I saw this :eek2:

I was impressed she swallowed it so easily. I would have been gagging the entire time, which would have woken me up.

I wonder if they had to operate to remove it?

The article said that doctors opted not to let it pass naturally but it didn’t say how they got it out.

That’s good that they didn’t have to cut her open!

Dear Pricescopers, the moral of the story is clear. Her ring was not big enough to cause her to choke, which if it were would have woken her up and prevented the actual ingestion of her ring. Please share this cautionary tale with your significant other and rectify and potential situation before it is too late.

@monarch64 how thoughtful and kind of you to pass along this very important PSA.

She swallowed 2.4 carats!?! Youch! I wonder if they were worried it would do damage on the way out given its size and whatever prongs...

Perhaps the moral of that story is she should take it off and put it somewhere safe before she goes to bed so she can't swallow it again....

I didn't find the ring particularly attractive, perhaps she was hoping that it would disappear?

Seriously, how on earth could you swallow a ring?!

I had to view the story on a different site. They did an upper endoscopy on her to retrieve the ring.:eek2:

Yet another solid reason why rings should be taken off before bed, unless she sleepwalks too! :???:

Everybody knows you stick the ring down in your bra to hide it from the bad guys! Sheesh!

Don’t people take off their rings when they go to bed?

I wonder if she takes Ambien? I know a couple people who did crazy eating things after taking ambien and going to sleep.

I work in the medical field, and I have seen TONS of broken hips and injuries from people taking Ambien and doing crazy things, even driving cars. My own SIL was caught walking her neighborhood naked! (She is strikingly beautiful, and was a thrill for many to see this. Obviously, she was devastated.)

OMG I would be so embarrassed! I am glad she was neither arrested or accosted when this happened!
These both happened to coworkers of mine. I can't remember the details of the first story, but it involved waking up, going down to kitchen and eating a number of varied and uncomplementary items out of the fridge including possibly some condiments. The 2nd story was waking up and going to kitchen and eating a banana and then eating the PEEL of the banana!!! After I heard those stories I was like, think I will skip the Ambien.

I've taken ambien WITH melatonin...and slept. It's fantastic stuff as long as it agrees with you.

No wonder I never wear my rings to bed! I truly can't imagine doing this but she probably couldn't have either!

I was shared a house with my land lady years ago. I was a night owl and she would be in bed by 9/10 every night. On a couple occasions, when I would be making/packing my lunch for work the next day, she would come out of her room and proceed to eat the food I was packing, right in front of me! I would talk to her and ask, "are you hungry? I can make you a bowl" etc, but she would shake her head and continue eating my lunch. Then I would go back to my room, come to the kitchen an hour later and all the food would be partially eaten and just sitting out on the table and counters- which was odd because she was a very tidy person!

I didnt find out until years after I moved out that she was on sleeping pills and she told me she was known to sleep walk...and sleep eat!
