Hey we are on the news this AM LOL. Got our first frost last night. Brrrrr. Amy Freeze's name is so appropriate. LOL.

jerseyshoretv.jpg

amyfreeze.jpg

and it's a whopping 28 degrees F right now. Oh so warm. Not.
28.jpg

frosts kill all the bugs and makes you feel alive
but i bet that cold must get into Greg's crook knees
sometimes down home (we have a temperate climate here) the harbour would just start to freeze and there would be frost on the beech
good weather for panel beaters and plumbers
i think our proximity to the river and away from the beech made us cold in the winter
as soon as i get a full time job im buying insulation!
we thought we would be hardy enough to do without it but the house is just too old

what heating do you have at the beech house Missy ?

Hi NIRDI’s!

Sharon, oh no for getting a headache after putting your hair up. I hope you are feeling way better now.

Callie, Marty and I definitely enjoy giving each other a hard time. I was nervous to drive the truck but once I started driving it I was fine. I hate pulling my Macan in the garage so I was glad to let Marty pull the pickup in to the garage. Marty’s arm is not doing better and yes it takes longer to get over things the older we get. Shopping for your grand nieces sounds like so much fun. When my nieces were little girls I was picking up things for them all the time. Did you find a glitter unicorn dress? That makes me think of the cute little girl in Despicable Me.

Missy, how is your dad doing? Currently the forecast for the Mercury transit is snow the night before. It’s hard to say. I see you are getting COLD weather too. Your ice cream looks delicious and love the gorgeous fall colors. We are way past that here. Sorry you don’t enjoy the shorter days; I found on overpass I don’t plan on driving over in the dark - that scar on my macular is worse when back lit so headlights coming my way really distorts the bad vision and since the overpass has curves in it I’m scared I’ll wander out of my lane. I have lane assist that I can turn on but think I’ll stick to more straight roads after dark. Shopping therapy is good. Those glasses are fabulous. How do you like your new coat?

Bling Dreams, you guys are making a lot of progress on your wedding plans. I hope you get the venue you like but it’s good you have a second one as a backup. I agree with Missy, I would invite people even if they can’t make it. People like to be included. And as Austina said do what makes you happy because you can’t please everyone. It’s your day!

Jimmianne, ha ha for me enjoying my winter day. That’s about right. We are near 60 today but have horrible winds. Cold and snow are coming back tomorrow. I love your picture; is that your yard? The color of that tree in the front is fabulous. It’s like raspberry. I hope you are doing well.

Distracts, we get a few weeks of fall here but mostly winter.

Scandi, I hope your mom’s pain subsides quickly for her. Sounds like a perfect date for a special anniversary.

Austina, I am glad your area isn’t getting the heavy rain and flooding. It looks awful. How is Colin feeling? It’s nice you guys go for a walk every day. If my legs get stronger from lifting I hope to take advantage of the greenway that runs by 2 sides of our house. I can’t believe how difficult it is to fire someone. Marty had a guy in HR with all the paperwork signed off on by management and the HR guy got a call telling them to put the guy on another extended performance plan. Don’t know why or what happened. Crazy. Your trip in December sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck light wrangling. Marty had one of those canned ceiling lights over our stair well break off in the fixture. He uttered a few Gordon Ramsey style phrases.

Daisys and Diamonds, I hope you got power back. Good idea to pass on a cold shower. I took one camping one time after a night that got down in the teens. It was a small camper so I lathered up first and started spraying the water on me and it was ice cold. I asked Marty to check to see if our water heater light was on and it wasn’t. So my next question was how long would it take it to heat up the water - he said about 40 minutes so I just used the ice cold water and yes I screamed every time the water hit me to distract myself. I did NOT wash my hair. It sounds like you would enjoy several types of jobs; good luck finding something you enjoy.

Not much going on here. Marty is cleaning his gym. I was lucky to arrive at the car wash line at the right time. I was next after one car; and beat a full line of cars by minutes. My car looks way better now. I lifted when I got home and am starting laundry.

I think I will bake cookies today. My freezer doesn’t have any treats in there.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls! Happy big and small dog Sunday.

@junebug17 hope you are having fun with your friends. And staying warm.

Hi Daisy, we have gas, forced air heat at the beach house and radiator heat at our Brooklyn apartment. The cold doesn't bother Greg's knees interestingly enough. Being on the sea at the beach house makes our temperatures more mild both in summer and winter. One plus of many living by the sea. Of course there are fierce storms here but Greg actually enjoys watching them and I would too if I wasn't worried we were going to lose power or that our ferals were in danger. I hope you got your power back and I hope you find the perfect job. Sending you lots of job finding dust.

I do enjoy the fact that the cold kills the bugs. I do not like the bugs. Speaking of bugs my girlfriend and I always sign our texts/emails with bug hugs lol because of an Autocorrect error early on in our friendship. Haha instead of big hugs it corrected to bug hugs. Bug hugs to all. XO.

Thanks for asking marcy. My dad is doing well. My mom stayed overnight with him at the hospital and he was discharged the next afternoon. They are home now and he is feeling better with each day. He was very weak for the first 2 days. I am sorry driving at night is a challenge due to your vision and you are smart to stay safe. Thanks I love both the new glasses (won't be receiving them for probably 2 weeks due to my high RX) and my new coat. My new coat is fabulous. Winter white so not practical but IMO gorgeous and I am going to enjoy wearing it but we will see if it is hard to keep clean. It was the most expensive coat I ever bought I think but I needed a pick me up. Thank goodness Greg is easy going that way. But I need to "curb" haha curb my spending because we aren't made of money. How are you doing? Have you started Christmas shopping yet?

