Upon my journey of collecting and being and my SO giving in to most of my hearts desires. LOL
While big rocks are stunning and beautiful.. he noticed I turn my .99 OEC in, while in public Partly because the avg carat Diamond around here is around .50.. around this area I’m self conscious about my bigger than average OEC. My partner loved the look of the emerald cut and the fact that it grabbed slightly less attention and a more subtle sparkle. I acquired this while platinum was slightly less than 37 per gram. So it was a bargain pawn shop find. I had it bezel set in a signet style ring with beautiful engraving all done by DKJ In 18k and Plat bezel. I was nervous because the diamond is outside the good cut grade parameters but the light return is mesmerizing to me.
This is my Goldilocks, just right. I wish I could carry the confidence most of you have to wear big rocks. I still wear my OG engagement ring, but inside with pajamas or in places where no one knows me lol.IMG_6836.jpeg

I love emerald cuts, yours is so beautiful and white!!! The setting looks comfortable and perfect for wearing everyday! I think the engraving adds a special finishing touch!

@MamaBear
Thank you!

@Mreader
I sure will as soon as I get back home!

@peppermintpatty
That’s exactly what I was going for, my other rings while not high set (not low either) would get caught will getting my son dressed (he is immobile and depends on me for daily things) David and his team did an amazing job executing that!

Technically I’m supposed to be saving it for this coming February, but it’s a long time and he understands how I am lol so he lets me sneak it on and admire it for a small bit as long as I put it back. Heehee.:twisted2:

She’s fabulous… love, love, love the setting! Enjoy her for a lifetime!

Oh that is beautiful! The signet style does make it more subtle than if it sat in a basket. Truly classic.

PS post in the under 1 carat thread! Small diamond lovers unite :)

Thank you! I actually posted it as soon as DK sent me pictures I just never posted the updated IRL pictures. lol but I will be sure to update!

Loving the setting! It would look great stacked.

Perfect. It reminds me of a Georgian style signet ring (with beautiful engraving), the size, shape and low to the hand setting. This is truly special!

Thank you! I actually got my idea from a Georgian/Victorian EC sapphire ring that had beautiful engraving, it was on EBay but sold fairly quick. Good eye!

Loving this! I'm glad it fits the bill for you!

That's just perfect on your hand! Sleek and timeless. And I love the flashes of a step cut-draws you in. Congratulations on your amazing ring!

@tyty333, It fits my lifestyle perfectly, atm I’m a full time caretaker so to me it’s perfect,Thank you!

@BoulderGal Thank you, my first step cut and I’m mesmerized by the flashes!

I have a three stone Asscher, and my goodness the step cuts draw me in! Flashes for days. Have fun (in february ;-) ) with your new ring!

Asschers are amazing I was originally searching for one but that dream was immediately shot down when I saw the price tags lol, even used they hold their value. So I settled with a chunky emerald cut. Not everyone likes them on the used market, the color and clarity were just the cherry on top (got very lucky it wasn’t sold to me as that).

I almost never see Asschers in my second hand trolling. I think they are just generally less common. It’s a pity bc I’d love one too some day but obvs not brand new lol.

Asschers are on a league of their own, I’ve only come across one sold years ago on eBay along with a beautiful emerald around the same mm size, it was a toi et moi, it sold for less than 1500. The diamond itself was a carat… I was so sad when that sold. I haven’t seen one that’s over .50 carats under 3,000 since.

So weird. I mean even here on PS we almost never see them so I imagine they are super rare. Step cuts have their charm for sure. I’m waiting for my carre cuts to be delivered! I’ll be curious how they look in person bc it’s obvs different than pictures.

I really like your setting btw. The engraving is lovely and having the plat inner bezel is smart.

They are very hard to come by that’s why I gave up lol
You’re going to love the sparkles Carre cuts give, I had a platinum band long ago that I out grew and sold long ago.
They were tiny though maybe 1.5mm and you could see the prismatic sparkles bounce around. There was only 4 though, along with 6 single cuts (3 on each side) I wish I saved pictures after it sold. But it was lovely and a different flavor of sparkles. Yours is going to look lovely! A perfect addition to your collection.

ETA: Thank you, for the compliment I wanted the contrast between the white diamond and 18k rose gold but didn’t want the diamond to take on the 18k rose gold color the platinum bezel definitely did its job and kept it white in all lighting.

I’m going to be very curious to see them! My suite is 10 stones and somewhere between 2.8 and 3mm so I am hoping I can see the facets and enjoy the patterning. It should arrive Monday!

Last week I started going through my old PA threads to save pictures I took of the pieces I’ve owned over the years. I’m sorry you don’t have any of your former ring! It sounds beautiful.

Yes that’s a smart solution.

Yes that’s a smart solution.

It was beautiful but it didn’t fit, I was clueless as to what the Carre cuts were and figured they were common, I found soon after I made a grave mistake, You live and you learn. So now I think something through before selling or scrapping. Sometimes it’s worth resizing or refurbishing some vintage pieces. Some are past beyond repair.

However, I did find an old pic and only pic of the previous setting this EC was in. I chose to leave out the side ECs, the sides were a bit warmer in color and they were more elongated, that really bothered me..haha it was a small size 4.5 (probably why it didn’t sell for almost a year).
