Found this little thing online and picked it up…..
I’m a professional photographer and noticed the jewelry is often photoshopped with flat lighting.
I adjusted the contrast to be more realistic… this adds saturation but I did not add saturation specifically or intentionally. That said stone looks like this.
This will by far be my largest, Alexandrite…. I feel like I can expect a strong color change based on the initial color I see here, but I would like you all opinion as to what I can expect on that.
I have a nice little collection of Alexandrites and odd/unique gems….
The setting is absolutely horrible. I don’t like it. I talked to David Klass about adding maybe some engraving or something to it as a cheaper scenario….. that might make it appear slightly more modern things like that so that I don’t have to totally reset it
Anyways, I’d love to hear your thoughts about what the color change may or may not be

I had ChatGPT draw up some examples of ideas to reset this I don’t know that I wanna spend the money on that but I do like some of the settings a lot better I guess first I’ll see how the color changes

I really like that second one!!

I’ll have to see about the cost to melt it and re-create it. Now, I would be stepping down a little bit of a size which would allow the gold to thicken up in some areas. I also have a small sapphire ring. It’s a decent amount of gold but the sapphire is ugly. It was very cheap but it’s also 14 karat and he could melt that and use that gold as well, but I don’t have any experience on the cost of melting gold to re-create a ring

It may not even be worth doing

Do you have any experience on that?
and what are your thoughts on the color change possibility anyway like I guess
Maybe when I receive it, I won’t like it

Unfortunately, I have never had a ring melted down in order to make another, so I don't have much input in that respect. And I am also not an alexandrite expert. I think I should let others chime in. I do hope you love it in person though!

I’m not sure if I should keep it
I’m attaching photos of several of my alexandrite rings.
The top four are all Alexandrite. The bottom with a diamond halo is a sapphire that changes green to purple.
The colors are pretty good for the color change, but the stone is just very dark but with that said it is a large carat alexandrite don’t know if it’s worth keeping

It's certainly a great size... but only you know if it's worth keeping. I do think your other alex has more dynamic color.

You're making me want an alexandrite!

I’m considering selling top left circle ring

I'm wasting too much money on gems/settings at the moment, but thank you for letting me know! Best of luck if you wish to sell.
