2+ Carat, Solasfera, Tapered Baguette, Platinum...Thoughts?

Haven't set the proposal date yet, but am eager to hear your thoughts of the ring I purchased. Just daylight shots, it's raining today though...These diamonds are hard to shoot. I need to review that post that details how to take pics of these things...

Oh my gosh...it is stunning! Talk about knocking it out of the ballpark, it's absolutely gorgeous. Do you mind sharing the stats on the solasfera? I've never seen one of these in person...I'd really love to.

It's absolutely amazing, I love everything about it...a beautiful clasic look, and the proportions are perfect. Hopefully she'll be sitting when you give it to her, otherwise I think her knees are going to buckle!

So I went straight to the source on this one. Bought it from David S. the inventor and current patent holder of the Solasfera cut. He did an amazing job and also created the custom setting for me. I showed him the picture of the Harry Winston tapered baguette and he was able to re-create it for me to perfection!

Carat: 2.1
Cut: Solasfera Ideal Hearts and Arrows
Clarity: VS2
Color: I

The ring is made of 950 Platinum with two side baguettes of .2 Carats each. So total carat weight is 2.5 carats.

I have actually never liked the look of tapered baguette's with RB's. I just don't think most jewlers get the proportions very well. However I have to say that the jeweler really got this one right. I think the double claws help balance the RB with the baguette's and look quite elegant. This is the first time I will say that I love this design with an RB (when done right!)

I have actually never liked the look of tapered baguette's with RB's. I just don't think most jewlers get the proportions very well. However I have to say that the jeweler really got this one right. I think the double claws help balance the RB with the baguette's and look quite elegant. This is the first time I will say that I love this design with an RB (when done right!)

I was definitely concerned with the choice as I knew she wanted a cushion cut set in this tapered baguette ring. But when I saw the Solasfera next to even some of the more modern cut ones, e.g. Brellia and August Vintage, it blew it out of the water in terms of fire and scintillation. I could appreciate the more large, broad and bold faceted colors of the other cuts, but something just drew me to the more splintery bling factor of the Solasfera.

I agree the proportions had to be just right or the ring would look a bit off, maybe that whole "golden ratio" plays a factor. But I am thoroughly satisfied with the outcome...Hopefully she will too

That is seriously beautiful!! A total knock out.

And the jeweler did a great job but its not an exact match - HW's prongs aren't nearly that perfect! Well done!
