I have been following your journey! hopefully not too close and in a stalky way. In fact it was your posts that made me join PS.

Anyway I think the rose gold looks very pretty and you will be very happy with it. And when I see the gold in a store or on somebody I love it and want it and have considered it many times.
BUT I know I would get tired of it after a while. I am sure it would be years but I I know would change it again.

When I grew up in Germany Rose Gold was called Russian Gold and was deemed of lesser value. That is of course not true, in fact the opposite is correct if we talk about historic pieces like Faberge. But subjectively it was considered not as valuable maybe because nothing that came out of the Sowjetunion at that time was "good". So we were trained not to like it and I still have that in me (silly I know).

You still have some time until you have to make a definite decision and you can play around. Keep us posted!

PS: I am in the the process of changing my 1ct princess cut Lightbox diamond setting again. The two tone twisted design I have is not working out for me and I a getting something very architectural and clean lined.

@frogplus That rose gold looks absolutely gorgeous on you!! In fact, you have such pretty hands and hair, my goodness I think anything would look beautiful on you! Question - do you want a rose gold wedding band? Do you want your wedding band to be something you wear forever? If so, do you think you will love rose gold forever? I think it is hard to know answers to these questions, but it is good to mull it over.

Also love the 1 carat size on you. It is significant and prominent. I have enjoyed following your journey. You have really piqued my interest in lab diamonds. In regard to the setting, I have ordered a number of super inexpensive 1 carat CZ rings, and in my experience the taper on the band is crucial.

Lol not stalky at all! I'm so glad to hear my journey inspired you to join. Very interesting history about rose gold in Germany! I did a tiny bit of reading about it because I was concerned about it being trendy, and it was actually popular in the Victorian era, in the roaring 20s, on and off throughout the ages. Honestly I'm not too worried about it being trendy, I love it and if I decided I don't love it anymore later, it's not the end of the world to have a new setting made in a different metal. I'm finding that I'm less sentimental than I thought I would be!

Wow thank you for the compliments! Made my day! Yes, I'm thinking if I go with the rose gold engagement ring, I'll do a rose gold wedding band too. But as I said above, I'm not opposed to changing them both later if I get tired of rose gold.

Just to add I also bought a cheapy in yellow gold but I think rose gold is the best on me. Thoughts?

I think the rose gold looks the best with your coloring. This is from a person that’s not a big fan of rose gold because it looks terrible on me. I’m super pale so that may be the difference...On you it looks perfect!

I agree, Rose Gold it is - despite my dislike for it. :) The yellow comes in 2nd.

Yay! Decision made. I was briefly doubting myself thinking maybe yellow gold is more traditional. F it, I love rose gold!

I'm a recent convert to rose gold. I think the white metals can look fresh and beautiful but they can also look grey, washed out or glitzy. As you said in an earlier post frogplus rose gold has a way of blending in on the skin and I love the contrast of white diamonds with the rose colour. It can be a process choosing jewelry you love and in some ways it's been good to have had the time to work it out. I hope Lightbox comes through with what you're waiting for.

I am not normally a fan of rose gold but I think the rose gold looks beautiful on you. My second choice would be the white gold.

I still hold out hope that lightbox will release a one carat round un-pierced diamond. I hope they do it before you get married!

I love rose gold. Have you considered whether you would do 14 or 18kt? I tend to like the lower karat more. 18kt looks too similar to yellow gold to me.

Yep 14k same reason, I want less yellow gold in it.

You could even go to 10k rose gold - it's even more pink than 14k, and more affordable, too! Almost all of my rose gold is 10k, and I love it.

I think the place I'm getting my setting from only does 14k and I want to stick with the same setting as much original ering. It's very affordable, like $250-300 depending on price of gold. I paid $250 for my white gold one. The setting I like is very specific and I wasn't able to find it anywhere else for less than like $700, including custom. I could probably get it in 10k rose gold cheaper from Tianyu or Starsgem or maybe even an Etsy seller, but at this point I'm fine with 14k and the same store I used before.

