Has anyone painted a room in coral?

I know that the grey paint has been the rage for a few years now. New construction or houses for sale have varying shades of grey throughout the houses. I have different shades of grey for my dining room and living room and love it. But I have gone wild of late and painted my hallway, foyer and stairwell a bright yellow-green and a den a deep tanzanite blue and ...LOVE it! Now I need to paint the master bedroom. The mirror and artwork are framed in ornate gold, and the furniture is vintage french that has a walnut finish. Curtains and bed linens are white. There are a lot of doors in the room (4) painted white and the ceiling and trim will be white as well. The room is medium in size including a king sized bed. It is currently a very pale blue. I am obsessed with coral- but there are so many shades. Has anyone painted a room or seen a room with this color? Any shades of coral (paint brand and color) you love? Any pics and suggestions would be helpful.

Not coral, but when we bought this house, a bedroom on the top floor was painted blood shot eye red! It took me 7 or 8 coats of paint to cover it up.

I think I read somewhere that red is a good colour for a dining room, stimulates conversation, so not sure it’d be a soothing colour for a bedroom.

Well, it's a powder room so smaller and less exposure than a bedroom... but yes. Salsa Dancing, by BM, if I recall correctly. LOVE it. I get sick of colors pretty quickly and want to repaint everything in 3-5 years. Not this one. Still going strong 4-5 years later and I don't ever see changing it.

May be much darker than you had in mind, but I imagine it might be hard to find a bunch of pictures so I figured it couldn't hurt to post!

So much depends on how much light and which exposure your room gets. I used Benjamin Moore personal color viewer site to figure out how different colors would look in my rooms. I just found a photo on their site that most closely matched my lighting and window layout and then played around with the shades. I believe it's also possible to upload your own pic there and it then "paints" the walls, trim and ceilings.

As far as coral, my old bedroom was painted in lighter orange leaning coral. It was a very cheerful color and it made the room feel warmer.

i love all the mid century colours now im vogue
im.not a fan of grey however i know it can look stylish but so often its just safe and unimaginative
i sold paint for a long long time
it makes me sad and mad regarding the advice buyers are not getting in paint shops to read of the problems people have painting over strong colours
you need a tinted undercoat - usually grey or you can buy a specialist stain blocker
my favourite American product (after Bruce Springsteen) is the Zinzar range of primers/undercoats/stainblockers - i envey American consumers the full Zinzar range, ive been selling the limited range we have access to here for the last 20 years and i have used it myself

my house - good bones - needs decorating
had a hard life as a rental
the last owner painted the whole thing grey and the dark hallway white
zero preparation, just slapped it on
every night i sit here as the light plays off another abomination off non preparation
i have a hole in the hallway that is wallpappered over
we can't fix it all at once but right now im painting the toilet room sage and lemon
we want to make a wet room and knock out a well when funds allow but right now i can't stand going into that room (as you do a few times every day) and look at that shocking paint job.
anyway sorry to ramble
i will be banning all grey from this house (the kitchen is grey) and i would like to paint the house in jewel colours but i have work the other half up to it ....sage in the toilet is a gentle start

Thank you all for your responses! I love the pics and am now validated to do it. The room has two windows and a bunch of canned ceiling lights and a small flush mount crystal light in the middle. So it does get plenty of light. My question now is what hue of coral. Coral can have either orange or pink tones. I was leaning toward the pinkier side(hubby does not care) but my friend (who helped me pick out the chartreuse and tanzanite blue) said to go orangy coral. IDK, orange can be really hard. One year I wanted to paint my crappy all white formica 1970's kitchen (not my idea-came with the house we bought in 1990 and still has not been changed) orange. Bought the paint and freaked out last minute. So painted the inside of the old cabinets to see if I liked it and it was awful and I am still living with it. (Thereafter I painted it a mid-century green yellow called FrogLeap from Benj. Moore. Love it. Goes with the grey in DR, the blue in the nook and the chartreuse in the hall.) I painted a tiny, tiny powder room an 'in your face' magenta and hung a bunch of art on the walls. Loved it and hated to finally let it go. Finally repainted it a school bus or number 2 pencil yellow, rehung the art and it is almost as good. (I love pink.)
Daisys and Diamonds-I feel your pain. I have only bought old houses with crappy-gloppy paint jobs. My dad taught me how to prep, patch, prime and paint. I love to do it. I have stripped woodwork in an entire house-never again- and moved to another house with crap paint jobs. Plus you have to have the right brushes and roller nap for good even coverage which is often overlooked.
Rainydaze, love your bathroom. It does not look dark at all! Plus the white trim, fixtures and beautiful art really makes it spectacular.
So now I am on a quest to find the right coral...

Have you thought about painting an accent wall instead of the whole room? Like painting the wall behind the bed coral and the rest of the wall a warm white? Anyway I found this pretty fun color and maybe you can get a sample to check it out. Color is Benjamin Moore Cinco de Mayo. I painted a guest bedroom approximately this color. I was looking for something with some warmth and earthiness to it. I like pastels. We used Italian pink in the living room. I have used mostly sky blues and lavenders for the ceilings. I would find that darker pink Coral Gables color too energizing for a bedroom personally.

