They're the same price. Both of the same quality (D,SI1,EX/EX/EX/no flour.) Does one shape sparkle more than the other? Would they face up the same size? (I know rounds face-up large).

It depends on the stones.
Can you post the links?

I actually received the GIA certs by fax, but they are about the same quality as far as I can see on the GIA certs. The inclusions are similar (minimal in the heart) and I've been assured that the cushion has no crushed-ice.

Do you have an ASET or IS picture for the diamonds?

No... I can ask, though.
Basically I haven't seen the stones in person (buying online) and I thought I wanted an RBC because they seem to sparkle the most, but I also like the shape of the cushion. So just wondering (generally speaking) what most people favor - since I can get a 3ct cushion for same price as 2.5ct round.

I never would buy a cushion unseen, or without data.
But I could buy a August Vintage Cushion at GOG without problem!

well, you should get what you favor, not what other people like :)

As far as the inclusions, no way to tell if a stone is eye-clean from the inclusion plot diagram-you must ask a trusted vendor or check out with your own eyes.

what do you mean by "assured that the cushion has no crushed ice" ? what type of cushion are you looking for? do you have pictures?

Have you gone to a store and compared cushion/round in person? That may help you decide. GOG also has some educational videos but I would recommend checking out stones in person so you can get an idea of the size tradeoff.

Ditto slg.

Is all about taste..

It's harder to buy (online) a good cushion than a good RB in any carat weight. If you're not sure, I'd say stick to the RB because you're going to get more diamonds from which to choose, and more people who can help you evaluate whether or not it's a good stone.

the only reasonable answer for this is, "One of each please!" :D

These are so different.... I would rather have the 3 carat cushion... the pic in my avatar is a 2.71 carat cushion. But if you love rounds you can have rounds set these days in wonderful cushion shaped settings that personally I adore. You kind of get the best of all worlds... a bit of halo, but not a round halo, you get a more interesting shape (IMO), you get a lot of presence. A 2.5c ideal round in a cushion setting is really gorgeous. The love for cushions though is kind of like loving an older car - you may not really be able to explain why its better but it makes you purr.

This would depend on prefrence, I love Cushions but the "Fire" of a Brilliant is unmatched.

I have a thing for cushions, so I'm a little biased there, but you need a lot more info in order to answer those questions. Yes, rounds do face up larger and cushions have a tendency to face up smaller. But there are so many different types of cut for the cushions we couldn't answer you until we saw images and all that other good stuff.