And did yo bake cookies? Yummmm. Kudos for all that lifting you did yesterday. I am super impressed. You go girl. XOXO

@Scandinavian gorgeous floors. LOVE them. Hugs to you and your mom and I hope she is feeling better with less pain with each day.

@Tekate Kate the great (((Hugs))). Thinking of you.

@Mamabean how did brunch go? Can we have some leftovers? ;-)
Is your ring back on you safe and sound I hope?
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. XO.

@Austina hope you and Colin are enjoying a good weekend and got that light up without any issues. I am glad you have your December trip to look forward to. It's a tough month for many but especially given all you have gone through in the past few months. Late Autumn and early Winter is a tough time for me due to the dark cold short days. Once the days start getting longer I feel a bit better. Anyway it's good to get away during this time of year I think. Hugs

@Jimmianne thinking of you and your gorgeous fall colors and hoping all is going smoothly. Hugs

@bling_dream19 hope you are having a sweet weekend. Hugs

@Slick1 hope you are enjoying the rest of your weekend and keep thinking winter holidays comnig soon. XOXO

@distracts hope you are having a fun Sunday. Any new SW boot ordering going on with you? :cool2:

We did cycle yesterday and we froze our tushies off lol. I was so proud of myself for the first half hour as I said to Greg this isn't bad (it was in the mid 30s) and I had 6 heavy layers on but after that my hands started burning so bad (Raynauds) and then my toes so every 40 minutes or so we had to find shelter to warm my hands up before we could continue as my fingers ulcerate in the cold. It was a long ride but it was fun I swear. I ordered those hand heater things that are arriving later today as obviously my extremities are my achilles heel for the cold.

Today we won't have the hand warmers yet for riding (coming later this afternoon or evening from Amazon) but today should be a bit warmer but no sun so not sure how that is going to go. But I am thrilled we can ride so woohoo. Some of you might remember that Greg created a electric heating cycling jacket for me but after a season with that I developed an issue with it as my body started internally bleeding due to my Schamberg disease so I had to stop that. Now I just layer and layer and layer but hope the hand warmers won't cause a similar bleeding issue. It's why I resisted anything like that for years. But we shall see.

You might ask did we have ice cream yesterday despite the cold? And the answer would be a resounding Yasssssss. We are crazy. Haha.

HI:

NIRDI should out! :wavey:

We had a snowfall warning here but didn't get anywhere near what was predicted. Good! But it is bloody cold.

Spent yesterday traipsing downtown for mens shoes. Had a great lunch after with my family. Kinda fun way to spend a dreary and snowy day. Fun Saturday after a very busy (heavy) work week.

Did see a gorgeous pair of rose gold earrings yesterday...……. http://rosshaynesdesigns.com/

@missy which coat did you get? Last year I blew the wad on a long coat--and it is worth every penny.

cheers--Sharon

@missy, I'm glad you're getting out during the day. I agree it can really help sometimes. Your autumn pics are gorgeous! And what a sweet pic of Ollie. :love:Wishing you comfort and peace for your grief over your sweet Francesca. XX. Your new glasses are really cute and the new coat sounds beautiful and I'm glad you're loving it. And it will serve you well in these cold temps! I guess winter is really here. :(2 Those heat warmers help so I hope they work out for you. I'm so glad your father is doing well and I hope it continues and he feels much better with each passing day.

@distracts, your earrings are gorgeous!!

@marcy, yay to a long weekend! Sorry about Marty's arm and I hope it starts feeling better soon. Congrats on lifting 60 pounds, amazing  Hope you're having a relaxing weekend and yum to cookies

@Calliecake, my appointments all went smoothly but I was pooped when I got home! Any luck finding a unicorn dress? There has to be at least one out there lol. Buying presents for little ones makes Christmas so much more fun; buying gifts for adults not so much sometimes, ha.

@bling_dream19, oh no to losing your voice! I had something similar a month ago so I empathize and hope you're feeling better. So sorry about the venue and it's good you have a back-up. I'm late in responding but it's a tough call and there's no right or wrong, but I think I would probably invite nieces and nephews rather than run the risk of hurting anyone's feelings. And yeah, you're right, chances are not everyone is going to end up attending anyway. That cake topper is beautiful! I love your style.

@Jimmianne, amazing Fall picture! :kiss2: Thinking of you and sending love and support. Life can certainly be challenging at times. OX

@Scandinavian, I hope your mother gets some relief from her pain soon; my heart goes out to her. Congratulations on the anniversary. Pizza and wine...what a great tradition! Love the floors and the beautiful views. And that cozy fire must feel great in the cold weather.

@canuk-gal, I agree, going out to eat with family or friends is a great way to brighten up an otherwise dark and dismal day. Dang, the link just took me to the first page of the website so I couldn't see the earrings. I'm sorry you had such a busy work week and I hope the one coming up is better for you. <3

@Austina, I know it must be so hard to go on walks without your sweet Dottie. You are doing a great job on those lights, particularly because it turned out to be much more than you bargained for. Hope you and Colin are having a pleasant weekend.

