Hello again, I was wondering do ideal cut/ACAs (since they are so well cut) make inclusions harder to spot? Especially with a 2ct+ SI range stone? Much thanks in advance!

An excellent cut in a brilliant cut diamond will help to mask inclusions. That does not guarantee that an SI will be eye clean however. That depends on the type and number of inclusions, which lab graded the diamond, and how eagle eyed you are. Going up in size can also make inclusions easier to spot so a 2 ct SI may not be as eye clean as a 1 ct SI with the same inclusions.

Yeah, I think so. When the inclusion(s) is awash in a blaze of light and fire, it won''t be as noticeable. People will be distracted enough by an ideal cut''s brightness and scintillation that they won''t think to look for an inclusion. You can still see it if you look hard enough (with a loupe if necessary), but the inclusion will be your little secret.

HappyGal, I just got a 2.1ct F SI2 from WF, and it''s ''only'' an Expert Selection, not ACA. I can''t see a thing with the naked eye. I didn''t get a loupe with it so I can''t check with that (which may be a good thing!) The inclusions in mine are white clouds so the sparkle really means you can''t focus in on any white blobs. My eye-sight isn''t as fantastc as a younger person'' though, but I think the ideal cut certainly does hide a lot of stuff.

I was ready to send it back if I could see anything but happily, nada! HTH,

My 4.10 SI2 stone from Whiteflash is perfectly eye clean with the naked eye. There are several small inclusions visible with a ten power loupe but, although I know where they are, I cannot find them without magnification.
If you discuss the stone in mind with Brian he will tell you whether it is eye clean and you can trust his judgment. If you specify that you want a stone that is completely eye clean, I am sure they will be truthful. There is no point in sending out a stone that is sure to come back.
If this stone is not eye clean. perhaps they can suggest another.

This can be the case, yes. But it depends on many factors, some of which have been mentioned.

Angeline, mine has a big blob (crystal?) also like the one on one of your arrows (looking at the 40x maginification on yours). How well can you see that from about 10'' away?

I spoke with Brian about this stone with him looking at it as we spoke. He didn''t think it was as eye-clean as other SI2''s I was looking at. However WF said that from 10" it is eye-clean.

I truly can''t focus on anything at ALL from whatever distance! To me it looks as good as a VS. That might be becuas I have 43 year old eyes, but my dh also can''t find anything.

You can trust Brian to give you the scoop.
