According to my app, I've had 158 deliveries this year.... and I don't know whether I feel a little embarrassed or proud. HA!!

I’m an amazon addict. It’s just too easy to get small, cheap delivered things!

Be proud! I think that’s a record! Lol although probably a lot of us have tried to do as well as you : )

Oy vey. So far, in 2019 we have had198 Amazon deliveries. And many of those deliveries contained a number of items (as in 4 or 5 items per delivery as I always order a few things per delivery) so it is a much higher number than 198 deliveries. Just for 2019 (which is not over yet) alone. OMG and
To be fair probably half of those are related to the cats and RW gate. Just saying.

I made a LOT of huge big ticket impulse purchases this year, and I’ve personally banned myself from buying anything else this year....I sold some stocks in the summer so that I could remodel and repaint my house. Instead of the remodel, I ended up spending the money on a used baby grand piano, a new patio set and and BBQ grill, a Hawaiian vacation and down payment on a new car. I have been really bad...and no remodeling took place st all!
buying a baby grand is not really bad - ever !!
that is sooooo faboulse
enjoy

I never heard of disgraphya...could you tell me about it?

I love that you buy things that are beautiful or serve a purpose.
im.so sorry i havn't replied to this sooner
we have family visiting tomorrow (Gary's sister abd brother plus spouses) we are both a bit worked up about it because we feel like they want to almost stage an intervention - but honesty the house is clean and tidy - i like my half assembled pantry in the lounge and not mowing the back lawn is am enviromental choice !

now where was i
they never had dysgraphia when i was at school - they just told my parents i was thick or lazy
i got a lot of Ds on my report card at primary school
i have dusgusting handwritting and i can't spell, some words i just don't know the first letter even
mum and dad spent a lot of money sending me to private tutors to help with spelling but i did quite well im English at high school because you only lost so many marks for spelling
anyway i still remember some of those words from the tutor and i still can't spell them !!!
also - and i serously was so releaved to find this out
but truthfully it hurts as in physical pain to write neat - i was so releaved to find out why
now imangine trying to explain that to a teacher or parent - i didn't even try

i think i basically taught my own self to read because i got sat with the naughty kids and the books were too going for us and i becane a verouse reader
but it gets tiresome when people keep giving you dictionaries when they dont work ! (for me)
now i think about those slow naughty kids i bet they were neither slow or naughty- just bored, frustrated and neglected
the teachers were just too stupid to care or take the time to work us out and i often wounder what happened to those other kids who ended up in the 'special ' classes by high school

last year or maybe the year before there was a high school kid on tv who had got the highest mark in NZ - not sure now what subject - but she had a teacher aid to write for her because she had dysgrsphia

i never got to go to university unlike my sister who was in the top class at high school as opposed to my average class
i think if i could have had a bit of encouragement more than anything else i could have done well but my mother did not know how important education was going to be nor did she know how important it is to install self confidence in daughters
after mum died my sister told me she used to say ' we should have sent Nicky to varsity' but she never once told me that

goodness i can't remember which thread this is now

all i know is i never wanted to be a shop assistant and although ive always worked in more specialized shops that require a bit of nouse ive often thought at the end of the day what was the point?

the two worst things about shop work is the public treat us like dog poo and i just for me - this terribly feeling my life's work has zero meaning or worth

anyway once im working again i hope to curb my impulse purchasers, buy slightly more excitting groceries and i have a lot of Bruce Springsteen related merchandiser to catch up on

Thanks for the explanation. What a difficult experience and boo to the teachers and family who didn't know what to do. We all need encouragement especially as young children. I am sorry. Thank goodness you taught yourself and are a self made individual. A pretty amazing one at that (and never ever let anyone make you feel otherwise!). (((Hugs))).

LOL not something I want to win at doing!
Let's just hope when the craziness with the cats winds down we will go back to our normal Amazon purchasing (which if I am being real is still way too much).

HI:

ALMOST bought a new Trek bike today. But I resisted the urge (and pressure from my DH)! My Giant is my friend.

cheers--Sharon

All of my sweaters have been delivered! I'm on the fence with the puff sleeve one, I love the neckline so so much and only really plan on wearing it out for dinner/drinks so I think it's OK. The Eileen Fisher is an over-sized comfy DREAM and the fair isle is also nice, I'm happy and deleting all sale emails I get, for awhile anyway :) OH but I am planning on going to the new NYC Nordstrom flagship soon so I'm sure I'll be getting a bit more soon :)

Once upon a time, but not lately; I am too specific & like old school stuff that hardly changes much season to season (to say the least). I could loose sight of reason for books (thankfully what I read is free to me now - one way or another) & nephrite; diamonds or pearls could get seriously bad - prices are just enough deterrent (good old trade!)

