Hi PSers! I have a $2000 budget for a pair of studs (including setting which is around $300). Did some homework on various PS vendors and found the following pair, what do you think? Can you find another pair that's bigger and better? My overall preference (in the order of importance): Excellent cut / 0.5ct each / I colour / SI1 ...I know it's personal preference, but I do welcome any feedback, since this will be my first pair of studs and I'm not sure if my criteria is too high/low?! THANKS!!!!

All I can say is go for it! Those diamond seems gorgeous and the color is perfect for earrings! :appl:

Promising from the numbers.

Ditto both PPs. Just wondering, though-do you have the diameters? They should be close based on the numbers, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Can't wait to see these! I have studs around this size and I literally wear them everywhere. They're very sizeable, but not over the top. Congrats and please post pictures.

ETA: If you did still want to go bigger, you could drop to J SI2 or slightly lower and still have nice stones. In full disclosure, I had a pair of 1.1 ctw J's that I sent back before the ones I have now because I wasn't jazzed about the color. However, many people are happy with J's or even K's for earrings, especially if you have a complimentary skin tone. I have a cool complexion and am very pale.:)

As SiameseKitty said, the diameter measurement is more important to match than the weight. I am probably overly picky, but I try to keep the tables closer to the same size as well. You won't really be able to see that when they are on the opposite side of your head (!), but I would probably not go more than 1% difference myself.

Ohhh, good point SiameseKitty and diamondseeker2006!! Totally forgot to take note of the measurements of the diamonds.

So here they are... 5.09-5.11 and 5.24-5.26 ... that's a difference of 0.13 - 0.17mm ... Is that too significant?

Also, I did consider dropping to SI2, but didn't find that huge of a price difference...? As for colour J, I'm not sure... I've read the range for "J" is big so I feel like it's a hit or miss kind of thing?

Iheartbora,

Unfortunately, I think that diameter difference would be noticeable. I guess it depends how picky you are, but mine are .03-.04 apart and while not glaring obvious, I can notice it close up.

As for color/clarity, 1ctw really is a great size. If I were in your shoes, I would stick with I SI1, though some others would disagree. I might even consider G-H SI2. Are you shopping online or at a B&M?
