- g-i color, preferably not F though
- Can go as low as SI1 (eye clean of course)
- AGS 0 specs--doesn't necessarily have to be AGS 000, but needs to be an exceptional cut. GIA or AGS Ex/Ex/Ex is fine as long as its scoring a great HCA for instance...

I probably wouldn't choose that particular stone due to the depth being too great. You want to stop at 62.3% at the most. A 1.5 ct. stone should have a diameter close to 7.4mm, and this stone is only 7.2. However, it may turn out to be the best bet for your budget, so I'd keep it on the list for now. I think you could go up in color and get close to the same diameter in the 1.3 ct. range. I can't look right now but I'll try to later this evening.

I do think the discount on the settings would apply.

With the high crown and thicker girdle the depth on that WF ES is, as DS said, making it face-up smaller than other 1.5cts with different proportions. It doesn't seem to have much of a brand premium though, and WF's policies regarding their branded stones are very generous, so if you like a particular WF setting and you feel those policies would be of benefit to you I think it could be a nice buy. There's nothing *wrong* with it other than that it faces up smaller than other stones of similar weight. If you like to see lots of coloured light output in various types of lights it's a fantastic choice, not so much if you prefer to see more white light return...

1.53 I SI1 $11.4k http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1408252.asp
Crystal inclusion on top of the black arrow under the kite facet so should be well-placed to cover with a prong, confirm with JA

Nothing wrong with a 55.8 table. :)) Table can be 54-58 but I do not favor 54 personally. The diameter has to do with how big the stone looks, not the table. Depth 60-62.3 is good range for ideal cut stones.

Here's a good buy on a 1.35 H SI1:

Similar stone that is an ACA:

Selected:  60.4% depth, 58% table, 34.5° crown angle, 40.6° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 0.8 - Excellent
within TIC  range
Even though HCA grades cut more effectively than systems like the AGS, it does not yet factor in symmetry and minor facets. Having found a diamond that scores well, you should employ an expert appraiser to examine the stone. If you decide not to, then at least compare the diamond to others and/or view it through an ideal-scope.

A score below 2 (Excellent) means you have eliminated known poor performers (more than 95% of all diamonds). Your own personal preference may be for a diamond with an HCA score of 1.5 more rather than one with a lower score of say 0.5.

Many diamonds with excellent scores may not be traditional 'ideal cuts' but we believe their value will rise once the GIA establishes its cut standard.
This system is being continually fine-tuned and results may change without notice.