@Daisys and Diamonds, so sorry you lost power. It really is such an inconvenience and I hope it's back on by now. I'm sorry Melanie is going through such a challenging time and I am hoping for the best. It's great to hear that Gary is in good spirits! Sending you lots of dust on finding a job that works for you; I know it can be hard to do.

@Tekate, thinking of you and hoping things are going as smoothly as possible. Good luck with the closing and I hope you have a wonderful time visiting with your family.

The play was really enjoyable and very well done; the dancing, the singing, the acting...the talent that some people have is just amazing to me. It followed Carole King's musical career from the late 50's to her Carnegie hall appearance in 72. I didn't realize she and her husband had co-written so many well-known songs.

Not much going on today...just hanging out with dh and doing odds and ends around the house. We might decide to be bad and do some kind of take-out for dinner - I'm leaving it up to dh lol.
We're going to South Carolina later next week for a long weekend so I guess I should start thinking about what I want to bring. Short trip though so shouldn't be a big deal.

Wishing everyone a lovely Sunday!

@junebug17 dust greatfuly received thank you

@missy that totally sucks you can't wear the heated jacket, but it sounds really scary, i love that you eat icecream in all the weather
i hope the beauriful garden state is being kind to you and the kitties are doing ok. Its good the cold doesn't bother Greg's knees

best wishes to all
we have power
and hot water
....seems the hob was actually working durring all this - wish i had know
my house smells of last night's slow cooker ribbs - i cooked them in the hall because the plug was close to the floor

Hi NIRDI’s!

Scandi, your place is looking awesome. What a gorgeous view. How is your mother doing? And your grandmother? Are you getting some time to relax?

Missy, I’m with Greg; I love watching storms. I’ve always got an eye on the sky. I am so glad to hear your dad is home and feeling better each day. Sweet. Your white coat sounds great; is is something that you can wash or have dry cleaned? Ha ha to “curb’ spending. I keep nagging at Marty about that myself and then ordered some stuff from LL Bean today and a few things for Marty’s stocking today. We’ve had an expensive fall between my new phone, Marty replacing his iPad and then buying the new pickup so we aren’t buying big presents for Christmas. Good news is I will probably have myself paid back for those 3 things by the end of the month. We have to buy a white elephant gift for our family Christmas, get a gift for some friends and I buy my employees gift cards each year. How about you? Are you doing any Christmas shopping yet? I did bake chocolate chip cookies and enjoyed some yesterday and today. Thank you; I was proud of myself lifting 60 pounds. Nice that you went for a ride but darn your hands and feet got cold. Good idea to get some of those hand warmers; they sure help. Have you tried battery socks? I hope the hand warmers don’t cause you any problems. Of course you should have delicious ice cream. Looks tasty.

Sharon, nice that you didn’t get as much snow as predicted. It started snowing her a while ago. Darn the cold weather. Shopping and having lunch with the family sounds fun on a snowy day. IMO a long coat is definitely worth every penny.

Junebug, I have kept so busy this weekend I was kind of sad to have tomorrow off. I don’t plan on doing much though. Thank you; I was excited to lift 60 pounds. It wasn’t that difficult either. Good deal all of your appointments went well and I hope you are rested up now. How nice the play was so enjoyable. I just had a Carole King song go off in my head; I like a lot of her songs too. Great idea to let DH decide what to order in for supper. That’s exciting to head to SC this weekend. I enjoy the beach vicariously through you and Missy.

Nicky, I made chocolate chip cookies and did enjoy some both yesterday and today. I am a cookie monster for sure. Thank you, when I started lifting weights I was concerned it would cause problems for me; so far it’s been good for me. Woo hoo to having power and hot water. Hopefully the smell of ribs is gone or at least still smells good.

It seems like I’ve been busy all day. Did dishes a few times, washed and changed our sheets and blankets, did a few batches of laundry (I know NOTHING like Missy’s daily laundry chores), wrote and submitted my December article, sorted through some papers and filed things we need, brewed up an all important batch of jewelry cleaner and did some shopping online.

Take care.

GM girls! Happy Veterans Day and happy Monday!

@junebug17 so glad you enjoyed the show and had a great time with your friends. And enjoyed a quiet rest of the weekend with your sweet DH. How nice you have an upcoming SC beach trip to look forward to. Thank you so much for your continued good wishes and have a wonderful day dear Junie. (((Hugs))).

@canuk-gal I agree. Spending on outerwear is a necessity to stay warm and cozy and comfy. We will see if it works. I own a few of the CG coats and got a newer model and will see if it keeps me warm. I have so much trouble staying warm when outside. I am going to layer underneath the coat this time and that will help. Generally I am not a fan of layering but I do it while cycling and it seems to help though it isn't foolproof. My problem is my thyroid not allow me to regulate my internal thermometer but doing what I can to remediate that.

Glad you had a lovely weekend and got to shop for shoes (albeit men's shoes) and had a good lunch out with family. And woohoo for getting less snow than predicted. That is sweet. Hope you are having a warm cozy Monday and enjoying whatever you are doing at the moment. (((Hugs))).

@Daisys and Diamonds yay for power and hot water! Hope airing out the house helped the smell. We are doing OK thanks for asking. And yes I eat ice cream (dairy free) all year long haha. Hope you are having a nice Monday. XOXO.

