I am close to deciding to treat myself and buy an OEC for a pendant. These 2 stones call to me right now. Looking for opinions between the 2 and if the prices seem fair. My max budget for the stone is $4k. I really like this setting for the stone, but in platinum.

Thank you in advance for your opinions/help!! I was willing to go down to an eye clean SI and a M/N color. For the older diamonds I actually prefer some warmth. The random Diamond picture is actually one someone here was trying to sell. It is way out of my price range, but that would be my ideal pic.

My dream....but too much $$

And sorry, the GIA reports are with the wrong diamonds. I'm having a rough iPad day!!

I ended up purchasing the 1.33ct stone, it will be here on Monday. I'm still interested in hearing feedback on the stone and the price since there is a 7 day return period. I'm hoping that I love it in person!!

Take lots of pictures (and post) when you get it. See if you can get some fire out of it. Looking forward to your opinion on the stone!

I wonder what it will look like with the pavilion enclosed in a bezel. Please check.

I'm going to take it tomorrow to have everything double checked by a jeweler...it's very pretty and sparkly in person. Hard to capture in photos. I'm not able to see many colors flash (couple of blue flashes). Night time now, so I can't check it in natural light until tomorrow. I'm happy with the size for a pendant and the sparkle....thoughts on the price?? It doesn't have the romantic feel I was hoping for in an old cut, but I will eventually inherit some OMCs that have that feel. This is a very good point. Diamonds can look more “steely” in a bezel (in othe words the girdle affects perceived color in some stones). The bezel affects light hitting the girdle which enhances the definition of its facets. But it can also make a diamond go darker and obscure the faceting.

Before you purchase this stone you should wrap the girdle in foil or simulate a girdle in some other way to be sure this stone performs the way you like in a girdle.

Thank you for the suggestion!! I was wondering how I could check performance without actually setting the stone...

I'd say it is not impossible that diamonds appear nicer in closed settings ... 'Guess there is no need for 'theory' on this - just trying out one diamond ! It was done on another thread: WWW