Color feels nourishing to me. Follow your instincts—you might need certain color “vitamins”! (Also garnets and tourmaline, )

years ago my friend and i painted her mum's guest bedroom lemon
her mum calls it the banana room ...
so ive lernt to also get a shade lighter test pot !
the outside of our house has been blue and then yellow in its lifetime
we have desided to go with yellow
id show you my garden shed where we did all the test pots but my lawn is in need of a hair cut
its a very clear very bright lemon yellow with bright emerald window sills
the town we live in has alot of older homes painted more traditional actual colours (not grey ) so we will be bright but not out of place

i brought a new (to NZ) water based paint stripper that was very expensive but is surposed to preform miricles because id love to see what our skirting boards look like as our house is an ex state house (forget the welfair state- it really means no indoor outdoor flow) and they were constructed with native timbers
i also wish i was brave enough to paint some of the archatraves and even the cove a dark colour to match the walls rather than the ceiling white

This! love the accent. its a very deliberate coral and bold! Lovely!

I have... accidentally, the color at that store vs my lighting in my home was horrible experience, and we had vaulted ceiling after about 900 sq ft. I hated it... although granted I was looking for a different color, it turned out more peach/coral and felt dated because my carpet was meh/beige and the wall of my previous home was textured 80's style nothing modern but this again was a lighting issue + not the coral intended look I wanted. Suggest painting 3x3 patch on the wall. I think if we had more natural lighting and different "coral" color perhaps I would have liked it more?

I have contemplated painting my office at home coral. And doing wallpaper on three of 4 walls. I like corals that tend less to pink.

I actual did try to paint my bedroom a coral color, basically a melon color. It was horrible. The one night I tried to sleep in room before I painted it over, the color was so bright even with my eyes closed it burned into my retinas. I think it's a hard color to get right, esp for a bedroom.

Another suggested to paint one wall coral and the other three in a champagne color- all with white trim and ceiling. I am getting close to pulling the trigger. I have two more days of gardening and one room to patch a ceiling from a leak- a two day project. I work full time so weekends are precious time to do chores. So I am rewarding myself with holding off with the bedroom as a treat. I love to paint especially if I love the color! I went to Benjamin Moore and found 4 contenders that I have now taped the chips on the walls and living with them in different light.

I would suggest to get a few samples of the colors you love and put swatches on the wall to see how you like them throughout the day. I find that colors on the wall can be very different from the paint chips.

Definetly agree with @bibiloves . Get samples of your top contenders and slap some on the walls. We just did our bedroom in a medium gold. Thank goodness I bought samples! The one I thought I loved looked like mustard on the wall. The one my DH liked that I thought was too dark turned out to be the winner. It's a soft medium gold tone and the room is now so warm and cozy feeling. PS we repainted over the previous owners choice- 3 beige walls and a brown accent wall. The room looks way better & bigger with all the walls one color!

Painting with color is so hard. Years ago, it took me 6 months looking at 5 different paint mfgs to find the perfect blue for my dining room. Swatches taped all over the walls and paint samples painted under framed art to hide if company came over. I finally found the perfect color. A week or so later, after the paint was done, a neighbor came over and said "Ah, Wedgewood Blue!" It was not of course as it had the perfect blues and greens I was looking for. But it was a life's lesson that all of the fretting and worry-it was a blue dining room.

if you painted sn accent wall first if you really love it then go full hog
if it gets too much paint it over again
im.not sure about paint but accent wallpaper walls are pretty popular here the last year
its your house and more importantly your toilet so who cares what's in fashion so long as you like it
if you ever deside to sell what's another couple of litres of paint anyway if you need to tone it down or you get sick of it
i think as i guest it would be such a fun and stylish surprise to see the coral in your loo
for some reason i keep thinking its your bedroom - but its a toilet room isnt it ?

I love a deep shade of coral like what @rainydaze has but for a bedroom I prefer a relaxing color like blue/gray. Totally one's individual preferences with no right or wrong but for sleeping I choose colors I associate with mellowness and rest.

Coral denotes (IMO) energy and fun vs relaxation and sleep.

i love lime
in the 70s mum's kitchen was lime
and i painted all my other half's bedroom.furniture lime green when i first moved in
it certainly lightened the room up !
even the neighbour's cat ended up with a green ear
that's when i discovered the Zinzar paint

Yes. I painted the room this weekend. Took me forever! Working on the "coral and champagne" theme, I selected two paints from Sherwin Williams. (I'll get the names for you.) I am on the fence. Going from 'nursing home' blue to these warm colors is a big shock. Plus I have never had an accent wall before, The colors are a bit rich for my taste (so far). The champagne turned out more gold and the coral more red. I like it better at night than in the day. All white trim, white curtain sheers and tan drapes. I have a 1950's french bedroom set in a dark wood and a big ornate gold mirror. On the walls are blue/green oil paintings framed in gold and on the floor is a blue, white, tan and red oriental carpet. The ceiling fixture is gold and crystal. So it looks like an old french chateau bedroom-very formal. It works but it is very 1980's to me. I think I should have gone more orangy and beige.....

Will try as I have never done so before. I think I need some patterned curtains to blend it all together. I joke that the color combo looks like McDonald's straws. I think I am not used to warm colors as my other colors in the house are cools and midcentury colors.