@marcy how did Monday get here so darn fast? Yummy to chocolate chip cookies. Oh I want some. I hope you took advantage of the 50% off sale LL Bean is running. I didn't buy anything on sale anywhere lol so obviously I need to shop more to get some stuff on sale. So proud of you lifting all that weight. I have not yet started shopping for holidays but good for you. And sounds like a good plan since you and Marty are already getting lots of big ticket items you need and want. Is the white elephant thing where you can steal gifts from the others? I dont love that but I know people enjoy that game for some reason. I would feel bad taking a gift away someone wanted but I might have gotten that game wrong and if so NM. LOL. Yay for submitting your Dec article already. Sweet. And lol to laundry chores. Yup. It's never ending but as long as our machines work I am happy to do laundry all day long. Nice to cleaning bling and online shopping. Have a sweet Monday sweet Marcy. XOXO.

@Slick1 have a lovely Monday and don't let anyone drive you cuckoo. And enjoy our last warm day. Sigh. Hugs.

@Scandinavian continued healing dust and love to you and your mom. Hugs.

@bling_dream19 hope you had a great weekend. Hugs.

@Tekate great Kate the wise and good and sweet and generous. How are you dear girl? Thinking of you and hoping you are feeling good and doing well and that your family is doing well. Sending you big hugs and much love and hoping all is going smoothly. XOXO.

We cycled a good ride yesterday and it was a wonderful day. Enjoyed the beach, the trees changing colors (happening so fast and changing so fast) and of course ice cream. Yummmmmm.

and a beach scene from yesterday. @Daisys and Diamonds it's Asbury Park. @bling_dream19 bringing a bit of beach and ocean to you dear girl.

we went to the beach today
Gary felt like driving so we went down to the south mole (at the river mouth) nice picture of my thumb
its hard to see but looking at the swell was making me sea sick
this is looking at the south mole Wanganui river / Tasmen sea
the 20191111_125256.jpg
the next one is looking north just infront of the north mole
no one in surfing today 20191111_125328.jpg
this is a bit further on at the beach
im used to long stretchs of white sand beaches so this is a bit of a shock. so much tree comes down the river sometimes they have to close the beach to swiming . they do groom the beach in time for Christmas 20191111_125456.jpg
no Jersey shore board walk im afraid

Hi NIRDI’s! Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you to our Veteran’s and their families.

Missy, I hope your new coat keeps me warm. The only coats that keep me warm are Squall Parkas by Land’s End. Of course I’ll get cold in anything if I am out long enough. I didn’t see a 50% off at LL Bean - darn. I had a 20% off coupon that I got with their catalog. I would have spent more with that kind of sale. Yes, our white elephant gifts are where you can steal something from someone else. I usually don’t take anything either. I also usually end up with something Marty would want. It’s all in good fun though. Glad you got to ride yesterday and enjoy some ice cream. Gorgeous beach shots.

Daisys and Diamonds, great beach shots too. It does look like an angry sea but very pretty.

So as you can tell I did get to watch the Mercury transit. Our solar scope showed that little black dot really well. I got a few photos of the transit as well but my camera focused on the limb but I know what it is.

I am brewing up scalloped potatoes and meatloaf for lunch. Marty said the roads are icy so he didn’t know if he’d run home from the gym or not. He can have leftovers later.

Have a great day.

Hello lovelies

@Daisys and Diamonds I hope everything is sorted out now and you’re able to have hot meals and even more importantly, hot showers! I can’t bear cold water and often have it hotter than I should. I’m glad Gary is feeling a bit better and that Melanie isn’t as bad as you’d been led to believe. Good luck with the job search, I really hope something turns up for you soon.

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and day off today @marcy, those shots are just stunning. Well done on increasing your weights. Just think of all the money you’ve saved by not shopping in the sale :D Yum to the cookies:lickout:

Wow @Scandinavian - your place is looking fantastic. I hope your Mum and Grandmother are doing better and not in so much pain. When is Pinky going to be ready?

The show sounds great @junebug17 I think I’ve read about it. Did you end up getting take out food? Nice to be looking forward to going to SC again this week.

Lovely earrings @canuk-gal - will they be part of your birthday presents? Ugh to snow, but at least it wasn’t as bad as expected.

How’s your Dad doing @missy? I’m sure he‘s more comfortable recovering at home and I hope he’s progressing well. Good that you managed to get it another ride yesterday, and of course, the essential ice cream :lickout: I’d be the size of a house if I ate that much but all that cycling must be burning off the calories  Your new glasses are really funky, and I can imagine they’ll look great on you.

Hope all the packing up is going well @Tekate.

We’ve had a quiet weekend, I was going to do the light yesterday, but when I unscrewed it, I found the electrician had wired it in such a way, that it would’ve been difficult to get the wires out without damaging them, so I just put it back. I think I’ll get another solar light from Costco instead, we have 2, one on the garage and one on the orangery, and they’re really effective.

Shirley was very morose yesterday, so it was a difficult conversation, constantly redirecting the chat to stop her complaining.

