My wedding and reception venue (giant paddleboat https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/check-out-my-venue-lots-of-pics.112361/) is being moved to another area, way too far to travel to.

I''m so bummed! I was so excited to finally have a place picked out, plus I was LOVING it because they do everything for you. Pretty much stress-free for everyone involved. I called today to give a down payment over the phone and they told me that yesterday they decided the boat wasn''t getting enough business in the area and had to move.

There is another boat (a yacht http://starlitecruises.com/starlite-dinner-cruises-clearwater-st-petersburg-florida-majesty.htm) owned by the same company in the area that I could use. Everything would still be no hassle, but my poor fiancee was so into it specificly because it was a paddleboat. Oh well.....

On the upside, I personally think the yacht is prettier. I just wanted my DF to love it as much as I did. Now we have to go see the yacht and make sure we love it. Good thing I hadn''t actually settiled on bridesmaids dresses or flowers yet. I was matching it to the decor of the boat!

It''s not often someone posts about their venue moving prior to the wedding! If nothing else, it will make for good stories later on...

I hope it all works out well for you!

Kelli,

I hope the yacht works out for you. This is definitely a story to be told many times again. Good luck with the yacht.

HAHA, I''m so dumb! When I first started reading your post, for some reason I was having these visuals in my head of some huge wedding venue, lawn and all, being lifted Wizard of Oz style and dropped somewhere else (perhaps on my DH''s eeee-vil ex-wife...

) Personally, I like the decor of the yacht better anyway--it''s a little more neutral so would be less likely to clash or distract, KWIM? Hopefully, your man-friend will like it, too, and this whole thing''ll just be a tiny blip on the radar!

... I love the yacht!

It has a really ''jazzy'' feel.. I can''t really describe it.. it kind of reminds me of a casino. I think its cool

Yep, that is Clearwater, FL! It''s a pretty beautiful place IMO, but I''m not all that familiar with it. I went there for my prom after party back in high school (ten years ago!) and have been there a few times since. It should make for a very nice mini-moon, especially if you''re not around beaches all the time. It''s really fun with a nice pier and plenty of shops and restaurants, but I couldn''t get around it without a GPS!

Hopefully I''ll be more familiar with it soon, since DF said he''d be open to the yacht.

Thanks for all your responses everyone!

Glad to hear that your FI is open to the yacht! I loved the character of your old venue, too, but I think this one is much more of a blank canvas and will be more fun to plan around in the end!

Kelli I just realized I never responded to you (think you got lost somewhere in-between my exams and bridal portraits, lol)! Thank you for getting back to me!