@frogplus Are you definitely getting the cushion? Did you ever find out what the face measurement is in mm?

I just looked up a comparison on www.diamdb.com of a 1ct cushion vs. a 0.80ct round. The 0.8 round is just over 6.0mm diameter typically, while the 1ct cushion is typically 0.83mm x 0.83mm, BUT.....because of the more squarish shape of the cushion, the face-up area of it is actually a little larger! About 7% more, apparently.

Not getting cushion. Holding my breath hoping and praying for a 1ct round in the next few months. Plan b is the .8ct round. I don't think I'll be happy with cushion.

Another week and no 1ct from these evil withholding diamond demons. Just wish I knew if they were going to release it at all before May. Was playing around in diamdb today, set my exact finger size and width, 2mm gold band, pale skin. The .88 is very close to 1. I think I'll be thrilled with it if the 1ct never appears. I just want to have it now! Sick of waiting!

Honestly, I think if I were in your shoes, I would go ahead and get the 0.88. I have to really look hard to see the difference in size, it's a substantial difference from the 0.5, AND they have it in stock right now, with either the tiny blue or tiny pink. You could put a moissy in the new pendant to replace the diamond, have your upgraded e-ring, put the original diamond in a smaller, "everyday" pendant or a right-hand ring, and be done with all this and move forward with your mind freed to other things. Sounds like a win!

I would recommend that you get the real thing and get into an upgrade program.

The thing is being frugal can be great at times but it can actually cost you a lot in other instances.

In this case you already paid for an MMD AND a setting and will likely end up not wearing it. There is not much of a resale market for them. Now, if you order the 0.88 and Still don’t like it then it will be money wasted twice.

I think in your case I would bite the bullet and get a real diamond over 0.5 and upgrade as it is comfortable for you. I just get the feeling you will enjoy it too.

I’ve got the .88 Lightbox round set in my ring, and I put a moissanite into the pendant setting with the blue diamond. I really enjoy the lab diamond ring. I also enjoy wearing the pendant.

My finger is a size 9 though, so I would like to eventually upgrade to a larger stone, something around 1.5 carats to be more proportional. But I’d also love to have an OEC cut lab diamond in that size for my next solitaire.

The price of lab diamonds is coming down. With more availability and more vendors entering the market, I believe that there’s going to be an increase in better quality MMD diamonds- better cuts, more specialty cuts and higher quality, color, and clarity because the market will demand it.

I’m going to bide my time and wait for the right combination of price, size, cut, and quality that speaks to me. I’m not worried about trading in or trading up. I have moissanite jewelry that I still wear and enjoy often in my rotation, and I expect it will be the same with human created diamond pieces too. I think that one of the great things about lab diamond is that it will be a great medium for creating multiple pieces to love and enjoy wearing.

Are you sticking with LB because your budget is absolutely firm at $800? Because they aren’t releasing 1 carats by the dozen for a reason. They are piercing them for a reason. For only $1200 you can get a graded diamond that pretty close to ideal cut. Will it be as amazing as a WF ACA? No, but that doesn’t mean it won’t still sparkle. And I bet it will look better than a majority of LB’s diamonds. When you’re on this forum, it can be easy to think that anything that isn’t super ideal is basically crap, but for most people, a diamond will be beautiful even if it doesn’t meet the highest of standards from people with thousands and thousands of dollars to spend. Will you be happy with 1 carat? Or will you keep wanting to go bigger and bigger? Can you afford that? Most people can’t or don’t want to. I hope you find something beautiful that makes you happy!

This one looks great on the video and the inclusion near the girdle could easily be covered with the right prong. The inclusion in the table is barely noticeable, I can’t imagine you’d see it without magnification.

For $1300 you can get one that is cut to AGS Ideal & GIA Excellent standards. And that is a super clean SI1!