Pilates tomorrow :eek-2:

Marcy! I am so sorry! I got that totally wrong. It was Eddie Bauer and Lands End that has the 50% off promo code. Oy I can barely write a coherent sentence these days let alone remember stuff. Anyway now that you know that LE and EB has the 50% off sale happy shopping. I do what I can. :cool2:

Hi everyone, I am sorry I am not keeping up too well, I'm on and check and of course my ADD has me answering questions first :)

@missy you were colder than we were up here in Maine! Chris said this past weekend was cold and he needs a new coat. (of course that is Brooklyn not the shore). Missy, I agree with Marcy, your new shades are awesome! Don't be too hard on yourself, retail therapy sometimes gives a lift! I'm very happy to read your dad is doing well Missy, that is always good news .. your pix are as always, beautiful.. I ate the end of our java chip ice cream today and it was divine! how are you feeling? sending you bunches of hugs and love Missy.. HI to Greg and the furkids.. xoxoxoxo

@marcy that was one helluva lift going on Marcy, it's really amazing and it must feel so good to beat yourself, I am not a huge competitor except with myself. Glad to read that Marty's arm is improving. Marcy, when I was at IBM it was VERY hard to get fired for incompetence, like years, one could just keep 'open dooring' it which mean you could go to different managers, divisions, levels, there was one guy that took several years to fire, he even actually went all the way to the CEO of IBM, John Akers then, amazaballs to me, but eventually he was fired, I was always NICE to him because even back then I thought this guy could go postal..

@Austina Hi Austina, I too was happy to read the rains and flooding were not affecting you, I too am looking forward to your december visit! :)

@Scandinavian Hi Scandi, I was sorry to read your mom was having pain, so sorry sending her support and a hug.. the floors are gorgeous and the beach/winter house is a stunner! wishing you and your family many, many happy years there Scandi :) xoxo

@junebug17 Hi June! I read you are going to SC? I lived in Raleigh for 7 years but I remember winter there, albeit not like here in Maine, but it only snowed once while we were there, I would bet that SC is warmer though, do you guys heat your pool? How's the kids and your husband? take out is a real treat for us, first we are cheap, but more importantly by the time we get any take out home it's cold. Hope everyone is well and you are doing well June. sending love your way. xoxo

@Daisys and Diamonds beautiful pictures of your shoreline and beach.. I am so happy to read you have electricity again... sending love your way! xoxo

@canuk-gal Hi Sharon, spending time with family is so much fun.. sounds like a great Saturday. hope all is well up north! xoxoxo

@Jimmianne i'm another person who says 'Gorgeous pix' sending a huge hug your way.. and wishing you are feeling good Jimmi! xoxo

@Calliecake Hey Callie, how's all the nieces? I love my big ones and my baby ones :) they are all so so so so special to me.. I really feel so lucky to have all these young women in my life.. sending you love Callie.. hope your weather is okay.. we are getting sleet tonight. xoxoxox

@AV_ HI AV!

Well, I have my last meetup with my OS on Wed, don't know why actually but he will look in my mouth and say good bye I guess. I'm starting my second week of clindamycin and am alive and my stomach hurts but no really bad effects yet.

We have been packing and going out and geting more boxes, neighbors come by to say goodbye, I look at the morning sunrise and I feel so sad, then I think of Autie and I get so happy.. I am a 4 season girl going back to a 2 season world, hot and hotter :( but Autie will make it all great. Our builder has an architect with him on his 'team' so we are now in conversation with our architect who sent us a houseplan (rough very rough) with 6 full bathrooms? WTF, I dont even think we need an architect as his ante 20K and I hate paying it but this is John's baby like diamonds are mine so be it. Basically we told him we want to draw people out of the house to the pool area so John told him he wanted a casita which I had no clue what was but truthfully as I said, this is John's gig.. so he has this huge house L shaped all around the pool with an L shaped pool, we both looked at it and said NO.. we have to build a 3,000sq ft house, so we will do that but I don't need some huge big thing (and yes I know to most of the world 3000sq ft house is huge), I want the pool to be rectangular with a raised spa and a beach area for Autie and any others that may be born. At the back of the pool I am going to have a wall with 2 or 3 sheers (for those that aren't pool savvy that is a thin line with water spouting out).. I'm really thinking of glass tile and some funky nice cool coping and patio.. so making that a financial feasibility will be a challenge I'll bet. I'm modern all the way. The house will have a separate outdoor kitchen because this is Austin and we cook outside! I'm tired just writing this stuff.

Movers come Thursday, Thursday at 4:00 final walkthru, closing 9:00 a.m. off to get our Salley from the vet and then we go to Brooklyn to see my Christopher, miss him, he's checking into coming to Austin for Gobble Day (US thanksgiving), that would be great. I miss being able to laze around and read PS and think etc, but this is gonna be a very hectic time for the next few weeks.. Sending healing, loving, caring vibes to you all.. I'm so lucky to have NIRDI's.. I really am.

Hello again.

Austina, good idea to get some solar lights. Sounds much easier and safer than messing with wiring. I am trying not to shop for extra stuff until after Thanksgiving and then I need to focus on Christmas. I still want a tanzanite ring though. Sorry the conversation with Shirley was difficult to steer in a more positive direction. You are a good friend trying to focus on the positive with her.

Missy, woo hoo for riding 8K this year. That is the diameter of the Earth; how amazing is that? I did see the Land's End sale. I resisted. I like to watch for their daily deals around Christmas time; you can get some great things at very reasonable prices. I didn't check Eddie Bauer; I love their t-shirts and thermal shirts; I have a row of them in our closet.

Kate, we are in the deep freeze today too. It finally got up to 10 today but wind chill dropped it back in the low single digits. We had about 2 inches of snow. I'm like that too; I'm not really competitive but certainly am with myself. That is scary someone at IBM that could go postal took so long to fire. I've tried to offer NN to other departments many times but her reputation preceeds her so they weren't interested. Good luck with your meds; sorry your stomach is bothering you. I'm liking the plans you have for your new place. Definitely focus on the pool area since you'll be outside a lotf. Will you have 3000 sq ft on one floor? That is a big house. Party at Kate's house - bring your bling - I'll bake cookies. You will have a very busy week; packing and last minute stuff is hectic and tiresome. Soon you'll be living near Autie though. Sweet. We did finish the Jack Ryan series this weekend and thought the last few episodes were good.

