :)

Angela and Victoria, you are both very lucky girls indeed. What a fabulous choice you have made. I would also go for the HW, and like Lorelei said, it looks so dainty and feminine. It would win hands down if I had the choice. GOOD LUCK!
