I am looking for a nice big blue sapphire for my 20th wedding anniversary.

Royal blue color
Oval or Cushion 10 x 8
Heated is ok
Budget is up to $12,000

I contacted Jeff White but seems he gets the stone (the ones meet my criteria) overseas and I will lose a lot of money if I decide to return the stone.

This one on the Leibish website caught my eye, it has a nice spread but it is shallow for a sapphire. It also looks like it has a big window and the symmetry seems off. They did agree to give me the 20% Black Friday sale until the end of this week.

What are your opinions? I appreciate all the help and advise.

Also, what about this one from Gemsny:

I think the one from gemsny is too dark. If you’re going to spend that kind of money, you should get one that won’t look black indoors.

I’m posting this one because it comes in around your price, when you include the 20% discount.
ETA. My mistake. I thought you said around $14k

The Leibish stone has a massive window, so I'd avoid it (unless you aren't opposed to windows). That's why it is so shallow in depth. Could you post a photo of your target color? "Royal blue" to me implies a darker/richer color than many of the ones listed above. Terms like "royal blue" though are quite subjective, so having a photo will help us better know what you're after. $12,000 isn't out of the question, but it is a pretty tall order to find one of that size, well cut (no window), and royal blue for that price. I assume you'd be looking for one around 4-5.5 ct. You could easily be in the $15,000+ range for a top top quality blue of that size.

I searched and bought a blue sapphire loose stone this year. Looked at hundred websites over so many months. Ended up buying online from https://skyjems.ca/ in Canada. Oval 3.3 ct. 10.2 x 8.1 x 4.4. David was super nice and knowledgeable. I did not like the first stone. Returned with no issues. No penalties. I liked their service so much that I bought the second stone, loved it very much and it would be the centre stone for my ring!! Great price! He can also help source stones if requested. I suggest contacting him to chat. For your budget, I reckon he can find you something outstanding!

I also got mine inscribed by GIA. Supper happy!

The first pic was the stone I returned. Very lovely and excellent cut but too light for my liking. The second pic is the one I keep ;-)
