I found two comparable stones only difference is the size. Am i better off to get the larger stone and cheaper setting (around $650 pave) or smaller stone and more expensive setting $1200. The difference in the price of the stones is approx 2500.

Any chance you could also post specs on the two stones??

IMO, I'd buy the best cut stone for what your budget can afford, and what remains, put into a setting. The setting could be a temp one until funds (or an anniversary/event/milestone) allow an upgrade. But you can't go wrong buying the best diamond you can afford!

I would say the setting differece is $600, in relation to the 10-12K for the diamond... suck it up and get the pave setting?

+1 Ditto JulieN. When you are in that zone, what's another $600?? I mean, yes, it is $600, but overall in the grand scheme of things I'd say its not much. My advice would be do it once and do it well....

Both are lovely, but I think I'd pick the 1.75 --- but admittedly, not a diamond expert!

Yeah, go for the 1.75 regardless of the setting! Nice!!!

Definitely the 1.75...love the smaller table and so probably a higher crown....Agree get the pave and do it right with the larger stone. She will love it.

I like the 1.75 with the 54 table. I love small tables... and big size, of course! If budget is an issue, I'd go with just get a basic setting, you can always change up later. That big stone can steal the show on it's own! Good luck with your project!

Both are gorgeous, but I say bigger!!
