I'm excited to be picking up my newest beauty today. It's an unheated, 2ct Ceylon sapphire set with two side diamonds. A few years ago I replaced my original sapphire engagement ring with a FCYD, but I still craved that blue color. My original engagement ring has a 0.25ct sapphire. Oh, to be young and in love!

Here's a quick pic I took with my phone. The conditions were not ideal for photography, so the color is not accurate. I'll be taking better photos once I get it home today.

Well, accurate or not, it's a beautiful ring & sapphire! What great bling! Did you buy it already made or buy the stone & have it set? What did you do with the yellow diamond? Look forward to seeing your next photos.

Hi JewelFreak-
Thanks for the comments. I purchased the ring already made. Since I'm going to wear it as a right hand ring, the yellow diamond is staying on my left hand /user#

Next, I'm going to get a GIA certification on the sapphire. Unfortunately, it only came with an appraisal. So if it turns out to be heat treated, I'll be having a conversation with the jeweler.

So far, of the two appraisals done (one for me and one for the jeweler), one says it's Ceylon and the other that it's Burmese. We'll see.

Now, on to the pics!

I would get an AGL report instead. You can get an inexpensive gem brief (cheaper than a regular GIA report) or a prestige report with origin. They're a better lab for colored stones.

Enjoy your lovely ring. :))

Thanks TL. I'll get in touch with them.

TL: can you get a gem brief even for a mounted stone? OP: its lovely and I agree with TL that AGL would be better for your stone. :))

Good question, I would ask them. They're very helpful and friendly, and good at responding to emails, phone calls.

Yes, they do, for $75. The origin report is more expensive though, if you want to verify whether it is Sri Lankan or Burmese.

Thanks for doing the research I was too lazy to do, Chrono!

Very helpful, thanks for the info everyone!

Congratulations on a beautiful stone! I love the color! Hopefully everything checks out with the AGL report.

Looks beautiful.

Very nice!

Let us know what AIG says.

I typically go for lighter colors - but that is one beautiful, velvety blue - love it!

What a fabulous blue! Love it! :appl:

Really pretty!
