1.12 H VS2 61.4 depth and 57 table. I found this stone in Boston from a small dealer in the Diamond building. The asking price is $5500. Seems like a good value. Is it? If not what is it worth? Is it too deep at 61.4?

Also, looked at a diamond from Diamond Cutters International. a 1.10 H VS2 61 61 at $7542. For two grand more it seems like a rip. Is the table too large at 61?

Help!?

You might want to run a serach here for price reference... both among generic and H&A stones...

Who certifies the first stone ? GIA? EGL?

And yeah, 7500 for a stone way off the ideal range is a tad much...

A short 'fact finding' serch got stones listed between $3700 (discount on EGL cert) and $6700 per carat for the specs you menton. And it is no telling wether the 7k ones were 80% better.

There are a few AGS0, H&A stones with these specs and these wouc=d come at around $6000/ct - with the premium on cut there. At least there is an explanation for why these are priced higher...

Should you wander what On Eart am I calling an "Ideal Cut"...

HERE's an dexample. These are diamonds with high precission cutting, in line with AGS's top cut grade among others. Obviously, this is just an example, with may more sellers online and off offering such stones.

The diamond you can see at this link was at $5,000.

Ideal round diamonds should have a depth of 59%-62.5%. and Table must fall between 53% and 57%, i do not think it is too deep. Is the diamond certified GIA or EGL USA, (do not take EGL Europe). Price depends on the certification.
