Pave Ring Retipping | PriceScope Forum

I bought a 14kt 1 ctw pave diamond band from an estate sale at the end of last week. It is set with round brilliants; each one is held by two diagonal prongs. I took it to a jewelry store to compare it to similar rings, and to see if I got a good deal. Based on a review of items on display, I was satisfied that I got a good deal.

2.5ct Tiffany vs 3ct Super Ideal with Tiffany setting ...

Because at some point the extra half carat (or whatever that would translate to in pearls) doesn't matter as much as the cache of saying that it's a brand name. Other people (even non jewelry people) recognize the brand name...and as much as it doesn't mean anything in terms of quality, it means something in terms of *perceived* quality.

De Beers undercuts the man made diamond price | Page 12 ...

Yep, I honestly cannot see them purposely cutting these poorly. Rough waste won't be as much of an issue with MMDs, and automated cutting is becoming so advanced with cheap costs (just look at some of the well-cut CZs and moissanites coming out of China) that I expect that they'll at least have a somewhat decent cut quality.
