Long-term victims, ugh! I know we all feel like victims sometimes when bad stuff happens, but my friend split up with her husband three years ago and did really well out of the divorce - her ex bought her a stunning family house with a pool for her and the kids - and she got custody, everything. Yet three years later, she still posts all these self-pitying sayings about being broken and rising up etc. etc. which garners a lot of sympathy from some. Even though she's dated a hot bodybuilder a decade younger than her since her divorce! And I know for a fact that friends of ours were going through things like deaths and cancer when she was divorcing, and she wasn't there for them. Getting very, very tired of the whole victim mindset. She was so selfish towards those friends, and yet seems to spend most of her time on Facebook yowling for sympathy. I wasted hours and hours and hours in 2017 and 2018 giving it to her. When I think of all the productive things I could have been doing!

I think this problem is multifaceted. In part due to people just not being self aware and in part due to the sense of entitlement many people seem to have. We didn't grow up with a sense of entitlement. Far from it. We were taught by my parents to be grateful for everything and hard work was necessary to get what we wanted and even then nothing was guaranteed or even deserved. Very few things were handed to us. We worked hard and appreciated all the good things and dealt with hardships and adversity as it came. There was no victim mentality. It wouldn't have been tolerated. That is just energy wasted.

I am tired of getting up at 3:30 AM or before (thanks Oliver for waking us at 2:30 AM this morning for the rest of the day) and would really love one good night's sleep. To the universe if you are listening oh I would truly appreciate a good night's sleep.

Having said that, I am so thankful for having a dh who isn't afraid of hard work and self sacrifice and doing what is necessary to take care of our sick kitties. For months and months now. And also very appreciative we have the funds to take care of them too.

Back to getting some sleep...pretty please.

PS not looking for sympathy. Just venting.

I agree, Missy. We weren't allowed to moan and groan when growing up. I'd say, "It's not fair!" and my grandmother would reply, "Well, it's not raining." Very helpful!! And my friend's parents would call her Moaning Minnie if she complained about random stuff.

Yes so true. My parents taught us life is not fair. Deal with it and make the best of it. As I grew older I truly realized that one can make a hell of heaven and a heaven of hell. Attitude and perception make all the difference. It cannot cure all one's ills but it goes a long way in making life sweeter. You cannot control everything but you can control your reaction to all things.

VERY wise words! I love that!

I have been actively looking for a job and today a relative who works for Goodwill sent me a link that Goodwill is looking for a jewelry processer! Basically it is sorting and identifying items for their e-commerce site! How awesome would that be? So I applied and we will see what happens, trying not to get my hopes up but damn that would be a pretty cool job.

Worst seat mate in a flight ever. I sit down after her and notice that she’s holding a garbage bag on her lap. The flight attendant asks her what it is and she says it’s her pillow. It’s in the bag because her aunt’s dog pooped all over it and she didn’t get a chance to clean it off.

Um what?!!! Ew

The flight attendant gets a biohazard bag and tells her to put the pillow inside. Woman thinks her pillow is going to the baggage compartment. Flight attendant informs her that the pillow will be destroyed. Woman flips out and starts crying and yelling about her rights to her property. Meanwhile security shows up and asks her to leave the aircraft so they can discuss the situation in private. She refuses to leave...

In the end she agreed to throw away the pillow if it meant she could still fly home. She vowed to go to the media and asked me to tweet about it. Nope nope nope.

She ranted for the entire flight and had no concept of personal space. Like if she needed something out of her purse she bent over so her head was on my lap etc.

Clearly the woman has issues. It just made for an incredibly awkward flight.

Thanks so much @missy! and love your new boots!

Thank you Stephanie! And please keep us posted re your potential job. I so hope you get it.

I haven't tried on the new boots yet because I am exhausted but they are the same exact boots I already have in multiples as these are my workhorse boots. I wear them in rain and all sorts of weather so I have a number of the black leather 5050 because I keep the newer ones out of the rain and the older ones for the inclement weather. I also have these in all the available colors. They are the perfect boot IMO and I think they fit most women (fit a variety of calf widths) and look great on everyone.

From last autumn- same as the 5050 I received yesterday.

Eww, sorry you had to deal with that. How unpleasant. Flying is uncivilized and has been that way for a long time. Glad that is over for you.

And since this is a jewelry forum: some fun when the light hit my ring.

I'm really sorry you had to experience that @chemgirl, how upsetting. I'm surprised they allowed her to remain on the flight. IIRC an airline got into trouble recently for carrying a passenger out of a plane so I guess they wanted to avoid that. She sounds mentally ill from your description but that doesn't mean you can't be disturbed and upset about it.

Oh Missy, I love all of your boots. I wish I could wear any shoes or boots I wanted. I used to love leather boots, they were all I wore.

Looks like a fake one lol but I am guessing it is real. Snakes don't scare me. Is that weird? Well, rattlesnakes would scare me so scratch what I just said. But garden variety snakes that are non poisonous don't scare me. Did you try a google image search? What happened to this snake? I would get Greg to remove it and put it outside. While they don't scare me I probably wouldn't want to do that myself. One benefit of having a DH/SO. They remove the things that do not belong in the house. ;))

Reminds me of snakes I love

@missy It does look fake in that photo but it’s real! We never caught him. I waited up for my husband until he got home from NJ after 12...We turned all furniture over...looked underneath what we couldn’t tip over with a flashlight..and didn’t find him. We have no idea how he got in...I read they can come up through the toilet! I won’t let David go down there until we find him. My husband said we may not find him...Well...David is not going down there to watch his movies because he may not react if he sees him and tell me...so..nope...he’s staying upstairs until we get him. I don’t know what kind he is..He’s really thin and black..He had a little head that was off the ground when he was still...I threw a towel over him...I thought it would buy me time. When I got upstairs to get a pole to pick him up he was gone when I got back. Eewwww!

Ugh, that is the worst! When we see something icky and try making sure it stays put til our DHs get home and when we go back it has disappeared. Not knowing where it went is scary. I hope you find it soon. And I hope you take comfort in the fact I am pretty sure it is harmless. But I know the ick factor is super strong. Sending you snake finding vibes or rather sending your dh snake finding vibes!

It’s usually me @missy...My husband would do it if I’m screaming but I’m usually the one telling him what to do..which is get me something to get him. What scares me is I know nothing about snakes and David sits down there to watch movies.
I just noticed on the PS page that snake jewelry is in! I think there’s a PS’er that has a black snake ring that I recall. She can come over to take my snake!

@Mamabean, you are in Pa?
I grew up there. I think this is a common black snake, I don't think they are poisonous.
Just be prepared to catch him when he makes another appearance, and let him go outside, They eat mice and other small animals. Good luck!

He probably likes your warm basement.
While you're gone, you can do a little internet research to figure out the best way to get rid of him when you return. Keep your basement door closed, so he doesn't come up and raid the fridge while you're gone:lol:

HI:

As a failed PS'er who (but rarely) cleans her jewellery...I would like to make a HUGE shout out. 10 year old WF 7 stone diamond band that I wear almost daily...that just DOESNT STOP SPARKLING. Apparently their cut defies cleaning. Who knew?

cheers--Sharon
