I have this Mahenge that I adore. It's one of the nicest stones I own, and the color is very saturated, even though my camera stinks at taking photos in incadescent lighting. I had to take photos indoors because I'm terrified to take it out into the sun until it's set. I've posted photos of it before, but it's from Tan, and here's the vendor photo and my photo. As you can see the stone is very clean and very well cut.

Unfortunately, as everyone admitted, trillions are unpopular because the settings for them are hideous. They were right. I couldn't find ANY nice trillion settings, and I looked all over the net. :nono: :knockout:

Well, I did see this lanbo setting for a pear shaped stone and asked the store owner if he could make it for a trillion. I loved the two tone and the gallery, and the micropave. It had all the qualities of a setting I love, and I thought it would make for a fabulous trillion ring. I also love that the top of the halo isn't flat, but curved, and the adorable curved split shank. This is for a 5x7 pear and my trillion is a 7.5 mm stone, so it probably needed a completely new mold.

Well, he said he could make it for a 7.5 mm trillion (about the size of my stone), and I was crossing my fingers it would be as beautiful as the pear setting. Well, he also made it into a listing, so I almost fell off my chair when I got it. Here are the photos. This has got to be the first trillion setting I ever loved.

I'm picking up my stone from the jewelers tomorrow, and I promise to take more pics when it's not wobbling inside of a setting, and I'm terrified to lose it, but here is the preliminary shot. The diamonds sparkle and are white and bright. I'm really giddy about this ring. I can't wait to take more photos.

Wow, that is one lovely stone and setting. It's going to look great! Congrats on finding the perfect setting for your beautiful stone.

TL he has done a fantastic job for you! The setting is gorgeous. You're totally right about the halo, being curved, shaped into a volume instead of just a flat stuck on thing really makes it into an organic element of the ring. And normally I dont like halos!
Well done!

Another shot from the side so you could see how the halo curves.

This shot is for LD - a really bad shot of the fluor, which is incredible. My camera stinks at taking fluor photos.

Oh TL Lanbo has really come through on this one hasn't he? Like you, I'm not normally a fan of trilliants or their settings but I totally agree that this setting is very lovely (as is the stone of course). The diamonds in the setting look very good - did you upgrade or are these his standard ones? I can't wait to see pictures of the ring set. Please will you take some handshots as well when it's done?

I love it! Gorgeous style!

TL, you have a true TALENT for finding fabulous stones! :appl:

Seriously, it's a skill!

And the setting is so unique and cool, I've never seen anything that nice for a trillion before!

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

The stone alone is a stunner, but in that setting? WOW!

Wow! TL, your spinel is so pretty and the setting is perfect! I love it!

That's going to look really pretty! Nice that he was able to do it for a trillion..I may check his store out!

It is totally, absolutely fantastic.

TL, I like that combo so much that it literally makes me breathless every time I see a combination of that saturated pink/red, the yellow gold sliver and those diamonds. Envyyyyy, and then of course I'm happy for you

Nice pink pretty ring!

I'm waiting for Uppy to come in and say something like "Mehenge ****!" So since I know that is already a coin phrase here i will stick with what I know- opera! B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!!!!!

You created a model for hundreds of trillion owners! It's just lovely.

OMG !!!
A beautiful Trillion setting!!!!
And just in time for Christmas, with that gorgeous Spinel ~ WONDERFUL :cheeky:  :cheeky:

Lovely! I have liked that pear setting for some time as well.

Wow, I like the setting even better than the original, pear one! This is going to be a beautiful ring!

  That is really, just a gorgeous color! I cannot wait for the hand shots, that ring is going to be a stunner. It's really awesome that lanbo could manipulate the setting too. Trillions are not my favorite, but that little baby could park it, in my jewelry box any day of the week.

I’m incredibly fussy about settings but the one you’ve chosen for your new Mahenge is spectacular; it looks custom and so well made. The metal looks even and well polished, the melees are clean, white and bright. The curved split shank and slightly angled double halo are nice touches that make it look expensive. Add the smashing red trillion into it and it’s a stunner!

looks better with your warm colored trillion than it did with the pear!

Beautiful mahenge, love the trillion setting.

Thank you all so much for the kind words, and as a side note, I did not upgrade the diamonds. They were beautiful regardless.

Here's a hand shot with a couple of other favorite rings (two LOGR's), I just got it back from the jeweler. She said to wear it a while, and if I wanted to redo the prongs, to come back. Not sure if I like the prongs, but I might redo them like my Loliondo spessartite with six separate prongs (one on the side of each corner). However, the ring (aside from the prong issue) is really beautiful and the stone just glows. Very ruby like IMO.

Got to love those spinels!!

If there ever was a beautiful ring with great kharma, this is it! This is the spinel that you saw on Tan's site and you coveted for a long time before you hit the BIN button, right? You get good kharma points just for being patient. Then, you work with Lanbo, totally take a risk with reasonable expectations (in other words, not too high) and you get a setting that exceeded your expectations (not to mention looks elegant and expensive). Total kharma all the way around! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Plus, the stone is unbelievable, to borrow an expression, its totally M______ P___, and its bling, bling, bling

Please teach us all how to find those great stones from Tan!

Perfect fit and the setting looks expensive and nicely made. The prong detracts from the shape of the trillion a bit. I am envious you have a good jeweller who'll set your stone, the ones around where I live just aren't good but are snobbish towards these types of LOGR and Lan.bo settings, goodness I don't know why when their work aren't even good and expensive to boot.
