Hi guys, need your opinion on this 1.20 round diamond.
It scores 1.6 on the HCA but I'm scared the diamond is too shallow?

They are asking around $10,100 USD.
Is it a good buy?

No it is not too shallow. The price is high, though.

Do you think it's a good cut diamond? The dimensions are quite large compare to other 1.20.

What sort of price should I be looking at then?
The diamond you show me, is only Very Good in both Polish and Symmetry.
It scores a 2.3 on the HCA. It is also a messier looking stone.

I bought my RB diamond last November. It has similar proportions to the one you listed (more of a 60/60 diamond) and is a 1.42 carat G VS2. 60/60 diamonds have great spread, so they are often larger in diameter. Although most people on PS prefer more "ideal" cut diamonds, I can assure you that there are some very beautiful 60/60 diamonds out there (if they are cut well). Also, if you are not a fan of a lot of contrast in a diamond (like the James Allen diamond), 60/60 may be the way to go. I couldn't be happier with the way my diamond performs.

As for price, I do think USD $10,100 is a little high. To give you an idea, I paid about $1500 more for my diamond. It was on Blue Nile for USD $13,000 at the time, but I bought it directly from the dealer, so I paid less. With that said, if you are able to see this stone in person and are more comfortable with that, I don't think the price is unreasonable.

Hope that helps!

How does your diamond perform? Is it as brilliant as other triple excellent stones?
Would you say my is 60/60 stone?
The reason why the price is more expensive is because I'm buying it in store in Australia. I have seen the diamond in person.

My diamond performs very well! I've been guilty of going to Tiffany's every now and then and comparing my diamond to theirs. I just tell them I'm considering upgrading and try on a few of their rings on my middle finger to compare. To my eyes, I have a very hard time seeing much of a difference in fire or brilliance.

I do think the diamond you posted has similar proportions to a 60/60 diamond. If you don't want to buy online, it might be a good option since you've been able to see it in person. If the store has a return policy, I would buy the diamond and observe it under different lighting conditions (since jewelry store lighting is usually designed to make most diamonds look good) and decide whether you like it.

Although I don't have much experience with diamonds, I would have to say that I think my diamond looks absolutely beautiful.
