Should I trust the GemEx rating of a Leo diamond ...

I originally purchased a Helzberg Diamonds Radiant Star for an engagement ring (145 facet, 1.40 ct, I1, G color, cushion cut)--It too had a GemEx report included which rated the diamond Very High on all three levels of brillance, scintillation, and fire.

I feel ordinarily the Leo's would probably sell (relatively speaking) in the same neighborhood that I appraised this one for, or less. *The proportions of the diamond give it a technical AGA Cut Class of 3A, but the 8 additonal facets give it an appearance of diamonds ranking higher. *Overall I felt the Leo was a pleasant diamond.

Was my Leo diamond worth it? | PriceScope Forum

That sounds like a lovely stone and $1355 is a reasonable price. Not everyone is in love with the facet design of the Leo's but this could be said of every single design out there, including the most popular. Leo’s are definitely not junk and liking something that’s a little bit outside of the mainstream is NOT a defect.

When I was shopping for a diamond engagement ring several weeks back ago, one of the first stones that I saw was the Leo diamond by Leo Schachter at Jared, a nationwide chain of jewelers. The sales person kept extolling the virtues of their "patented" cuts (not to mention the pressure to buy) and how it outshined the other diamonds out there.

Leo Diamonds- are they worth the $$? | PriceScope Forum

The Leo diamond does have more cuts in it (facets) and it does give it more shine and brightness to it. If you hold the leo diamond up to a normal diamond you can tell how much more brighter it actually is. Plus the leo diamond is very unique. Each diamond has a number laser engraved into the diamond and can only be seen under a stong mangifier.

Leo Diamond - thoughts? | PriceScope Forum

Upon leaving the mall with the Leo diamond I noticed that the diamond has a slight blue-grey color. Is it picking up the coloring of my white gold setting? Or is this something else? The Leo diamond was put under a black UV light- it does not floresce. I don't think it matters the quality - I could be wrong. Someone educate.

Not only that, but the Leo diamond is facing up very small for its stated carat weight - at 1.48ct, it should face up apx 7mm, but instead it is only facing up 6.5mm (and you listed 6.5 x 6.2mm, which is either a typo, or the Leo is quite out of round). ... Or on google "Whiteflash review". ... and everything as well as doing jewelry for normal ...

Hey guys thanks for the info. I will go back today and see if they have the full cert. I have a Leo 1ct. g/vs2 IGI cert, but after lurking around here I realized my fiancee got ripped off. 6,900+ for a not so pretty stone. My Leo is so deep that it looks smaller than other 1 ct.
