Longtime lurker and my first post. I just want to say hello you all and thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and information with all of us.

I would appreciate any comments on the cut of this stone I've picked. ASET and GIA are attached.

The best explanation I can give is that the methods used to determine cut quality for a round diamond, will not work on a Radiant. So people have far more difficulty advising

I would not have picked that one based on the video at JA alone. The ASET also tells that this not bright. The ASET would be terrific for a diamond bead - whch I have allot of respect for [& will refrain to rant about here]

I do not have instructions in terms of numbers, but can try to pick one I like & fits your budget & tell why I like it.

@Rockdiamond One day I might ask you how radiants can be made to NOT show twice as much colour as there is in the rough!

ctd.

Several near square catch my attention, but only one rectangular stone over 2 cts and less than 25K www

The squares are: #_598 #_465 #_634 #_291 I have left a couple off this list & have not looked anywhere else yet.

The search was for
> 2cts
< 25K
D-H
IF-SI2

it's a very intersting question- and totally affects how we interpret ASET ......sounds like fertile ground for a thread, if you wanted to start one:whistle:

@alikara, welcome to PS.

I kind of like the look of your 2.20 CARAT G-VS2 from the video. The facet pattern and ratio remind me of mine. You can see mine and the details on post #103 below. My L/W ratio is 1.37.

Mine is The Original Radiant Cut.

Are you ordering it to see it in person? Agreeing with David that you have to see fancy cut in person.

Thank you all for your help. Its really so kind of you guys to take time out of your day to help me find the perfect stone. It is sincerely appreciated! Going to pick something else as suggested.

Its really tough picking a Radiant cut. @AV_ thanks a lot for sending me some options but I do prefer the rectangular shape.

I was hoping to get a ~2.2 radiant for the budget so if its going to be at the 2.0 carat mark my thinking is to lean towards an Oval which is roughly the same price but may appear larger?

I've also found picking an Oval to be tough because a lot of them have obvious bowties. I came across this which I think may be suitable based on what I've read on other threads. What do you guys think? Preferred ratio would be 1.36 - 1.47 and color G+ with no FL

Too bad that you're giving up on radiant already...:(sad

Haha. I'm, ordering it with but returning it is expensive in shipping etc. so I really have to be sure.

The 2.01 F VVS2 is a beautiful stone but its just stretching the already stretched budget a bit too far. I don't really need a VVS stone.

I love the Radiant you posted very similar to the one I was looking at but too bad it seems mine wasn't a great pick.

I like this one over your pick, the F just appears to have a little mush that I don’t like

Ooohh... I thought your stone was quite nice but then I looked at the F/VVS2 and yeah... if money wasn't an object, I'd buy her lol

To me, radiants are so different to ovals so what sort of setting were you aiming for? I think ovals are a little more versatile in terms of style, but a radiant does have a classic appeal... They are very hard to choose though.

An oval I could not not mention www

There are many around 10.5 mm long & 1.5 L/W.

Let me see below 20K ...

Possibly a bargain of sorts 16K D SI1 10.2 X 6.9 mm www

another D/SI1 of the same weight is less 15K - perhps an even better SI1 (I expect both to be 'eye clean') and looks beautifully brilliant www if smaller 9.2 X 7.2 mm; Blue Nile seems to discount for small-ish spread, so there are such options; the 10K pricedifference between this and the first choice is interesting.

Looking further

E SI1 12 mm long over 20K but the largest stone mentioned so far: WWW

Thanks for the option but probably need to stick to an oval. What'd you think of the one I posted up at post #13?

Hi Alikara,
Speaking after many years of this discussion being repeated ad infinitum........
Without a doubt, the folks assisting have only the best intentions.
Still, from my perspective, its a shame that people coming here for advice feel it's not possible to purchase what they actually desire because other members can't advise them in the way they can for other shapes.
Remember, that at the end of the day, it's only YOUR taste that counts....

Re. #13 The video looks much better than the ASET implies. I would want to see if the girdle inscription reflecting off the pavilion is distracting in real life [on the NW quarter of the pavilion in the video]. Anything on the girdle will reflect, including parts of setting. I cannot guess if this is a substantial concern. The stone seems worth seeing.

No doubt there is a wealth of knowledge here and that members here genuinely advise the best they can. Thats what makes this such a great community and I'm thankful to have found

Thanks for taking a look and pointing that out. I do see that now. I don't think its a huge concern personally but worth noting. Leaning to getting that stone in as the comments here have been largely positive.

I think since you can’t return, you should deal with someone who can send you photos and video and can talk with you and tell you what they see.