@OdetteOdile I do this with just about anything public & scholarly regarding traditional architecture here, this is Granada, after all... did take a trip or two across Europe just to walk around this city! [then, it so happened I live here... ] The events hardly costs anything, so the only limit is time.

I have started to screen my phone calls from certain ballet companies because if I answer the phone I *will* buy tickets. Yes I will impulse buy tickets to ballets. It's not my fault - it's just so beautiful I can't help myself! :shhh:

LOL yes me too! LOVE the New York City Ballet so much. Also the New York Philharmonic, is relentless. They just keep on calling so now I do not pick up the phone. If I don't answer the phone I will not impulse buy tickets. :wink2:

Another Amazon addict, right here... :shifty:
Me too.. I order something pretty much every day. They’ve started waiting a bit to see if I order two things in the same day and ship them together!

I caved and subscribed the other day. Also, they can usually up sell me on better seats. But I'm happy about it. :appl: The winter season looks amazing and now I have something to really look forward to!

I'm also a HUGE fan! I get the mailers all the time and WISH I could be a season ticket holder. If I lived in the city I'd be spending a good chunk of money at Lincoln center!

I hear you on all of the above. And the sun. I LOVE the sun. But I still enjoy it. My dh and I are always outdoors for many hours in the nice weather. I just make sure I am wearing sun protective clothing and/or sunscreen (I can only tolerate zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide everything else causes a huge hive filled rash) and/or a parasol. Depending on the activity. So you can still enjoy the sun with adaptation.

I wear basically no makeup (but that is my choice and not because I cannot) but if I am going somewhere special I can wear Dermablend creme and most mascaras (I like Maybelline) and lip gloss. Just find makeup with minimal ingredients that you don't react to and hopefully you can find something that works for you. It is trial and error and I always recommend trying only one (or max of 2) new things at a time to see how your skin reacts.

And one silver lining as you mention is a healthier lifestyle. I definitely attribute my more youthful appearance to protecting myself from the sun and not drinking or smoking and exercising and eating (most of the time) healthfully. Though I do occasionally eat stuff I should not especially when I am stressed (as in the past 4 months sigh) but perfect is the enemy of good enough.

Good luck and hang in there and if I can be of any help please do not hesitate to ask. I sort of feel like a rosacea expert though I am not. I have had it for decades and learned a lot while dealing with it at its worst.

Thanks, I am actually terrible at asking for help (and at accepting it). But I am beginning to feel I might need it -- as despite 2 dermatologists and a year worth of trying I can't seem to shake it. Still trying to stop myself eating trigger foods (I can't go more than a few days without triggering something at the moment either because I am stressed and just give up, or by accident -- e.g. I am in china at the moment and everything has soy sauce and my chinese isn't good enough to get them to omit it.). I am currently considering what I should try next -- probably going to try an elimination diet. May come back for help once I've settled on an attack plan =)2.

It's challenging and even more so when one is under stress. Don't be hard on yourself. Actually a year isn't huge amount of time trying to get this under control. It took me a few years at least IIRC. It was quite the road. My best advice is take it one day at a time and don't beat yourself up about what you cannot control right now. Just do the best you can and you will get there. And I am here for you when/if you have any questions. Good luck!

That is my favorite thing to do. Walking around and taking in the sights and sounds and smells. Pure bliss when the weather is nice or even not so nice if one is dressed properly. And the cost is free. Sweet.

oh my
how can such beauty be so bad as to be an addiction
why is the ballet so darn expensive ?

my SIL just got back from a Euro trip with a stop in Cuba on the way home - and they never went to the ballet - didn't even know how great Cuban ballet was until they got there

i am always broke or we have a huge bill looming when tickets go on sale for the RNZB
it kills me
i am very taken by modern ballet but when the ballerinas are in their totos (excuse spelling) and get up on their toes and start twirling its all just overwelming beautiful and i have been known to be moved to tears
in fact the first time it happened i thought there must have been something wrong with me mentally
i didn't know art's job is to move people
edit i forgot to say i love you are called Odette
my OH is quite schooled up on the ballet not that he would ever let any of his friends know
when he was a wee boy he went to a primary school in the middle of wellington and the kids would get to go to the dress rehearsals of the RNZB
once he won us tickets to swan lake on ice on the radio
he said how much he enjoyed it
but unfortunately there seemed to be only one other man in the audience and the old boy looked so pleased to see Gary durring the intimition he made a bee line for Gary and started up a rather pleasent conversation