Our scalloped potatoes and meatloaf for lunch was quite tasty. Marty ate most of it. I had popcorn for supper. I finished my other 2 batches of laundry, did dishes twice, wrote notes in 40 Christmas cards to take to work for the local retirement homes and watched several episodes of the Morning Show with Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon. It was pretty good.

Take care.

GM girls! Had to restart my computer as it is loading so slowly. Hope that helped.

we went to the beach today

Awesome photos. It's not only the Jersey Shore that is beautiful Daisy. Thanks for sharing with us. The beach is restorative to one's soul.

Wow, just gorgeous Marcy. What a sight. Appreciate you sharing it with us.

You are so welcome and thank you! Yes we cycled the diameter of the earth this cycling season. Not too shabby. Sometimes I wish I could cycle very far away and not come back. JK. I think. I love specials but haven't bought anything on sale yet.

I'm not really competitive but certainly am with myself.

Me too. I am not competitive with others but I am with myself.

A perfect day. Yummy to scalloped potatoes and popcorn. I love my carbs too. And good for you doing laundry and dishes and Christmas notes for the local retirement homes. You rock Marcy.

Thanks Austina. My dad is doing A OK and I appreciate everyone's good wishes for him. He is going to be 86 in April and I just hope and pray he will be with us for a long time. He is a very special person and I know I am biased but he really is objectively a special man.

LOL I know we eat a lot of ice cream and with my low thyroid my endocrinologist is also surprised how thin I am but I agree it's because we are so active. This winter I am sure the pounds will come back on and I have already gained about 6lbs and am up to 101 so woohoo. It's because I am eating more now that the days are shorter and colder. Bring on the carbs. LOL.

Smart idea about the Costco solar lights. Sorry Shirley was in a morose complaining mood/mode yesterday and hope she perks up for your visit. Enjoy Pilates today. I managed to hurt my bad ankle last night no clue what I did but it hurts to walk. Oy it's always multiple somethings isn't it. Hope you have a good day Austina.

HI to Greg and the furkids.. xoxoxoxo

Thanks Kate the great. It was super cold here last Friday and even Saturday but we cycled anyway haha. But our cycling days are over probably or if not over totally over for the most part. Today temps will go below freezing for some snow that is anticipated later. Starting out in the 50s with rain. Crazy weather indeed. Tell Chris we say hey and same to all your lovely family. And of course Greg and I send you big hugs. I hope the packing goes smoothly for you and despite the fact you are moving where there are only 2 seasons Autie makes it all worthwhile. And you can visit us in the other seasons so you get to enjoy all seasons at least part of the year.
Well, I have my last meetup with my OS on Wed, don't know why actually but he will look in my mouth and say good bye I guess. I'm starting my second week of clindamycin and am alive and my stomach hurts but no really bad effects yet.

Biggest bucketloads of dust being sent your way for a good appointment with the OS tomorrow. I also have a medical appt tomorrow with my endocrinologist and he hasn't sent me my lab results from last Monday as requested which is annoying. I wanted to look them over before I see him tomorrow. Making a long trip into the city and now I have nothing to look over to discuss with him til I see him. He plans on showing me the results I am sure tomorrow AM at my visit and it is frustrating as I wanted to be able to evaluate them beforehand. But I digress. Good luck tomorrow and I am thinking good thoughts for you dear Kate the great. XOXO. We are so lucky to have you Kate! Don't let the next few hectic weeks stress you and don't worry about us. We are here when you have time and energy and in the meantime good luck with everything.

@Scandinavian how's your mom doing? How are you doing? Any ring updates?

@Slick1 hey girl hope you are having a good week. Hope you get to go home early today. Hugs and love.

@AV_ how are you doing sweet AV? Thinking of you and hoping your week is going well.

Some pics from yesterday's record breaking cycling. Today is raining then snowing so just bathing the cats, cleaning the house and time permitting running some errands. With my somehow sprained ankle. Crazy because I did nothing but get up and bam last night it hurt and still does. Weird. Anyway have a great day girls.

Our 8K ice cream yummm. Jimmy came in just for us yesterday as he is closed now on Mondays and Tuesdays. What a guy! I mean how sweet is he to come in to give us ice cream. Did I ever tell you girls he looks like Rob Lowe? LOL it's true.

And leaving you with some words of wisdom that I have learned the hard way. So true.

My experience is most people are in the #2 category. Friends in good times and leave you in bad times. But it's all OK because I learn from each experience and am wiser for it. I am very lucky that I have the good friends I do and that I have you lovely NIRDIs too. You are good and true and I am grateful for you.

Hello lovelies

Wow @missy, you smashed it, 8,000 miles  I hope your appt went well this morning, and last week‘s test results were good. I hope your ankle isn’t hurting too badly, I wonder how you did that? Me, I’m aching everywhere, must be getting old:lol:

I hope your appt with the OS went well today @Tekate and that you’re cracking on with the packing. You have so much to look forward to when you move, seeing Autie growing up will more than compensate for the lack of seasons. I think 3000 sq ft is the perfect size for a house, and I’ll be asking for recommendations for pool people and other trades.

