I assume it's an ACA, meaning its guaranteed to perform excellently. Also, we recommend that stones be 62.4 or less depth, which this one is.

Thank you, @ringo865 @Dancing Fire, @Wewechew
@lovedogs - yes it’s an ACA. Thank you.

My next question is that this stone will only be 0.3mm larger than my current stone. Is that enough difference to be noticeable?

Thanks again.

Probably, but not a huge "omg!" Difference . How big is the stone? Differences are more obvious in sub 1ct stones

Specs are horrible. Send to me and I will dispose of for you. :mrgreen2::lol-2:

Seriously, ACA specs allow depth up to 62%. The proportions are gorgeous. Love the small table and crown/pavilion combo. Also fat arrows with 76 LGF's. Overall crown height of 15.3. In short, all the ingredients for a sparkle bomb! ;)2

https://www.whiteflash.com/a-cut-above-diamonds-specifications-and-qualifications/

In regards to size, noticeable side by side for most people. But viewed separately not a significant enough difference to be memorable.

0.30mm = 0.1181 inches = approx 3/256"

If it were 4/256" it would be 1/64" which is a more common measurement you may recognize.

@lovedogs -thanks. It’s a little over 2ct. It’s diameter is 8.23. I was hoping for an 8.30 at least as that’s the size I read that would make it more noticeable if I multiplied 7.91 (my current stone) to 1.05. But this stone is tempting me!!!

@sledge - Hahahaha. Thanks for the analysis. I know, I know about the size. Now that you and @lovedogs said that the specs are amazing I am very tempted. I’ve been looking for one that’s at least 8.30 in diameter as my current one is 7.91 but I have not seen specs that are that great. So decisions, decisions. Ughh

If you have all the dimensions then I would input into diamdb.com. It shows you a visual of each stone on a finger (and you can change the finger size). When I just randomly guessed at the other values, it looks like it's 7% bigger and I honestly didn't really see a visual difference on a finger. But since I guessed, I don't actually know for sure.

@lovedogs - yes I used that site and it’s only giving me an 8% size difference which isn’t a lot but this stone is so tempting. I don’t know what to do.

Can you visually see the difference between the two sizes? And is this an upgrade where you are trading in a stone w. WF or are you replacing an older stone w. a new one that you're paying for from scratch?

@lovedogs- I can barely see the difference. Unlike when I went from a 1.37 carat to a 1.86 carats. It will be another upgrade. Thanks.

Since you get such a good upgrade policy I would wait until you can afford a larger one. Settings are expensive, and continuing to trade settings is kind of a waste, especially if you know you'll want a bigger one soon. I think 8.4 wpuld definitely give you a noticiblw size bump

@lovedogs - ahhhh... you are the sound of reason :). True, true. The last 2 upgrades I only had to change the head and kept my setting but that still cost me plus the cost of shipping back the ring twice. I am thinking of changing my setting to the vatche u113 that so many PS’rs love as I’m loving the look of 6 prongs more and more. 8.4 sounds so much nicer though for sure!

@lovedogs - and I forgot that they have to add sales tax now!! Ughhh!!

Unless I decide to have our kids pay for college themselves one and a half down. One and a half to go.
College is more important than diamond?

There was a very memorable size difference between 2ct and 6ct. Do it....do it....do it! :mrgreen2:

You can also see a size difference between your existing and the new proposed ACA; however, to the casual observer I doubt they'd notice.

Diamonds are funny that way though. You will spend the most time looking and analyzing the stone, so the upgrade should be less about other people and more about you. Also, it could be argued that if 2.5 carats (or whatever size) is your final goal then this is just a step to hit your final target so you don't have such a huge leap to realize your goals. Remember, you eat an elephant just like anything else -- one bite at a time!

Lastly, while all ACA's are gorgeous I do believe you have slight variations in personality because of a very tight but variable set of proportions. It's possible that this particular stone talks to you differently than your current stone, and although that difference may be minimal it makes it worthwhile to you. In fact there was another thread recently where there was grave concern about upgrading and losing the characteristics of her current stone as she loved it so much and she was analyzing the tiniest details to ensure the upgrade was the same or better performance. I'm happy to report it was better.

@lovedogs mentioned sales tax and settings. Keep in mind WF is the only vendor to offer a trade in program on designer bands. As I recall you get 50% value of the existing price, so not as sweet as their diamond program but better than a sharp stick in the eye.

And have WF verify but I believe tax should be limited to the difference of value associated with the trade. Meaning if your current rock has a trade value of $17k and your new stone has a value of $22k then your taxable value should be $5k. Otherwise that would be double taxation on a portion of your purchase as you would have needed to already pay sales tax on the $17k. But honestly as I type that I seem to recall a conversation about this and someone said its.on the whole purchase. I can't recall who or the exact details, but you should confirm so there are no surprises.

For the record I live in a state where if I overpay on state tax and get a refund then the following year i have to count that refund as taxable income. Tell me how damn sense that makes. I was already taxed on the initial income, and because you overpay taxes the refund becomes taxable a second time. Guess who now pays money to the state each year? LOL. Actually I have my taxes setup where I get close to a break even point, which normally means a tiny refund from federal and payment to the state. Sometimes I get a few hundred bucks, others I pay a thousand or less once I wash the refund out. Sorry but unless you're sharing interest on my money, then I'm perfectly capable of saving my own money and don't like refunds. Sorry, personal rant.
