18k band wear against my 18k solitaire

My solitaire is 18k and low set. I just purchased a band (also 18k) to wear with it. Now that I look at it I’m very concerned that the band rubbing against the ring will create wear. Maybe this solitaire is better worn alone. I did size up so the band is loose 5.5 vs 5.25 ring. Have you thought of a curved band? I have both straight and curved.

It’s an option. I have a curved band with my wedding set and it drove me nuts. It always twisted and never lined up so I ended up soldering the two. I don’t mind a gap. Just concerned about wearing each other down or causing scratches.

They probably will but not any time soon.
Just keep an eye on them and see how much wear they cause on each other. My guess is your band will soften and not have such crisp engraving on the outer edges and you might see some scuffing on the prongs. They're nice and wide at the point where the band hits tho. If you rotate which sides sit closest, it will minimise the wear.

I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s life, what’s the point if you can’t enjoy it? I say wear it and don’t worry.

Given the style of the. solitaire, I wouldn't worry too much. Will it show some wear? Yes. That's inevitable. Will it wear in such a way that it causes you to lose your center stone? Incredibly unlikely.

I am in LOVE with your rings! I agree with everyone else... wear it, enjoy it, embrace the journey!

Your set is gorgeous. I would wear it, enjoy it and if some time in the distant future you find noticeable wear on either piece, repair the ER and/or re-carve or replace the band. Another good move is to buy a few stacking band options, and switch it up from time to time to limit the amount of time the two original rings are in contact with each other.

What’s cool is the engraving is just on the top and not sides of the band. I’m more concerned about my beautiful solitaire

@Mjay & @meesmom I posted a picture of it in this thread and a few other places if you search my posts.

Also @Mjay you can apply a matte finish yourself with a scotch brite pad; no need to go cu$tom just for that if you find one you otherwise like.

@Mjay I love both your setting and the band! Care to share any details on who made them?

I had ivy&rose custom make the setting for my diamond. It was inspired by Victor barbone. My feather band is by Sara swell

Thanks for the replies everyone. I’m definitely in love with the band but considering sizing down. My ring size is 5.25 and I got a 5.5 (seems more like a 5.75 though) I’d hate to return it and wait 3-4 weeks for a 5.25 But I’m considering it. I am planning on getting an open band spacer made but I’m going to wait a bit since gold is high. For now I’m searching for a 22k gold spacer. I figure this will cause less wear to my 18k rings. I tried the look with a fake amazon ring and I’m loving it! Also makes my 5.5 fit better to have another ring 39AB40E2-AE99-4952-AC62-B09FB4636839.jpeg

Love the stack! But don't do 22kt for a stacker for that purpose. The cheapie band looks great! If you don't love the shine, I bet it could be dulled down to match the other two very easily.
