Hello everyone,

I'm about to spend 50k on a new engagement ring and I need all the help I can get. Besides being a 10 yr anniversary gift from my hubby, it's also a replacement E-ring since my original ring was stolen last year when our home got burglarized. I had a RB 1.36ct solitaire with G color and VVS1 clarity, and it was gorgeous! This time I'm going with something different and I really like the Asscher cut. I know it's a cut that looks a lot smaller than a round, so I'm trying to maximize on the dimensions to at least look like it's a 2 or 2.5ct
Please share with me your opinions and expertise ;) Thank you!

Will need images, ASET image, crown height at least and abazia will not be able to supply that.

You can check with a vendor that can provide that, such as GOG/WF, and ask them to source some potential stones for you.

try to give Jonathan at Good Old Gold a call and see what he can find for you, a video link that may help:

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Thank you guys! I guess I'm going to need more info from the diamonds besides the GIA report. I'm going to get my ring done by Leon and thought I'd use their diamond concierge guy (Perry) to pick the diamond. Do you think Perry would be able to get me all the info, images and ASET? or should I just get the diamond from WF or GOG and have it sent over to Leon? Anyone have any experiences going either way?

I don't know, but man are you making me jealous :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something:

Congratulations on such a wonderful gift, keep us posted!

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Perry is apparently quite good with cushion, not sure about asscher though. I do not think they will be able to give you these data, images but no harm asking. But if the cannot give you these images, data, you will have to decide if you want to trust them with the selection.

I would also encourage you to contact Jonathan at Good Old Gold. He picks asschers with superior cut and it is just worth having an expert sourcing your stone. I'm sure he's sent many stones over to Leon!

Can't wait to see your finished ring!

Ohhhh petrock<3, you shouldn't be jealous. You already got a gorgeous Leon ring on your finger. :cheeky:

I can't wait to make a decision and get my ring. I already have the setting picked out, just need the center piece  Hopefully I can choose which diamond to get sometime this week or next at the most.

Perry should be calling me back this week to let me know his findings. I don't know if I should call the other guys, I would feel bad if I asked them to help me get images for the diamonds and then end up not purchasing from them.

Ha! I fooled you with my photoshop skills! :naughty: That was just a mock up I did, because I am a little bit psycho and have too much time on my hands! My husband is doing a project in Mexico and I can't work here for a couple months.

I wanted to "try on" both of my options

Do you want to share your setting yet? I love Asschers, you are getting such a great size.

I wouldn't feel bad about the others, you may end up purchasing from them in the end. Whoever has the best stone.

Keep us posted, how exciting!

petrock<3: Huh, somehow I thought that the ring you have is a Leon and that you were considering upgrading your ring to another Leon or McTeigue. Oh well...either one you choose is going to be stunning. The McTeigue is specially unique.
Anyway, this is the setting I picked for my replacement/upgrade e-ring. Nothing too fancy, just simple and classic.

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

oooo oooo oooo love the setting!

I think both of the stones look nice, but I don't know much about asschers.

My only comment would be that I think they show color more, so that would make me lean towards the F.

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Do you have ASET images of either stone?

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

The second is almost a mm bigger, even though it might look a little warmer, I would make that compromise. Will you be able to see either in person or get an ASET image or video? And which one does Perry think looks better?

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Hard to compare without seeing them side to side, or in an ASET where you might get a better idea of the patterns. However, personally I would not buy a step cut in this size range below a G colour - I found the tint quite noticeable.

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

In that size, the tint would be noticable in the H. How much does that matter to you?

However, the bigger size would be absolutely gorgeous.

Very hard decsion, I think I would take the H.

Can I show this thread to my fiance as the the "done thing" for 10 year anniversaries? :cheeky:

LOL, Rosetta! I am currently trying to convince my husband that a substantial 5-stone RHR is the "done thing" for 1st anniversaries...and that gathering stones for them is the "done thing" 4 1/2 months into the marriage

I think number 1 is gorgeous. Personally, and this is just me, I have an E and I love hoe bright it is. I think, esp for an asscher, that would be gorgeous.

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Thank you everyone for your comments! I'm just like all of you...size? or color? I showed the pics to my husband and he said they look all the same to him :angryfire:, so to just go with the biggest one. I'm trying to see if I can get some ASET images from the vendor of the 3.74ct stone. I'm flying to NY this week to take a look at the 3.46ct one and maybe some other stones for comparison. Maybe if I see a H color next to the F color, I'll be able to make up my mind.

Roseta: Yeah!!! Definitely show this to your hubby! Put it this way: $60K diamond divided by 10 years, it's $6000/yr. Divide $6000/yr by 12 months and you get $500!! Then you ask him..."Isn't being your lovely wife for 10 years worth more than $500 a month?" :saint:
Pancake: Good luck to you! If you manage it, please make sure you share your secrets :naughty:

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

Hi Aliao. :wavey: Sadly, I just traded in my asscher because I wasn't getting the use out of it. they are such tantalizing stones, aren't they?

I'm a little concerned about the smaller stone. The first picture looks like it was taken in a spotlight because you are seeing fire and sparkle. The second picture looks a little more "objective" (for lack of a better word) and there are noticeable dark areas under the table. The pictures of the larger stone, taken in a similar light as that second picture of the 3.46, show alternating patterns of light and contrast under the table. I'm no expert, but I think this may be better.

I hope an asscher expert chimes in, but those ASET images are going to be key.

Ok, I was able to get some images from whiteflash for a 3.7ct F color, VS1 stone. Please share your thoughts on this beauty...

My thoughts? Droooooool. It's amazing. But that's not a professional opinion.

Re: 10 Yr Anniversary E-ring. Please help pick 3.5ct Assche

I wish you could get all 3 asschers together in a pic (or 11ty) in the same lighting and angle conditions, but that last one is the one I gravitate toward.

I'm dying to see what you end up with!

Any way to arrange to see the 3.74ct H in person?
