Weird but true facts about yourself

One weird but true fact about myself is I enjoying doing laundry. OK I know this is a strange topic lol but I admit it. I enjoy doing laundry. Not folding it though. I draw the line at folding it haha. There is something quite satisfying about getting clean and fresh clothes, towels and linens. And when the washing machine and dryer are conveniently located it is blissful (for me) doing laundry. Weird but true.

I also sort of enjoy mopping with the wide microfiber mop we have. It just cleans so easily and glides over a large area at a time making it satisfying for me. LOL I know it sounds weird.

Any household chores that bring you quiet bliss?
Any hobbies that might be considered strange to some?

Any weird but true facts about yourself you are willing to share?

I have 2 different eyes, in that one is long-sighted while the other one is short.
I wear glasses so that I do not strain one or the other, and cannot wear contact lenses without glasses.

I also like doing laundry! But I am totally OCD about cleanliness. I especially love its scent. Everyone thinks I am crazy about cleaning jewelry and diamonds, except I am in good company here.:))) Unfortunately I can also just take out my loupe in the middle of the street or while travelling if I feel I may have bumped or banged a ring to make sure it is
ok. I think that is a bit too much even for PS standards (going into hiding).

I cannot stand people touching my jewelry especially because they all immediately seem to go wanting to pet the stones. What is it with people? Diamonds are not pets. Even professionals like goldsmiths like to give stones a good rub over with their hands, yikes! And I cannot wait to get home thereafter to clean them. I also think metal attracts energy and I prefer the energy on my pieces is mine alone.

I had an incident after which I now lock my ring presentation box so when people go oh wow they touch the glass only and I can take out what they want to see later. A professional dropped my over 20 K emerald ring badly face down and I about died. Since then no touching just like that allowed!

Am I really weird?:)))

When I was 14 or 15 years old, I was the fastest typist in the state of Colorado, and probably also among the fastest in the USA. (Typed about 170 WPM)

Now I'm still faster than most anyone I meet (in the 135-145 range) but I can't type as fast as I used to be able to. It definitely serves me well when typing papers for school, but beyond that it's my one coolest but ultimately useless fact about myself that I enjoy sharing. :D

I'm a pop-a-holic... always have been.

I love to pop anything on the skin. I also love to watch videos of others doing it. Gross, I know. I am currently obsessed with an aesthetician named Enilsa Brown. She has videos on YT and IG.

Ummm... that is all. :shifty:

The water heater is way out in the detached garage.
Getting hot water to the house takes minutes and would waste 2.5 gallons.
So, I save that water in a bucket for flushing the toilet.

I can't stand when the house needs vacuuming, but don't mind that both grand pianos are perpetually covered with crap.

I can only floss in the shower and ONLY with a flosser because I hate the feeling of floss wrapped around my fingers.

Can't touch styrofoam, can't stand the feel or the sound of it.

I can literally eat soup in the summer when it's 100 degrees, makes DH sick but I love it that much.

I love doing laundry too, but I'm opposite of you in the fact that I especially love the folding part! I usually have my husband load the washer and dryer and once dry, have him dump piles and piles of laundry on our cal king bed, after which I begin to fold neat little piles for each member of the family.

I have ‘uniforms’ in my wardrobe: all dark and dramatic silk/wool Eileen fisher for work, and for home, the opposite look, antique and light, with the same three pieces in various incarnations (faded super soft denim, white Victorian bodice, and pastel Cotton pointelle cardigan). I never wear makeup at home, only for work.

I have a few tufts of fur saved from my long lost beloved true love cat, and have a locket where I tuck some away and wear. I will never ever ever get over losing her. I cry all the time for her, and at night I have to use white noise to drift to sleep so that I can drown out my brain’s incessant longing for her.

I used to be a practicing Quaker. I have fallen from deep belief into pure action, meaning that instead of talking about how I’m here to serve, I just do it, whether I am a believer or not. I hope that counts.

I have a broken molar with a sharp edge which doesn’t hurt but starts to bother my tongue when I’m talking too much. Rather than fix it, I use it to remind me to stop talking and start listening.

I have zero self confidence and the daily act of showing up is the bravest thing I do.

I can’t touch cotton balls. Eek. The squeak it makes when squeezed gives me chills.

I gave birth to my kids on the same day two years apart. I’m crazy organized like that. And they were both natural births not c-sections.

Haha I wish I loved folding laundry. The reason I don't is because I am just not good at it. I am a terrible folder. If I was better at it I bet I would enjoy that part too.

Yes it does 100%. Actions are so much more important than words and you are walking the walk not just talking the talk. Kudos to you. If more people were like you this world would be a better place.

I don't like the feel of styrofoam either and I can also eat hot soup during the summer. I love soup all year long. Ice cream too for that matter.

I love organized people and try to be one myself but I don't always succeed. But I always plan things as much in advance as I can though of course many things cannot be planned.

I cannot stand the feel of suede or corduroy and am not crazy about cotton balls either lol.

Very impressive. And I am jealous. I am probably the slowest typist ever.

I love cleaning my jewellery, I find it a Zen activity.
i also love watering the garden but here in Sydney Australia we now have level 2 water restrictions so I can only water using a watering can. That isn’t as enjoyable.
I have a photographic memory or moreso I am very visually observant. I can speed read in a weird way. Not like scanning for main words as a learned technique but reading every word BUT I process at a lower speed. So when I find a typo it’s like 2 pages back. And those picture puzzles where you have to find the 6 differences or find the dog hidden amongst the reindeer, I can do in seconds.

