Go try diff sizes on to see what appeals to you. Take a gal friend for a 2nd opinion. You might like something between those sizes.

Or,

Get a cz in 1.5 ct and see if you like the size, after wearing for a couple of weeks.

The cz thing is really good advice. This sounds silly, so only do this in the privacy of your own home and with no one around - but you can also take the mm diameter of a 1.5 ct vs a 2 ct, draw the circle on a piece of paper, cut it out, and tape it to your ear to see the difference. I think you will see a difference in size, but whether or not that matters for the look you''re trying to achieve really depends on, like others said, the size of your lobes.

I personally think 1.5 carats is a huge earring! I''d go try some on just to see what you like and where your budget will go, but 1.5 carats is definitely more than respectable.

is it big difference visually from 1.5 to 2ct or not so much?

I would say yes, definitely. I have 3.444cttw earrings, that's approx 1.7ct earring in each ear, and can see the visual difference between that and a 2 ct stud.

whotheyare,

I was going to say that I agreed with Phoenix, but that is probably from a woman's perspective. When I had a diamond ring of slightly over 2 carats I felt it was too big to wear and I went back to wearing one that was just over 1.5 carats. As you pointed out in your initial posting, however, women have smaller hands, etcetera. We notice small differences more. The difference between 1.5 and 2.0 carats might not seem like as much to you, especially if you are a big man.

Why not try on some CZ earrings in sizes that approximate the size of 1.5 carat; 2 carat; 2.5 carat; and 3 carat diamonds and see what you like most?

Deborah,

I did the exact same thing. 2+ c was too much for me and I went to just over 1.5. There can actually be too much of a good thing.

To the original poster: you won''t know until you try it on.

Exactly. No stranger on the internet can tell you what the right size for you is!
