Third time’s the charm - DSS no more!

Hi All...

Several here may recognize I’ve suffered from recurring bouts of DSS over time. I started with a .91ct cushion which I had in a blingy halo, then moved to a 1.22ct cushion in an even blingier halo. From there I switched to a 1.71ct round solitaire. That didn’t last too long and I moved over to a 2.31ct round. I loved that stone - still do, but DSS can be an unruly temptress.

I found a 2.88ct I/VS2 on JA that called me like a siren. The only issue was, it was well outside of the recommended PS proportions. I figured it couldn’t hurt to request an idealscope image, but didn’t have high expectations that it would be remotely decent. To my surprise, it didn’t look horrible at all. After all the encouraging input from PSers here, I decided to go for it. I’m soooo happy I did - I love her so much! DSS is now a thing of the past. I’ve had my new ring now for a couple weeks and finally had a chance to gather some pics to share.

Thanks so much! My old stone looked great with the thinner bands, but felt really out of proportion with and dwarfed by the eternity band. This one just seems fit perfectly with all of them.

It still feels really big! I have moments where I feel self-conscious, but then the larger facets and that uber tall crown catches my eye, and it quickly passes. Thank you for your compliments, I adore everything about her!

Appreciate your kind words - I wasn’t expecting the stone to be as strong of a performer as it is, but it’s clearly the best of the three I’ve owned. It was definitely a lucky find, especially since it appeared to be sold for a while on JA.

Thanks! Next to the 6-prong knife edge, I think this setting is the best of their solitaires. I enjoy how low-set the diamond is and those claw prongs...!

Looks like there was a really modest mark-up, so it’s still a really good value for the size, color and clarity. If anyone is looking for a nice stone, I can also assure it’s a great performer...

What’s JA advantage pricing?

It’s a discount they will apply on the diamond and available to anyone who requests it. There are a few threads on PS about it, iirc. I’ve found it ranges from 3-4% off depending on the stone. One thing to keep in mind is they only allow one discount or promo. So in some cases, a setting promo may yield better savings.

Thanks so much! I’m having such fun experimenting with various bands and stacking combinations. This ring seems to allow me more latitude to stack away and still look proportionate.

It was a “Cali Breakfast Burrito.” Asada, queso fresco, guacamole and pico... it was supposed to be topped with a sunny side up egg, but dear hubs is not a fan, so he opted to have the eggs scrambled. It was also *HUGE*! I don’t think he was able to make much of a dent in it at all.

I am so jealous! It is the perfect size, huge, yet is just under the 3ct mark, for great savings. I LOVE the dark arrows. I hope to find a beauty like that someday! Congrats!
