2008 goes out with a bang and 2009 comes in with 6 and a taser

cooking some burger for tacos... step out of the kitchen and hear a bang and see the kettle lid flying across the kitchen.
Go into the kitchen and flames are shooting up from the stove 2 feet.
Must have been an air bubble in the roll of burger.
Get the fire out and finish cooking my burger and the mess cleaned up.
Tacos were goooood!!! :}

2009: stayed up for midnight and hit the hay shortly after...
A little later a gun shot wakes me up, I fly off the couch and lock and load.
Hear 5 more shots but no bullet holes in my apartment so its kewl.
Cops all over the place so I go back to bed.
Then 2 hours later I hear a bunch of drunk people yelling out in the street, peek out to see what drunk people are doing out in below zero windchill, cops pull up,, one idiot says something to the cops and moves towards them and gets tazered and arrested.
Better than TV.

LOL. I'm with Deb, yours sounds exciting. Ours was fun. We went to a restaurant that had a live band and a tasting menu type deal. Sat next to woman with an EC from Cartier... thing had to be 10 carats (didn't ask, desperately wanted to), inherited from her Grandmother. Thing was winking at me all night and I just wanted to grab her hand and examine the ring close up for like an hour, with the lights ON, none of this candlelight crap. 6 course meal, only one course that sucked (but it sucked hard). Band was good, going on a date with John was great. Still thinking about that diamond though, and the ring had intesting prongs I wanted to investigate further.

Ummm that sounds interesting...just quietly if it were me I would be pooping myself

I spent it with FI on the couch eating chocolate and chicken twisties and having adult chocolate milks it was quiet but it was good .

Ha, strm... sounds like my apartment! Lol..

I brought in the new year at work... night shift (I''m a nurse). Fine. 1200, call FI, say Happy New Year. He is so proud because he had called the cable company (they had jacked up prices again), threatened to cancel... he got it fixed so our bill went down by $45 and we now have more channels. Yay! Great! 1205... still on the phone, now one of my patients alarms, starts getting confused/vital signs not looking good. Hang up on FI, spend the next 6 hours tied up with one patient before they finally decide to send him to the ICU. Last hour of work is spent trying to catch up on paperwork and such. No break. For 12 hours.

FYI: Please tell doctors if you drink alcohol regularly before you have any kind of surgery. If you don''t, then on the 3rd or 4th day post-op, most likely you will go into withdrawl, which is not pleasant. Best to know prior to surgery so you can get adequate treatment beforehand.

Other than that, my New Year was great!!

I think I fell asleep at 930 while DH was watching bowl games. It was a loooong day. I woke up at midnight for water and walked into the kitchen just in time to catch the fireworks going off downtown. We live about a mile from downtown, on the second floor of our building with a skyline view of dtown, and the view was perfectly clear for fireworks. I''m filing that little piece of info away for 4th of July fireworks. No more crowds for me!

I couldn''t go back to sleep after that and heard people yelling and screaming from time to time. No gun shots this year and I didn''t even hear any police. I guess eveyone in my area was behaving themselves.

Makes me feel better about my less-than-stellar dinner at a local spot which cost the DH a cool $100. Oh well, we were with friends, so it was mostly good. But we learned a valuable lesson: never order the special price fixed meal of several courses that restaurants offer on special occasions; order from the menu. Unless of course it''s a fabulous restaurant. No, just order from the menu.

TWILIGHT ZONE MARATHON on the Sci fi channel!!!

I am such a NERD. hehe

It is on today too!!

We went to eat with my sister, nephew (he turned 3 today), and her hubby; then we came home opened the raspberry beer.

Watched the Twilight Zone marathon, kissed and then went to bed. hehe Nothing too nutty; we were invited to a party but we were both not up for it so our evening was nice and relaxing and actually felt perfect for us last night. Hubs a bit under the weather.



Karl, yikes! I am glad you are safe and hope you and Wifey are together next NY!!

Deb, oh I am sorry; Old Yeller made me sad too.

Twilight Zone Marathon started at 8AM, preprogramed my DVR to start recording with the first program. Woke up at 12 in the afternoon, turned on the TZM. Only action was my finger fast forwarding through the commercial. At 2 in the afternoon, started finger foods and cosmo for me, bloody mary for hubby and back to TZM. Fell asleep at around 4pm.... woke up at 830pm, con''t to watch the TZM and popped open the champagne.
