How is that possibly going be enforced and raw materials tracked with the way the majority of the industry is set up?

I like knowing the origin of my colored stones, but I'm afraid this law will be too onerous and drive up the cost of the stones. :(2

This is a comment about gold, not colored stones.

I’ve e-mailed several vendors on the preferred list asking whether they use Fairtrade gold or recycled gold in their creations. Either they said “no” or they didn’t even bother to respond. I’m not going to name names here. But I won’t work with them. I hope others will consider this too and ask the vendors they are considering using.

According to this report, 22 countries use child labor or forced labor in the gold industry —- more than ANY other industry :eek2:
