I have searched a lot on pricing of rubies, and I have not found anywhere that shows a price quide.

What determines ruby value?

Thanks

Ruby pricing is complicated, it spans 5 pages in "The Guide", which is a wholes price guide for colored stones. Many things come into play with a ruby including: Origin, color, clarity, size and cut, and treatment. A huge difference in price between a glass filled stone, and an unheated stone.

Gene, Jonn,

Yes, too complicated to cover in even 50 pages.

Generally, as a non-standardized natural product and as per definition unique one might say there is no market price for ruby. There is only the current sum of sales being done, and the resulting average prices and out of this one may conclude some global trends.

There might be a price for low quality rubies in bigger quantities.

Also, though obvious, service levels and buying experiences are often forgotten when people ask for "the" price of ruby.
Buying a ruby at a no-guarantee dirt-shop on Silom Road in Bangkok, or at a high-end jeweler in London, or online, or on a gem show will make a huge difference, easily with the factor 2 or 3 in both directions.
