Hi all,

Would greatly appreciate opinions on the below 3 diamonds. Given they're all roughly similar price (and confirmed eye clean), which one would you think is the best selection?

Diamond 1: 2.33ct I SI2 3ex None
Comments: HCA 2.0, although low crown (but offset by higher pavilion) - any concerns? I really like this one because of the big spread

Diamond 2: 2.4ct I SI2 3ex Strong Blue
Comments: HCA 3.6, worried about the strong blue and HCA score but like the size

Diamond 3: 2.22ct I VS2 3ex Medium Blue
Comments: HCA 2.4, smaller than others but is very clean

Any opinions or thoughts are welcome. Thanks for your time and help.

Im just an amateur, i have only been researching diamonds for a month or two for personal shopping. it seems that the crown angles are either too steep (36.45) or too low (32). this affects the performance of each one. In all cases I'd trust the hca score BUT..

what are the prices for each ? and have you considered getting a better cut with crown angles 34-35 degrees? I highly recommend WHITEFLASH ACA if you're looking for the best stone in your budget, because afterall.. the cut is the most important. I'm from the UK and had one imported.

take a look at http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3709851.htm its £18320 when you include the import 20% tax you pay when you get it.

When you pick 100 stones that are GIA triple excellent and you pick the best one, thats the quality of a whiteflash A Cut Above stone. it will be sure to sparkle like crazy and make your stone seem bigger. because whats the point of having a big stone that may perform poorly in certain light conditions. the video shows you what the stone will look like, and if i were in your shoes, id go for that or something similar.

PS the hca score on it is 1.3. I wish i found Wf ACA diamonds early on during my searches, it would have saved a lot of time. after 2 months of researching, i came to finding that CUT is the most important factor because at the end of the day, when a cutter spends a large amount of time perfecting the cut, its what makes the gem BEAUTIFUL

Thanks for your comment. The diamonds I posted are about US$15k excl. taxes. I'm from Australia so it becomes about A$22.5k inc. all our taxes.

I agree that the WF ACA look amazing although I did a quick search and for my price range looks like I'll get nothing over 2ct.

The diamonds I've posted are international but i'm going through a local vendor who can call in the diamonds for me (I'll need to pay the full amount), but if I don't like it when I see it in person then I can get refunded the entire amount. So I will have the benefit of seeing the diamond before fully committing.

I also agree that the angles are not within the 'Ideal' range but I feel that given it has a GIA 3 Ex (and good HCA scores) then the diamond will still be quite shiny (obviously not as much as the ACAs)!

Can your jeweler get you idealscope images? That will show how much leakage there is in each stone. With the angles
not being within the range we usually stay in I would want to see images.

I have put in a request for Ideal Scope / ASET images although 95% chance that the international vendor doesn't have the equipment for it...

So I'll be running blind until I see it in person.

This is another one for US$15k with better angles.

Diamond 4: 2.21ct I SI2 3 Ex (eye clean confirmed) HCA Score 1.3

The video doesn't make it look that shiny though...might just be the lens / lighting?

Any thoughts on the above one relative to Diamonds 1-3?

Does it have to be over 2ct? I would strongly suggest ACA or BG signature or even BG sig blue.

If not then a solasfera from GoG (or even their Ascendancy line). ?

I think super ideal cuts is out of my price range given size criteria
