Hello all... long time lurker, first time poster.
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 1.5ct round stone to be set in a cushion style Halo setting. I'm on a pretty tight budget of around 10k w/ setting (can push a bit higher if necessary but not much).
I currently have James Allen getting me a custom quote on just a setting they offer made in platinum (only currently available in white/yellow gold). I tried to do as much research as I could to get the best value and came up with the following stone...
1.5ct excellent cut, h color, strong fluorescence (not a preference but not a hinderance in my book), SI1, polish and symmetry are VG not excellent but I don't think thats a major issue from what I can see. (Hopefully) future wife and I are not flashy or gurus so we probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyhow. HCA score was .9 so thats a plus.
Price is $8,800. I didn't see anything else eye clean for less that I was happy with for a better value. H is fine for our taste... I originally was considering J but heard that H is a good sweet spot for value.

Also want to add that if anyone has a BETTER option from JA at around the 1.5ct range (apparently the max for the setting), I'd welcome those opinions as well.