I fold flat sheets but just bunch up the fitted ones and cram 'em in the cupboard.
I love to iron shirts but not pants.
I have around 50 pair of identical white socks.
I've mentioned before, I don't use my home machines; I prefer doing 20-25 loads at the laundromat once every 6 weeks or so in their huge machines.

I can't touch a microfiber cloth. It catches on my rough skin, and makes me cringe.
I won't use hand lotion.
Loation makes me feel greasy, contaminates my aquariums, coats my diamond, and makes guitar strings go dead early.

I'm a psycho with money, a miser with nearly everything but then I'll buy something crazy expensive.
I don't want a dishwasher, preferring to wash dishes by hand.
I don't want a garbage disposal. I use a drain strainer and the trash can.

Food I buy zero prepared food; I cook from scratch, super healthy but not organic.
I cook huge quantities, split it up into a zillion servings, ziplock and freeze it.

I'm mostly a one-person person.
I prefer having very few friends, being happy to spend all my time with my SO.
He's exactly the same way.

I think I'm happiest when my parrot is cuddling and falls asleep on my belly.

I always match my extensive colorful sock collection to my outfit, even if the socks are covered by boots. I do this because Asian people take off shoes when entering someone's house, and I don't want to ever be caught with socks that clash with the rest of my outfit, even in my own house.

My husband calls me an exercise bulimic. I eat a ton of food, then I go work it off for 3 hours straight in a gym at times. I do this especially around the holidays.

I'm a foodie and not afraid to try anything, my dream job would be a TV personality like Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern, and eat my way across the world. Good food or weird food....bring it on!

I keep my house clean but LOVE getting messy! Paint, mud, sand, slime, I'm down!

I LOVE shopping and gifting for other people but I generally feel weird about accepting gifts.

I will never volunteer to be "in charge" but I'll do it if needed.

I work best under pressure.

Cleaning out and restoring a house (myself) is a dream of mine.

I’m a super picky eater. I hate vegetables. I hate fish. I could live on PBJ and cereal. It’s kind of embarrassing at my age if I go to a dinner party. Once I went to a BBQ and they made salmon and asparagus. I thought I would die. I gave the dog the salmon under the table and tossed the asparagus in the grass when no one was looking.

I loathe laundry and have mountains of it weekly. But I LOVE to polish silver! In fact, I asked my housekeeper to not polish my silver so I can do it. Lol, it is one chore that so gratifying. Dingy to bright and shiny with just a bit of elbow grease.

... another reason I avoid social events, especially T-Day and C-Day, especially with any family.

I despise social expectations that pressure you to eat anything that a host puts in front of you. :angryfire:
It's disrespectful of diversity.

This is my mouth, not yours.
This is my body, not yours.

Everybody does not want to eat everything.
It doesn't matter if it was your grannie's secret recipe, or monkey brains are a delicacy in your country.

"Oh, David's a good eater." ... more BS.

I am the least ‘picky’ eater in my family, but I will not eat anything called a ‘casserole’; I think it is just such an unappetizing word ... call it a ‘dish’, ‘accompaniment’, ‘mish-mash’, ‘compilation’, ‘concoction’ ... anything but ‘casserole’. Perhaps because it has the word ‘ass’ in it, and ‘ass’ has no place on my dinner plate.

My favorite food on earth is pizza - anytime, from anywhere, any day of the week, with any toppings. But if one day — heaven forbid — ‘pizza’ were to be relabeled ‘casserole’, I’d likely never touch it again.

Ironically, I learned a couple years ago, my dad will also not eat anything called a ‘casserole’ for the same reasons.

Yes! I love the (very rare) chance to prepare meals for gatherings. I appreciate different tastes and dietary needs so see it as a challenge to offer an assortment so that none of my guests feels any need to eat anything other than what they enjoy.

@Bron357 I have the same thing, i.e. Photo memory. I read books at lightning speed. It came in handy at exams. I am not sure where and how my brain processes the info but you are absolutely right about it taking longer.

This is why when it comes to important decisions I like to take my time. Because I am just as observant at professional meetings, etc. but I often need to recall the memories to connect the dots. I do get immediate gut feeling but I like to just watch, listen and think it over later. Because I am too fast and can be wrong.

I am the same way with find the differences games but my brain gets tired very fast. I have ADD too so I have to distract myself with something very often.

Another weird fact about myself is I schedule my phone calls generally. Sure sometimes I have impromptu phone calls but more often than not my friends and I schedule them because it works best for both parties.

I have ADD too so I have to distract myself with something very often.

I have not officially been diagnosed with ADD but I think I have a form of that as I always need to be doing something and for example cannot just relax and watch tv but need to be online too. I need to have my mind occupied fully all the time. It can get exhausting.

My dh said one weird fact about himself is that he doesn't like mustard on hot dogs but only ketchup. I am not sure that constitutes weird. Does it? Don't lots of people enjoy ketchup on hotdogs?

I agree with this. It always feels like I am putting people (ie family) out when they invite us over as I cannot eat lots of food that most people eat. I guess that makes me weird too. But it is very hard for me feeling like this and it makes me reluctant to visit others for meals. I don't like the feeling I am an inconvenience and of course family isn't shy about saying so.:knockout: My friends never make me feel like that. Yet if I turn down an invite from family because I don't want to put them out they get all pissy. There is no winning.

Haha OK maybe this is me too. I love exercise and I love eating and I exercise a lot. But I enjoy it so I don't look at it as an unhealthy vice but when you put it that way it makes me think. OK just asked my dh and he doesn't think this is me but I am not so sure.
