Show me your 2.25 round brilliant settings!!

I am inheriting my moms 2.25 round stone which I would like to reset (it is in yellow gold and has channel set side stones which i am not a fan of). I’m looking for ideas. Currently, I have a radiant in a halo, so I’m leaning towards a solitaire with the round. I was initially thinking cushion halo like Verragio’s Dantela. I’m back and forth hence the request for visuals!

I’ll include a picture of the upgrade in its current setting as well as the my current set (I’ll be using my current wedding band with the RB reset).

Me too, so I totally get that. I think it really depends on what you like, and what looks best on your hand.

I think doing something different with your mom's ring makes sense. Just make sure you like the style on your finger. Looking at pictures is great, but I would suggest trying on different styles in the same carat weight to get a feel. I also found it very helpful to look using a mirror. It somehow gave me a different perspective from just looking down at my hand. I went in for a solitaire and just didn't like the look on me, so I blinged it up.

Since you already have a more embellished ring, and not a round, I would suggest a basic solitaire... in a 6-prong. The 6 prong really emphasizes the round shape. Then you have the best of both worlds between your 2 rings. Also, having something a bit more “simple”/understated would be nice in situations where a less fancy ring may be more appropriate. I’ve had many settings over the years... different combos of 3-stones, halos, small side stones, etc. After all that, I’m now in a very basic solitaire and love it. I wanted to feature my diamond. There are many beautiful solitaire mountings if you want to go with a solitaire look yet want the mounting to be a bit more “special”. To give you my meaning of emphasizing the roundness with 6 prongs:

Your ring is beautiful! I do love a solitaire and secretly have been thinking about returning my radiant to a solitaire (original setting was split prong micropave).
I have also been tossing around the idea of a solitaire with the princess cut side stones on the band of the reset. So many options! I need to get to some stores to look and try on!