I’ve got a year’s free Apple TV with my new IPhone @marcy, so I’ve downloaded the first 3 episodes of the Morning Show, but haven’t watched them yet. I might keep them for the plane. Sounds like you had a really productive day yesterday, and that’s such a kind, thoughtful thing to do for those in the care home.

Haven’t really done much today, I went to Pilates, Colin went for a walk, and we were going to go and see our local MP start his election campaign this afternoon, but it was windy, pouring with rain, and we couldn’t find anywhere to park! So we drove there, drove around, and came back home.

Hope all the lovely NIRDIs are having a good day :wavey:

Hi everyone, I am sorry I am not keeping up too well, I'm on and check and of course my ADD has me answering questions first :)

@missy you were colder than we were up here in Maine! Chris said this past weekend was cold and he needs a new coat. (of course that is Brooklyn not the shore).

I am so happy to read you have electricity again... sending love your way! xoxo

@canuk-gal Hi Sharon, spending time with family is so much fun.. sounds like a great Saturday. hope all is well up north! xoxoxo

GM girls! Quick post as I am off to the endocrinologist with a super early appointment. Hoping traffic isn't too bad. I think we are getting into gridlock alert territory and I have a more than a few appointments the next 2 months in the city. It's been quite the challenge leaving from the shore heading into the city but at least the endocrinologist has 7AM appointments. The other appointments aren't til 9 and after and there is much more traffic at that time of day.

@Austina I hear you. Getting older re our bodies but our minds are still young. I am in my early thirties in my head. No clue what I did to my ankle and it is still feeling weak and uncomfortable. Just hope it goes away as quickly as it came on pretty please. That ankle is slightly swollen all the time because it is the ankle I broke both the tibia and fibula 5 and a half years ago. Cannot tell if it is more than its usual swollen.

Glad you got to enjoy Pilates yesterday and that Colin had a good walk. And sweet about getting a year's free of Apple TV with your new iPhone. Is it bad I don't know what Apple TV is? I am living under a rock lol. It rained here and then snowed a bit yesterday but nothing stuck as far as we can tell. We will see how it is in the city today. Hoping it is just cold (and it is freezing) and no snow is around. How is your weather? Sending you warm hugs.

@canuk-gal that is a great birthday gift and I am thinking perhaps a part one and there might be a part 2? We are still not giving up on cycling for a little bit more we hope. Greg took in the waist of my warmest cycling pants yesterday so they fit better and he sewed wind proofing on his warmest pair so we are ready. I think LOL. No cycling today though as wind chills are in the teens F I believe. That is way too cold. I am going to try out my new coat today. And I want to wish you a very happy birthday just in case it is today. But if it isn't I hope it is a very happy birthday month continuing for you. Sending you warm (((hugs))) and XOXO.

@Slick1 good morning sweet Slick and hope you have a good day today. Hugs.

@Scandinavian continued healing dust to your mom and hugs to you.

@Tekate Kate the great, I am thinking of you and hoping the OS appointment goes well. And that things are moving along smoothly. Hugs.

@Mamabean hope all is well and that you feel good after a great brunch this past weekend. I hope you are getting some rest and relaxation. XOXO.

@Daisys and Diamonds hope you are having a good week. XOXO.

@AV_ how are you? I hope all is well with you and that your week is going smoothly. Thinking of you.

@marcy hope work went well for you after your lovely long weekend and hope you are staying warm and cozy. Hugs.

@bling_dream19 how is your week going? One month and counting. Lots of good things to look forward to dear Bling Dream. XOXO.

Today we are off to the endocrinologist. I received my results yesterday via email and once again they are not good. The endocrinologist wants to add Tirosint (synthetic hypoallergenic T4 not covered by my insurance and a very expensive med) to my med regime but I don't want that rather prefer more T3 as that doesn't require converting to T3. My body won't convert T4 to T3 but he is stuck on no more T3 and wants to give me T4. Long and boring for anyone but me so suffice to say I think he will win that battle as he is worried about his license of course and doesn't really understand T3. Most endocrinologists don't as medical school is lagging behind science it seems. Very challenging because I don't feel well and know more T4 won't help me rather it will make me sicker as I cannot convert it to the T3 it needs to become. The kicker is I have no energy to fight so probably not going to be able to convince him as he knows only what he knows and doesn't realize what he doesn't know. Enough of my chatter about that.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday and know I am sending you lots of warm hugs and love and wishing you al a lovely day. XOXO.

Leaving you with a freshly bathed Oliver. They all did OK with their baths yesterday.

Hello lovely

Ugh @missy, I’m so sorry that your ongoing issue with your thyroid is getting no better. I would’ve hoped the endocrinologist would listen to you about not changing your drug regime, you know what does and doesn’t work for you, and you’re the one who has to deal with the effects of the drugs. It must be so frustrating to constantly feel you’re banging your head against a brick wall.

I’m glad the kitties did well with their dips, Ollie is looking really good, have you had news of their cultures back yet?

It’s cold her, about 8 or 9 degs I think, but we’re going out for a walk every day to get some exercise. We met the same woman we met on Saturday, who recognised Colin because she used to see him on Tuesdays when he’d walk Dottie and I was at Pilates. She has an aging Vizla called Axel, and we stopped and chatted to her for a while. When we got back, we went in to town to take back the light we didn’t need, and had lunch before going to the cinema to see Midway. We really enjoyed it, it was very well done, and I always like that they tell you what happened to the characters afterwards.

