My 2.2ct L antique cushion arrived yesterday and it''s SO yummy! I JUST LOVE IT, it looks even better
in the lighting in my apartment and outside than it did in the office at which I saw it in like a gazillion times before making up my mind!

So I''m seriously thinking about having my stone set like Snooper''s and Boston_Jeff''s beautiful solitaire with Leon''s signature double claw setting. When I asked the man himself for a quote it was $2000 which I think is pretty reasonable. However given how much we paid for the stone and LM''s quote for the setting, it''s a little over our budget.

I have my heart set on this particular setting - do you think I''ll be able to get a lower price quote if I ask Mark (at ERD) or anyone else (in NY) to copy the LM setting or does it really only depend on the cost of platinum? How much is the Leon premium and is it worth it? I know that this forum has some die hard Leon fans...so bring it on! Would love to hear people''s opinions.

On another separate note I just want to say that PS is such a fabulous forum! We educated ourselves from scratch reading all the helpful threads on RT and SMTR. And a big thank you to PSers who have also responded patiently to all my question- you guys ROCK (pun intended!)

Noone copies the prongs and clean lines, little donut underneath, quite like Leon.

ERD did nice small delicate double claw prongs for my Fiance''s ring, but I think if you want a really thin delicate piece you won''t find anyone able to quite get the proportions right like Leon.

How thin do you want the shank of the ring? You will definitely get a lower price from ERD although if its just a plain solitaire I''m surprised its $2000 from Leon I''d check back with him that seems high even for him.

Good-luck,
CCL

Go to Leon. You won''t get that quality else where.

Brian Gavin makes a lovely setting called Grace that he sells for about $1500, not the double claw prongs but the prongs look quite delicate and pointed. I think you are going have pay around that price for a custom platinum setting.

Mark Morrell also makes beautiful prongs, heart shaped, which I just love. But again the price is what it is for custom platinum. What is your setting budget?

And if anyone COULD copy Leon...they would.

For the extra $500 get the Leon if that is what you want. Would you consider saving up and setting your diamond into a temporary wg setting for a while? Those cost about $250.
