Hello,

Long time lurker on this site and I'm considering the above specifications for a round diamond. I was hoping to get the diamond and the setting for well under $8,000. So main goals are:

- <$8,000 for the engagement ring (diamond and ring)
minimum of 1 carat in weight
- eye clean (which is either VS2 or SI1 correct?)
- colorless to the naked eye (which is either H or I color correct?)
- excellent cut

I've got a few James Allen diamonds I'm scoping out:

Some of the other comparable diamonds had bigger blemishes so I didn't choose them.

Either of these would leave about $1,500 for the setting and another $1,000 for tax before hitting $8,000.

Re: 1.00 carat, eye clean (VS2?), color = H, I, cut = excell

Sorry to bump this post but does anyone have any advice?

Are those ones I chose good ones?

Is VS2 considered eye clean and H, I considered colorless to the naked eye?

Any advice or direction would be appreciated, thank you.

You might start to see a little bit of tint in an I colored stone. It will still look white but not a bright white if thats what you are
looking for. Seems like H is really the cut off if you want a whiter stone. VS1 stones are almost always clean from the top
down but you may be able to see something tiny from the side view. You need to ask the vendor if the stone is eye-clean if
it is an SI1. Tell them what your definition of eye-clean is (6 inches away, etc.).

The crown and pavilion angles on the first stone you picked are not complimentary. It looks like there will
be leakage under the table. It is also a little deep and faces up a little bit small for a 1 carat. No to this stone.

The second stone you picked is considered a 60/60 stone (table/depth). This stone is a good option. The angles
are good and it faces up a nice size.

I will look around to see if there are any H colored stones that will work for you.

Edit ...this is the only H I could fine. You would have to ask JA if it is eye-clean. May not be.
