Makes sense! The Tiffany 6 prong style is so elegant. If you love the Osprey, you should totally get it! I do think the stones are set high and since the prongs of the engagement ring are angled outwards, it may rub (and eat into) the prongs more... Have you considered the HC Ellinor band? I think it would look lovely!

I don't like the Ellinor as much because it doesn't have open sides, it's all metal on the sides, and unfortunately they don't have it for home try-on so I can't see it in person before committing to it.

How long would it take for the diamonds to eat into the prongs enough that it would cause problems? I will be wearing them together 24/7, would it be like a year or 20 years or 50 years? And would it be something I could just take to any jeweler to have that prong replaced or would I need the whole head remade? Another option would be soldering them together but I would prefer not to.

@DoeEyes I reluctantly bought a Blue Nile knife edge band to put between my shared prong eternity and my newly reset engagement ring...I’m surprised it really doesn’t bother me too much anymore...You can barely see it..The other thing you could do is to get a thin channel set diamond band to wear in between your engagement ring and your wedding band. I don’t know if you like a three band look. You could also just live dangerously and wear the diamond wedding band with your engagement ring...and let it get scratched. No one would notice it...You could flip it around occasionally to get even wear. I wore mine like that for years before I came on Pricescope..and never even noticed it getting scratched. I think it would take a long time for it to totally eat through the prongs. The way to avoid it altogether is to get a channel set wedding band of the same material...

I actually wouldn't mind a super thin pave band, I really don't like channel set but maybe if it was sandwiched in between two other rings I wouldn't mind it. A thin plain rose gold band would also be fine, or like you said just live dangerously and let it get scratched! I just don't want to be replacing it in the next 10 years so as long as it wouldn't be totally destroyed that soon I might just do it.

If you like the Ospery band, that's what counts.

Personally, I think it overpowers the engagement ring. I think that will be the case even with the new stone. I would go with a band that's less blingy, especially with your finger size. But, you are the one that has to like it!

This is coming from someone that doesn't stack anything though. I can't stand the feel of more than one ring on a finger.

I hear you, and if I could get a 1ct+ and pair it with this same wedding band I would. I'm just not willing to pay more than a grand for the stone so this is where I ended up. I took some more pics. This is the .75 try on ring with the Ospery wedding ring. I don't think it overpowers it, it is very blingy but that's what I'm going for. Blingy enough to catch your eye, but proportional when you look closely. I think it works, I just wouldn't go any bigger on the wedding ring.

Hypothetically since the LB is supposed to be .87-.88 it should be a bit bigger than this, but it definitely looks like it's the same size as the .75 and the 1 carat looks bigger. Can't tell if it's because the try-on rings are just CZ so not exact sizes, or because it's hard to compare a loose stone to a stone in a 6 prong setting, or if the LB is actually smaller than it's supposed to be. The only way to check would be removing it and weighing it and then I can't return.

You could measure the width of the new stone with calipers if you want to try to compare without removing it from its setting.

Yes! This! Digital calipers are cheap. That would tell you for sure.

I'll get some calipers and report back!

Here's a comparison vs each of the try on rings and vs my current ring. Definitely a good upgrade either way and I really like how the try-on (that's the same size as the new LB) looks with the Ospery so I should be happy.

The new stone looks great, can't wait to see the new ring! I can actually see the subtle size difference - it is bigger than the 0.75ct CZ and smaller than the 1ct CZ. The reason it looks similar is because the way the weight is distributed through out a round stone. As the carat size increases, you don't see significant differences until you increase by 0.25ct-0.5ct. The 6 prong setting can also create an optical illusion of a larger stone, you have to look closely at the circumference of the stone itself!

A pave band would also scratch like a saw because of the little diamonds. It would have to be a plain knife edge, bezel band or channel set..I’ll attach a bezel marquise and dot band I use as a spacer later when I get home...

Good to hear that you can see it! I still can't. Maybe if I open it on a computer and put lines across it. It's just surprising how big of a difference I see between .87 and 1, which should be the same difference between .75 and .87. Also very possible that the "1ct" CZ is actually bigger than 1ct since it's just to give an idea of that size. I ordered calipers that should be here Tuesday so I'll measure all 3 and see.

No option from this vendor between the two but I'm not opposed to finding a new vendor altogether.

Great idea. I'm actually feeling way better about it now that I hid the blue. And comparing it to the CZ in the try-on rings, it looks exactly the same as that which I think is good. I think my original LB is just very warm making the new one look blue in comparison. So interesting that the two LB stones are so different.

Here's a video of the new LB against my hand and white...

Against just white...

And next to my old LB...

And here's a bunch of pics

I was actually wondering yesterday if the blue diamond makes the bigger one look blue. It seemed unlikely but maybe not. When you cover it it looks a very nice white color. I think you should keep it.

Did you contact LB already because of the color?