I think Apple have launched their own TV to compete with Netflix and are producing their own shows like The Morning Show. I won’t bother to pay for it once my free year’s subscription is up, we already pay enough for our satellite TV package.

I’m assuming that’s not your only present @canuk-gal  I was expecting something sparkly.

Hi @Daisys and Diamonds, how’re you doing?

Big wave out to all the lovely NIRDI, thinking of you all and hoping you’re doing well. :wavey:

HI:

@Austina I think it might be! LOL It is a good gift--and I always buy what I want anyway. The postman delivered it when I was here so there was no hiding it from me; so I opened it despite my actual BD is the end of the month. I already got some rose gold hoops and am enjoying them.

It is 6C here but bright and sunny. @missy I am impressed with you guys still riding! Hope your appt. went well.

Not much else to report. Shout out NIRDI's!

cheers--Sharon

Girls! I am so tired but had to post and share the news that round 1 is negative. It's more complicated than that of course and I posted deets in the Ringworm thread if you are interested.

@Austina of course the vet called us when we were in Costco. You can imagine that scenario lol. I am glad you guys are getting out and walking despite the cold. Good for you. Thanks for all your well wishes. Update below.

@canuk-gal thank you! We didn't ride yesterday or today but maybe hopefully tomorrow? Depends on Greg's work schedule and how windy cold it is here. It was freezing here yesterday and today. How are you? Yay for new rose gold hoops for part of your birthday gift. I know you are looking gorgeous and sassy in them! Thanks for your good wishes.

@Daisys and Diamonds Nicky, we are all so glad you are here with us and we love your company. Hope you are having a good day.

So I saw the endocrinologist this morning and he surprised the heck out of me. I was all ready for a fight but he was like OK, I will Rx the dose you want. You are very hypothyroid still and while I don't prescribe T3 in that dose often (at all) I know you know your stuff. He said (he always says this) he trusts me and I am a medical professional too so he will go with my request. Very nice and respectful of him and so lovely not to have had to battle.

BUT the insurance company denied it :( so now I am waiting for them to fax the endocrinologist a form for him to fill out to see if I can get it covered. I had a long convo with the pharmacist this morning after we got home from the endocrinologist and that was exhausting too. Always (so many) hurdles to jump through and in the meantime I am not going to start the new dose for fear of running out. I actually priced it at Costco this afternoon since we were there running errands (and fielding calls from the vet lol) and it would cost me $750 every 3 months with the Costco discount if my insurance won't pay. Doable but expensive given all my other meds (that are not covered) and other expenses. So I am waiting and hoping hard that Cigna will approve it eventually. What a hassle on top of all this other stress we are dealing with...I would love one thing to go smoothly. Oh wait it did. The endocrinologist didn't fight me. But now I need to get the meds lol. The Rx is only half the battle.

Thanks for listening to me ramble and ramble. I am incoherent I am so tired. Have a lovely evening girls and hugs!

thank you dear missy

and oh missy im happy about RW and your doc agreeing with you but concerned about the insurence (smilies not working today)

even though im a 'rightie' if there was one thing i could gift the people of America it would be universal health care because what on earth do people do who don't have the nouce you do or for that matter the money for insurence premiums
admitadly Its far from perfect here for instance unless a patient wants to pay, one has to take the drugs the government pharmaceutical agency gets the best deals on from big pharmac but when Gary had his heart problems we could not have faulted the care he received - of course we were then living in a big city (for NZ) with a big hospital with a full cardiology dept

as someone with a very low opinion on insurence companies in general (because they keep shifting the goal posts and make us jump through hoops) i sincerely wish you luck with them

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, woo hoo to riding over 8000 miles. That is awesome!!! I get the desire to just keep cycling and never come back, and just kidding. It’s awesome your dad is doing okay. Hug him for me. And your mom too. Oh no that your ankle is acting up, I hope it’s better by now. I was worried it was the ankle you broke. Yes, sadly most people do fall in category #2. Sometimes the friend that sticks by you is the last one you’d expect. I am sorry you had someone disappoint you; their loss for sure. I am relieved to hear your appointment went well and they got your meds worked out, but oh no your insurance company is denying it. What a hassle and I hope you get that worked out soon. Cute picture of Ollie; he looks sneaky, sleepy and unhappy all at once there. The kitty of many moods. I’ll go check out the RW thread but that’s a good thing round 1 is negative.

Austina, good idea to download some things to watch on the plane. I watched all of the Snoopy episodes already. No one is shocked I’m sure. Your weather sounds chilly and wet. Stay safe and warm. I’m with you on not signing up for streaming services. They seem cheap but by the time you add in all the ones you want you may as well keep satellite.

Sharon, Happy Birthday (later this month)! That bike pump may come in more handy than a 5 carat diamond, but that would have been a nice surprise. Ha Ha. Rose gold hoops are very nice too.

Nicky, I hope you are having a good day. Glad to hear Gary was well taken care of when he had heart problems.

It’s closer to Friday 5 pm than earlier today. Sweet.

Not much going on; working, lifting and goofing off.

Speaking of insurance I am NOT happy with my company. Remember I moved our auto insurance over to our home owner's company, got a revised policy at a lower rate and they haven't sent the new policy to our mortgage company. Our escrow analysis came today with the higher premium. Sigh.

Take care.
