LOL. I was really on the fence. I can't see the WF videos today. I was worried about that crystal under the table. But, I don't really think you can go wrong with either (and WF's trade-in/trade-up is stupendous).

Very true... ;-)
...and I just realized the OP's intended wanted the closest look to Tiffany. I do like the JA setting, but when I was trying to decide which Tiff Repro I wanted, I reached out to JA for pricing. They wouldn't make the setting for me because it would be "custom" and I didn't buy my diamond from them. I'm guessing it was due to the large size difference compared to how they usually make that setting?? I went with Caysie and never looked back anyway, but I thought that was odd...

From JA, #1 with no questions is my favorite. Small table, angles very complimentary, beautiful IS. 5.94 mm. For the setting, I would ask them to soften the knife edge so it is more similar to Tiffany.

From WF, I like the 0.826 H VS1, https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3947668.htm. 6.02 mm.

I would not choose the WF setting. I would order the JA setting to match the right size (in mm) and have it sent to WF to set their diamond. But, its an extra step.

OMG!! That is NOT the setting I thought it was!! I thought it was this one:

NOOOOOOO, OP do NOT get the stock 6 prong setting you listed. Get the JA one -- much nicer!!!

Sorry, @rockysalamander!!! Geez, no wonder you didn't like that setting!! LOL

No worries @msop04! I figure to each their own. I was a bit surprised as your rings are exquisite. Look forward to hearing what OP ends up choosing.

OP...here are a few affordable settings that WF should be able to order for you. Might bridge the budget gap to carve a few hundred off the total price to get under $5k.

Nooo, get the diamond and setting from the same place. You’ll be adding on a setting charge if you don’t.

Get this setting. Several PS members have had it.

Its a great setting, but OP budget is $5k. WF only charges $100 for an outside setting.

With WF, if the OP wants the $1300 setting, then I'd suggest this diamond.{total $5100)
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3929367.htm

If the OP can get one of the settings I found from Stuller or Roseco at a good price, than this diamond looks good.
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3880143.htm, $4290

I love the price of this one posted by @diamondseeker2006, but that central crystal would be a problem for me.

I just hate to see him get a setting that isn’t high quality, and the WF one is one of the better Tiffany repro settings and a far better price than the Vatche. I just think if he has it in mind to get a Tiffany wedding band, it’s a good idea to get this setting. If the stone I posted is too high, then the .81 expert selection stone would be fine. That little crystal in the SCA in normal viewing would be way too minuscule to see, though. The little photos below the main picture are still much larger than the the actual stone, and you can’t see it in that at all. I’d personally rather have the ACA IF he could spend the extra $200. However, all the stones posted are likely better than what he would have gotten at Tiffany, so all is well with any of them!

I hear you.

One other option for the OP that is I color and was posted by @HappyNewLife . Since the first stone the OP posted was an I and this is super-ideal, which should better mask color from the top, I think this might be a great option to maximize size if getting the better WF setting you posted is desired.

Sorry if we've given you too much input OP :mrgreen2:

When shopping around for a "Tiffany" and the magic blue box, one of the things people say is "that's branded". And it is.

But don't devalue Whiteflash. Many here consider WF superior to Tiffany for their value and quality of their diamonds. That said, Tiffany diamonds are already of a very high quality. As long as your fiancé is sufficiently interested and educated re: diamond quality and vendors, she should be ecstatic to receive a whiteflash ring.

Whiteflash IS a branded diamond. They have a brick and mortar showroom. They charge a price premium for their "A cut above" branding compared to a diamond with similar clarity/colour/carat (but not necessarily cut or eye cleanliness or flouro). They have the customer service that higher tier jewellers are known for. They have a nice black cardboard box and cherry red box!

I would quite happily place Whiteflash, Brian Gavin / CBI diamonds etc... on a tier above Blue Nile or James Allen.

We like our little black boxes so much from WF ... there's another one in production...

With WF, you can always ask the rep their honest opinion. And I'm yet to have any buyers remorse that I could have done better (other than wait for a better inclusion plot which is splitting hairs when it comes to an eye-clean VS2).

All the best to the OP - I'd happily take the WF stones and work with them regarding your setting. But that's my opinion.

OP
I like the setting that DS2006 picked out for you. Please note that the ring part is called "knife edge", you have to like to that. I know it is in the description but just wanted to point that out. Also agree with DS to get the stone and setting from one place, like WF.

Quick question, would it be better to get the vatche or the WF version for $500 more. I can afford the difference but want to make sure it’s “worth it”. In your opinion with a stone that is .8x ct which of those settings is better at that size? WF version or Vatche?

Today is the last day for me to order the vatche to get it in time.

They are both lovely and quite similar. No wrong decision here, but personally I would give Vatche the edge. That's not to say it's "worth" the extra money, just my preference.

I would go with the Vatche as well, although they're really so close in photos. If you really want the Tiffany look, most people agree that the Vatche is the closest thing on the market (Basically identical. Like I said, the Tiffany employees probably wouldn't even be able to tell).

When comparing a WF diamond + Vatche setting with a Tiffany diamond and setting that costs thousands more, you're basically paying thousands for a little blue box. :D
