I am weary of going below 2mm. Several of etsy sellers give one free diamond pop out replacement and I think that says it all.

How can stones stay in a super thin ring? I'm interested in the answer.

I have a ring with a 1.2mm band. its gorgeous. That said, the most heavy duty thing I do while its on is pick up a fork. A band that thin with all those diamonds in it is swiss cheese and is not what I would call structurally sound.

Its your money, you can do whatever you feel is best, but I wouldn't (and didn't) spend a lot on mine.

In some cases you're paying for branding. SK does great work, he really does, but ask yourself how worth it is really is. If I'm reading right, the etsy options are also hand made. They might use a cast, but its something you might want to ask about. For some, going SK is worth the money. For me, the etsy options are quite nice and about what I would spend. I do not need to hear my pocket book screaming obscenities at me

You can do a search on Aby Green (and Abby Green).
You should find some positive threads from PSERS that have
Bought from her.

I'd buy a cheapie and test it out before spending on an expensive piece. I'm intrigued by super thin pave bands, and a 1 or 1.2 are on my wishlist. I have a 1.5, it's a few years old and I I've never had a problem with it losing shape or losing a stone. But yeah, I'd be hesitant to spend over $500 on something I wasn't sure I'd like, or wasn't certain of the quality.

i have a very thin wedding band, likely 1.2 mm, max 1.5. i've worn it now for 3+ years and it looks as good as the day i bought it! however, it's a shared prong, not pave. the prongs are teeny tiny, and it looks like pave, but seems much stronger and has so far held up extremely well. just a thought!

This is my 3rd attempt at replying to this thread (damn unstable internet!) so I'm going to keep it fairly short!

I have a tiny micropave band from Zina Tahiri which I bought preloved, and was informed it was 0.36ctw at size 5.5. I can't actually find a comparable size in her store with these numbers, but after going through all the listings and whatnot, I'm estimating it's somewhere around 1.3-1.4mm.

I've worn this ring regularly- it's my go to for most days at work and I am NOT gentle on my hands... at all. I wash them 30x a day, I rip gloves on and off, I bash them against things... you name it, I've probably done it to my poor hands and rings. Having said that, I haven't had ANY issues at all with this ring. I haven't lost a single stone or had any kind of deformity that I can see.

Her rings are pretty reasonable. Mine is the light pink diamond in rose gold, but the white diamond ones are cheaper. I can see that she DOES have a 1.2mm one. Having not owned one in this thickness (as far as I can gather anyway!) I can't say how that one will hold up. But the ones marginally larger have been fine for me!

Here's a pic of mine stacked with some other bands for comparison to give you an idea of how delicate this thing is!

I am the queen of dainty stackers and I would avoid anything under 1.5.

That's great info - thanks for the recommendation :) I'm looking for a thin band as well, but unfortunately the 'matching' LM band is a wee bit out of budget once the Aussie $ + import taxes are added. (Maybe I'll be lucky and get it for an anniversary *dreams*). The Zina 1.2m looks gorgeous and at $305 ($400 AUD) is right on budget.

Fellow Aussie here!

Given the import tax situation, if you're set on wanting a super thin micropave band, i would definitely go for a cheaper option from etsy. This knowing how much of a bother it is to have to deal with international shipping and the headache you would have with returns or repairs... at least with a cheaper band you don't have to worry about the tax... and it would likely be less upsetting if a cheaper ring was damaged as opposed to a more pricey one (though of course we are hoping that doesn't happen!)

ETA: I have REALLY small hands... as in I wear XS gloves and size 4 rings. So even in that photo of my stack, a 1.3-1.4mm band would likely look comparatively more dainty on someone else!

That's awesome - I'm 4.5! And you're right, damage to an etsy band is far more tolerable than damage or issues with a $1k+ band from elsewhere, even if it was an Aussie seller. Will add this to my "things to organise soon" list :)
