Introvert. I can be social when I need to be, although it's very mentally draining.

I’m an introvert... you can tell bc I enjoy making friends online, where I can shut them off when I’m not interested in socializing :D

Most of my irl friends are introverts too. I’m married to an extrovert though.

I’m not an INFJ but close... INTJ.

I am an extroverted introvert just like @Mamabean :sun:
(aka Ambivert).

I can be social but find it draining if for long periods of time. In short doses I even enjoy being social. But mainly with just one on one or just a few others at once. Big crowds overwhelm me generally.

That’s me!

My dh OTOH loves people and being social and everyone he meets loves him and him them. It's hard for him being married to me as I don't enjoy parties except for very short periods of time and I always loathe to go so it is a challenge to get me in the mood for a party. Greg is always up for a party and I am the opposite and these past number of months in social isolation is really wearing on him the most. :/

Is your DH an introvert or an extrovert or more like you in being a bit of both?

Introvert who can fake extroversion when it's called for :geek2:. It takes a TON of mental energy though, so I try to keep those situations infrequent.

This is me too. When I am feeling shy or introverted and I have to be social I just fake it. And yes it takes huge amount of energy to do so. It drains me completely but I have it down pretty good and no one can tell. :shhh:

I do it for the other person's/people's comfort level because no one likes to be around someone who is shy and quiet in a social situation. It's much easier for everyone if we pull our so called weight and are social too. But it can be completely exhausting.

Definitely an introvert. INFJ here.
I loathe parties (excellent word usage @missy ) but I am very comfortable with “my people” (aka: my very close friends and family). Even then, I have a period of me time as soon as I get home. I don’t want to talk...I just need some time to play online and decompress. :shifty:

My DH is an extrovert all the way. He’s the life of the party and people love him so freaking easily. Talk about opposites attract.

I think he’s an introvert that fakes extroversion for work..and some friends he sees infrequently...

What does INFJ mean? I fail at abbreviations terribly!

My analysts told me about the battery analogy, which is a very apt description of this introvert:
Extroverts get their batteries charged by being around people, but drained by being alone.
Introverts get their batteries charged by being alone, but drained by being around people.

I even avoid main roads when getting around my familiar town.
I seek out quiet residential streets with no traffic.
I'd rather encounter as few people as possible than get there ASAP.
Plus, with no car behind me I can accelerate very slowly, and not rush up to stop signs, which saves gas.

I even avoid having to small-talk with neighbors by mowing my lawn when most of them are at work.

I can function at work and socially just fine when I have to, though I prefer to have to have a social lubricant like Bibi on my shoulder or a glass of wine in my hand.
I don't go to parties or weddings.
I do love a good conversation, but with a person I connect with, and only one person at a time.
Smalltalk, or grouptalk - when many people talk over each other, is the worst. :knockout:

Totally an introvert here but 40 years ago I was definitely an extrovert. Hubby is an extrovert which causes problems because he always wants to go out and doesn’t like going alone so he guilt trips me into being uncomfortable.

Shy and reserved, with a hefty dose of introvert. Large social events generally stress and exhaust me - I worry about them for ages in advance. I’d much prefer to spend an evening with a couple of people I know really well than have the ‘opportunity’ to mix with a room full of semi-acquaintances.

(introvert) But! I do always speak up for myself and others in public if I feel like it. I have always been shy, but I must admit, I do love having a significant amount of alone time. I really don't get lonely either. Perks I guess.

I have a feeling that a lot of us are introverts. We should throw an introvert party...that no one will attend.

I took this at the start of the year and was INFP-A which has persisted even though I've taken it about a dozen times since then. I was always ISTP - had been for years! Not sure what's changed..
I have to be a bit of an extrovert for work - leading a team and speaking up a lot in meetings but my saving grace is I'm remote-based from the main office so interact through video/audio/email for most of my work day. Whenever I'm in the main office, I am shattered by the face to face interaction!