Regarding your wedding band I like the shared prong Ospery band better. I don't like too much metal showing either. I have several type bands and combine them all together in every which way, most of the time without the solitaire. :). My channel set band is by far the most sturdy and it makes me feel very secure wearing it and it does not rub off the diamonds. But it is just not as blingy.

I agree! I am planning to keep it unless by some miracle they release a full carat, then I might return this and get the carat. And yes I agree, it looks beautiful and white now that I covered the blue. I did already email them about the blue, but no response yet. If anything I'd at least like them to take back the old half carat one one because I was planning on eventually getting a matching half carat to make earrings but now I can't if their diamonds are such a different color, I'll have to go source it somewhere else which is annoying.

You could try giving your engagement ring a good cleaning! This morning I soaked my rings in a cup of warm/hot water mixed with Dawn dish detergent for an hour or so, to loosen up dirt and grime. Then with the sink drain closed shut, I used a clean toothbrush to clean the diamonds. Made a huuuuuge difference in color and clarity!

If they won't take back the 0.5ct stone, maybe you could ask to exchange it for the 1tcw earrings and pay the difference? Or just keep the ring for sentimental value!

Also for reference, after about a year (possibly sooner), my engagement ring prongs showed where the wedding band was rubbing on both sides (eating into the prongs). It hasn't compromised the integrity of the prongs yet from what I can tell.

LB told me to send been the necklace so they can inspect it and that they're out of stock so they can't send me a replacement. Not doing that unless I decide to get a bigger stone elsewhere. Might just wait until the end of the return period and if no bigger stone appears, then I'll keep it.

That sounds like a good idea @DoeEyes..I would be worried they won’t make the 7/8 carat in white anymore either. There are strange styles coming up on their site..I’m beginning to think anything that comes close to a one carat round in white may be phased out.

I bought this same pendant for my E.R. The white diamond that I received was 6mm. Between 3/4 & 1 carat, but it’s going to look bigger in the 6 prong setting. I’m a size 9 for reference.

Thanks! I had it set in a 6 prong tulip peg head by a local jeweler. She modified a ring that I already owned, and swapped out the other stone for the diamond. I still wear the pendant, it now has a 6mm moissanite in it.

I thought that the blue diamond in the pendant looked more grayish blue than the baby blue that they show online. It’s still pretty.

Your ring looks gorgeous!! And you are right about the 6 prongs making it look a little bigger!

I just got calipers today and measured everything. My new LB that's supposed to be 7/8 (.875), but can vary from about .825-.925, measured in at 5.93mm which is slightly less than .84ct (6mm). Disappointing, looks like I got one at the lower end of the carat range they promise.

IMG_20191219_142148.jpg

However, I also measured my existing .5 that I know is exactly .5 because they weighed it while it was out of the setting, and it measured in at 4.94 which is slightly smaller than the standard .5ct (5mm). So either the calipers aren't perfect, or it's a slightly deep diamond? I'm guessing?

IMG_20191219_142233.jpg

And here are the two Hayden Cudworth try-on rings. The 1ct measured in at 6.44mm (slightly smaller than the standard 6.5mm) and the .75ct measured in at 5.7mm (slightly smaller than the standard 5.75mm).

IMG_20191219_142308.jpg IMG_20191219_142215.jpg

I'm inclined to think it's the calipers that are slightly off since EVERYTHING measured in slightly smaller than standard.

At this point I'm about ready to order my new setting and I'm leaning towards just going ahead and keeping the LB no matter what exact weight or mm it is. Visually it's a great size on my finger and next to the Ospery wedding ring I'm planning to get. (And it will actually look slightly bigger from above when set, since it will sit higher than it is here laying flat).

IMG_20191219_143928.jpg

I'm thinking I can go ahead and order the setting and wedding ring and stop obsessing over millimeters. Thoughts?

I'd be inclined to believe the calipers.

The .84 diamond looks great on your small finger. Getting a diamond, this size for under a thousand dollars is pretty amazing and seems to be what you want. From the look of your picture, this diamond teamed with that wedding band, fitted to your size, would be a lovely look.

Even though the 0.5ct measured 4.94 but is confirmed to be exactly 0.5ct by weight? Does that mean it's a deep cut?

Yes, cut deep. I wonder whether you could get hold of, or see a really well cut diamond and see whether you would notice the difference and determine whether that would matter to you.

Lol love it. You could spend double and get a larger lab diamond with a better cut. Would it give you double the enjoyment, well that's the big existentialist question.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cut and diameter, your new diamond is beautiful, a sizable upgrade, and a great value. Sometimes it's best to enjoy and be happy with what you have! There will always be a better diamond unless you get an ideal H&A, D color, flawless, no florescence one!

Regardless of what the calipers say, I think it is beautifully proportioned to your tiny finger, and looks fabulous next to the diamond wedder.
