I was looking at Trocadero this morning and saw this petite darling, which the dealer describes as "conservatively 150 carats". Can you imagine toting around 150 carats on your finger? Yikes.

that is insane!
it looks like something that belongs out in the desert where it can pick high frequency signals from outer space

crazy! youd drown in the tub!

WARNING! - Can produce carpal finger syndrome!

That''s crazy - I bet a hand shot would look utterly ridiculous, even if you were the Queen of England.

Here''s a gemstone ''boulder'' that might be less dangerous to wear...

Aqua briollette, 120cts, Circa 1910

wiidget

PS: I found it here: http://www.hancocks-london.com/acatalog/index.htm
my jeweler has a 100 carat aquamarine pendant on consignment - I should get a pic of it!!!

My jeweler has an amazing antique 45+ carat EC aqua with diamond pave scroll-y bars- it''s deeelllliiiiccciiioouusss. It''s also incredibly heavy- I must have it lol.

That is odd looking - reminds me of a doorknob I saw somewhere!

Ah - pet peeve of mine. That is a lemon quartz -- I don''t think they should really call it lemon citrine. (Yes citrine is in the quartz family.) And for all the natural fans in here, it is a treated stone.

Anyway, I sold an 400ct citrine to a nice lady over a year ago. She later told me that she doesn''t know what to do with it -- her jeweler thinks it''s too big for her to wear. It would make a nice paper weight though.

Ultra big gemstone jewelry popularity seems to be subsiding among the trendsetters here (on the west coast). Anybody else noticing that trend?
