    Help Please - Oval Connoisseurs

Of the ones you posted after the AV stone I’d go GOG and neither of the other too. Too mushy.

    Help Please - Oval Connoisseurs

If I was buying an oval it would be an AV stone. You might get lucky and find a super rare cracker of a common oval but it’s unlikely and very time consuming.

OEC pair received but I’m unsure if I should keep them.

Agreed. It may take a really, really long time for the perfect deal to come along that ticks all the boxes for a bargain price (there are no real bargains). Perhaps look at smaller, well cut stones or increase your budget for more options.

OEC pair received but I’m unsure if I should keep them.

I might risk a recut if you had no obligation to buy them if you don’t like them. I don’t mind the colour difference but neither look like well cut stones at all.

OEC hunt begins, how to narrow choices? Need help with guidelines.

So excited for you! It’s truly a stunner. Can’t wait to see more!

Maybe offer more for the single stone, or hell, buy them both!

OEC hunt begins, how to narrow choices? Need help with guidelines.

Tell him that it’s a risk you want to take, and if they disappear with your money you will give up on the diamond hunt ie it won’t cost him double

I would ask for more hand shots from her first just to be sure. Hopefully it’s the one!

My Pawn Shop 1.2ct OEC cut examination

The platinum is the pawn shop one with matching eternity (also the biggest). I ended up returning it due to the deadness under the table (though I still think about it often. I do love it). I bought the LAD stone and it’s still not set. The custom design process is much more difficult than I...

On the hunt for an OEC/OMC/AVC

I would say pick 2 or 3 of your fave stones from ivy and rose and have a comparison video shot, in natural, diffused lighting. Fluorescent/artificial/direct lighting can be unfair on old cuts. It looks nice, but I still like graces stone.

On the hunt for an OEC/OMC/AVC

So true. When buying overseas especially you need to see the stone in a similar environment to which you will be mostly viewing it in day to day life. Super close up shots have great value, but ultimately what your eye will see when it’s on your hand is the most important factor in my opinion...

On the hunt for an OEC/OMC/AVC

The third video on grace’s stone looks pretty good. More videos and hand shots in a ring holder in diffused light would be ideal. But I think it’s a gorgeous make.

I have always like this one. I was seriously considering myself a while back but I ended up going bigger

On the hunt for an OEC/OMC/AVC

I don’t mind the inclusions in the si2, I’d rather a better cut stone than higher clarity.

On the hunt for an OEC/OMC/AVC

Initial impressions, I like the jewels by grace stone by far. However really need to see them in action so if you can get a comparison video from ivy and rose it would be more telling. They do have a good reputation.

Just remember the extra costs associated with importing stuff. GST, customs brokerage, insurance and postage.

    Engagement Ring not perfectly circular?

If you’re not happy with the sizing bar get that fixed, but asking the jeweller to make your ring to a sub retail budget then expecting retail results is unreasonable. It seems like the jeweller really tried to meet your requirements but it wasn’t possible to meet your expectations. I’m no fan...

Oily/hazy/milky diamond - jewel or rock?

It’s probably the cut of the diamond, it doesn’t look milky to me. A bit mushy/splintery but common for pears. It won’t look as sparkly and scintillating as a round. It has strong Fluoro and high colour so in the sun this is what you’re probably seeing.

Show me the center of your OEC!

No petals 1ct J i1 oec. Shallow for an oec, large table, light performance not great. No petals 1.2ct H Si. Small table and shallow, beautiful snowflake but a bit dead under the table. Has petals but somewhere between windmill and flowery 0.5ct m vs. tiny table, tall crown, super...

Advice need on diamond ring please

If you want big, sparkly and blingy without the price tag look at simulants. Unfortunately for $200 you won’t find a quality genuine diamond, especially in a nice gold setting. Edit: sorry I just reread that it was pounds

Advice need on diamond ring please

Depends what you are looking for. It’s extremely included and so I wouldn’t choose to buy it. The mounting is pretty though so I might repurpose it if I won it for next to nothing. What are they asking?

a heart broken experience with Blue Nile, please help

I’d be happy to be getting some new bling! And id keep your original wedding ring to wear or repurpose on a necklace, or if your size goes down again. 2k is 2k but I wouldn’t look at it as a waste of money at all. It’s your wedding ring after all.

    Princess super ideal pics...light leakage?

Super ideal according to whom? Sounds like they made up a marketing line to lure you in- for one, fancy cuts aren’t graded for cut the way rounds are, and two, why does this super ideal have only a VG polish and VG symmetry grade? It’s a pretty stone but I would be wary as they might be trying...
